Steve the Sizechanger

Author notes: Stephen and Steve refer to the same person

With few exceptions the Sizechanger language in this story is translated into English.

The timeframe is sometime in 2005 CE

Part 1

It all started when Stephen's in laws, Deborah's parents we're over for dinner. The conversation was informal and relaxed. That is until Mrs. Law said.

"Stephen have you ever considered the possibility of becoming a Sizechanger?"

Stephen nearly choked on his steak.

"Mistar mentioned to me once. And Deborah said it was possible. But I didn't really believe them." Stephen replied.

"It's possible. The Masterchemi have turned hundreds of humans into Sizechangers over the years." Deborah replied.

"You didn't talk about the possibility?" Mr. Law asked his daughter.

"I meant to but somehow never got around to it." Deborah replied.

"Please don't take this the wrong way, but I like being human." Stephen told his in-laws.

"We can understand that, but there are advantages to being a Sizechanger." Mr. Law pointed out.

"It would making having kids easier." Mrs. Law pointed out.

"MOM!" Deborah shouted.

"I want grandkids someday. And they will have to come from either you or Mistar." Mrs. Law shot back.

"Were you talking to my mom?" Stephen asked. "Yesterday she asked me if we were planning on having any kids."

"No I wasn't."

"Even if I and Deborah had kids, there no telling how they would turn out. They would probably be a hybrid, part Sizechanger, part human. What would you do then?"

"While I prefer to have Sizechangers as Grandkids, I could accept a hybrid or a human if it came to that." Mrs. Law replied.

"Same goes for me." Mr. Law added.

On that awkward note the dinner conversation ended, but it was no means the end of the matter.

"Steve we need to talk."

"About what?"

"You should really consider becoming a Sizechanger."

"Why? Just because your mom brought it up the other day?"

"It's not just that. There are advantages to being a Sizechanger."

"Like what?"

"You would have control over your size."

"And why would that be such an issue?"

Suddenly Stephen found himself shrinking, clothes and all.

"HEY!" Stephen shouted.

"I’m just trying to prove a point." Deborah replied. By the time Stephen stopped shrinking, he was no bigger than a Ken doll.

"If you were a Sizechanger, you could grow back to normal size without any help. Maybe even stop me from shrinking you in the first place."

"Is that the only reason you can come up with?"

"No! As a Sizechanger you could visit Sizeloa. You could visit my hometown, visit the old Law homestead. As a Human, the only part of my home world open to you are the Size Islands."

"Why do they let Humans visit the Size Islands?"

"Two Words, tourist industry. What I don't understand, is why you would throw away the chance to gain powers."

"Because it would cost me my humanity. Say, for the sake of argument that I did become a Sizechanger. What would I tell my family and friends?"

"Don't tell them anything. You would have to keep it secret from them. Although I suppose your parents would find out eventually."

"They still haven't figured out that you’re a Sizechanger." Stephen pointed out.

"That could change some day. Your dad acts like he's already meet Sizechangers."

"Getting back on topic. I'm not crazy on the idea of hiding my true identity from the world."

"You'll get used to it. Besides I would help you."

"If I could try it on a trail basis, I would consider giving it a shot. But I get the impression it would be permanent."

"I can do some research and get back to you. Please give this some serious thought."

"I will as soon as you restore my size."

"Oh sorry."

Stephen then began to grow and was back to six feet tall again in no time.

"Honey, remember what we talked about last week?"

"If it's about becoming a Sizechanger. My views haven't changed." Stephen replied.

"Come out into the living room. I got a surprise for you."

Stephen followed his wife into the living room. In the center of the room there was what appeared to be a large multi coloured blob.

 "Steve met the Masterchemi."

"I thought the Masterchemi were a race not a single entity." Stephen commented.

"We are a race, but we are not individuals. We are separate entities joined up in a collective."

"I'm not sure I understand."

"You’re not meant to Steve.  Deborah has been telling us about your hesitation on becoming a Sizechanger. We have the answer for you."

"It's reversible?" Steve asked.

"We don't advertise the fact, but yes, we can reverse the conversion process." The Masterchemi replied.

"I must admit, I was shocked when I heard about this." Deborah said.

"Is the process painful?" Steve asked.

"No one has complained about pain." The Masterchemi replied.

"Is it a long and complex procedure?"

"It only takes a few minutes and yes it is complex, but you won't notice most of it."

"Only a few minutes, I thought I would have to go to some hospital or lab."

"Nope.  We can do it right here."

"All right! I'll give being a Sizechanger a try."

The Masterchemi then went right up to him and the next thing he knew there were alien fluids flowing into him. Then he felt his body begin to change. On the outside he looked the same, but somehow he could feel changes on the inside.

"How do you feel?" The Masterchemi asked him.

"I can't put my finger on it, but I do feel a little different." Stephen replied.

"That's because you're now a Sizechanger."

"It took only ten minutes to change me from human to Sizechanger. That's hard to shallow."

"We assure you that you are." The Masterchemi then turned to Deborah.

"Guide and teach him the ways of the Sizechangers." Then it turned back to Stephen.

"There will be a class for Nusi next Saturday in the city of Hillta. I strongly urge you to attend."

"Nusi?"

"It means "New sizechanger" Deborah explained.

"Transportation to Sizeloa will be provided. Any questions?"

"I got two questions. What time Saturday is this class?"

"An hour after midday local time, which is 10Am Eastern Standard Time. Your next question?"

"How long do I have before I have to make a final decision?" Stephen asked.

"We hope you will decide to remain a Sizechanger for life. But after a week or two who feel that you rather be human, we will change you back." The Masterchemi replied.

Then a wormhole opened up and the Masterchemi flowed out of sight.

"All right. Where should I start?"

"Where on Sizeloa is Hillta?"

"It's located on the Alpha continent. Near the mountain range we call the "Great Divide".

"Guess I'll have to brush up on my Sizeloa geography."

"Now that you’re a Sizechanger, I can give you a tour of my home planet."

"Maybe later. Right now I still have trouble believing I'm a Sizechanger."

"Tell you what. Try to shrink that book on the coffee table."

"Hmm, how?"

"There are a couple of ways. You can imagine the book shrinking to the target size. Or you think out the command."

"You mean like this? " Stephen stared at the book and thought. "Book shrink to 10% of your current size."

To his shock the book began to rapidly shrink. Within seconds it was just 1/10th it's original size.

"You did that."

"Nope it was all your effort."

Suddenly the phone rang.

"Wonder who that can be?" Steve wondered as he answered the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hello Steve."

"Mom! I wasn't expecting you to call."

"Just calling to confirm you're coming over to dinner this Saturday?"

"This Saturday? Um I need to postpone that dinner date."

"Oh why?"

"I have a meeting to attend on an other pl.. um I mean other country to attend."

"Since when did your accounting job take you out of the country?"

"Nuts!" He muttered to himself. Out loud he said. "You got me. The real reason I have to postpone is that Deborah parents invited us to their place on Saturday and since we bought the plane tickets all ready.  It would be awkward to refuse."

"You forgot didn't you?"

"I've had a lot on my mind. And I will make it up to you. I promise."

"All right. But your dad and I better not have to compete with your in-laws on a regular basis."

"You won't. Love you mom, Bye for now."

"What's this lie about having to visit my parents?" Deborah asked Steve as soon as he hung up the phone.

"I had to give some excuse as to why I couldn't go to her house Saturday, and she didn't buy the work excuse. " Stephen replied. "Besides I want to see the place where you grew up."

"I'll talk to my parents and arrange it. In the mean time I recommend you read some "How-To" books on size changing."

"Such books exist?"

"Yes. Every Sizechanger child studies size changing at some point during its schooling. Besides you’re not the first human to become a Sizechanger."

"Are these books in Sizechanger or English?" Stephen asked.

"Most are in my native language but I do think there's an English version."

"Strongly prefer the English version."

The book arrived the next evening. It was called "The Ignorant person guide to Sizechangers and size changing."

"I half expected a "Dummies" book." Stephen commented.

"We don't have the copyright on "Dummies". Besides you should find this book helpful." Deborah commented.

"At least it's in English."

"You want this Friday off as well as the weekend?" MaryAnn Owens asked Stephen.

"Yes. I got a few vacation days left. And I want to use some of them." Stephen replied.

"This is not like you to take time off with so little notice. Is there something you want to tell me Mr. Miller?"

Stephen felt a bit uncomfortable under his boss gaze. But he gathered up the nerve to say "no".

"You're hiding something from me Mr. Miller. Since things are a little slow so I can let you go. But I want more warning in the future."

"I promise I'll give you more warning in the future. Thank you Ms. Owens this means a lot to me."

"Does this have anything to do with the Sizechangers would it?"

"Look at the time. I got to go." Stephen then fled the office.

"That must be a yes." MaryAnn thought to herself. "Wonder why he won't tell me. I already know his wife a Sizechanger."

"What did your boss say?"

"I got Friday off. I didn't dare tell her that I wanted the day to do some exploring of Sizeloa."

"Why not? She already knows about Sizechangers."

"Have you forgotten about her connections to "Stan's Growth and Shrink Rays"? I doubt Ms. Owens would like having a Sizechanger on staff."

"Good point."

"Are you nervous Steve?"

Stephen looked at the open cross time portal in front of him: then he looked at his wife and nodded.

"Don't be. I'll be here to guide you."

"I'm about to visit another planet. Who won't be nervous?"

"Remember while Sizeloa maybe in another universe, earth is just a wormhole away."

"I don't get it. Sizeloa is in another universe yet both universes are part of the Wishbone multiuniverse."

"You're stalling. It’s time to give you a push." Deborah then pushed Stephen through the portal."

Stephen almost fell flat on his face but didn't. He then realized he was standing in front of a two-story house.

"That wasn't so bad was it?" Deborah asked Stephen.

"Where are we?" Stephen asked.

"We are standing in front of the Law Family home."

"Oh, now I see the sign."

The sign Steve referred to said.

"Home of Annta and Gary Law and their kids"

"Anyway, this is the place where I grew up. It is located on the outskirts of Rivbend located in the eastern half of the Beta continent." Deborah replied.

Suddenly a huge foot came down in front of them between them and the house. It was wearing a sandal. Stephen looked up the long legs, wearing what appeared to be jeans. The middle was bare except for a pink bra. Finally about 100 feet off the ground was the face of a woman with long red hair and brown eyes. She was looking down at them at had a big smile.

"Watch where you're going Redbo." Deborah called up to the giantess.

"I always watch where I step Deborah." The redhead replied. "Who the cutie?" She asked.

"Redbo this is my husband Stephen."

"So the rumour is true. You did marry a human. Or should I say ex-human."

"I take it you two know each other."

"We grew up together." Deborah explained.

"Sometime you got to tell me why you married him."

"I can tell you right now, I fell in love with him and he turned out to be my true love."

"Really! I'm still looking for my true love."

"Still having bad luck with men?"

"Yeah! I'm getting so desperate that I'm considering getting myself pregnant so he'll have to marry me."

"I don't understand. What would stop the dad from running away?" Stephen asked.

"He won't abandon his own child."

"Sadly, there are many human men that have."

"Really? I don't understand humans."

"Can't say I approve of your plan. Besides for your plan to work, you have to lure a man to your bed."

"Sadly you are right. Well I got to go. But I'll see you later." Redbo then walked away.

"She would have caused a stir back home."

"You got to remember, that we are Sizechangers. Growing to giant size is a common experience here. Come my parents are expecting us."

They went up to the front door, but instead of knocking on the door. Deborah put her hand on a strip on the right hand side of the door. The door then slid open.

"The door recognizes and lets in certain people, my parents, my sister and myself." Deborah explained.

His in laws were waiting for them when they came through the door.

"Welcome Deborah, Welcome Stephen." Mr. Law said.

"Welcome to the Sizechanger race." Mrs. Law said in Sizechanger

"Not a bad place you got here."

"You haven't seen much of it yet." Deborah replied.

"Just trying to be nice." Steve shot back.

"Anyway, it will be nice to have the whole family for dinner."

"Mistar here?" Stephen asked.

"She's in the entertainment room watching television, last time I saw her." Mrs. Law replied.

"Led the way. I want to show Mistar something."

"All right but remember that Mistar is more powerful than you and has way more experience." Deborah warned.

Mistar was so engaged watching television that she didn't hear her sister or Stephen approach. Deborah stayed out in the hall while Stephen approached Mistar from behind.

"Are you tried of sneaking past Morphers to visit Sim Charmed? Well your dreams are about to be answered, for Sim Charmed 2 is being built right here on the Beta continent. This is full-scale model of the Charmed Ones San Francisco. Not only can you watch simulations of the Charmed ones. You can role-play your favourite Charmed Characters. The Charmed Simulator for Sizechangers only is opening soon."

Mistar turned off the television in disgust.

"That's the last thing this world needs more Charmed." Mistar muttered.

"I take it your not a fan."

"I hate those witches Steve." Mistar's jaw then dropped when she realized who she was talking to.

"Stephen Miller what are you doing here? Humans aren't allowed here." She told him.

"So who's human? Thanks to the Masterchemi I'm now a Sizechanger."

"Really?"

"I'll prove it." Stephen said. "Shrink Mistar to 1/10th size." Mistar Steve thought.

"Hey!" Mistar cried as she started shrinking in size. But to Steve surprise she stopped shrinking long before she shrank to 1/10 size. She was one-third original size: then she rapidly grew back to her normal six feet height.

"So you want a Size duel huh? You asked for it buster."

Stephen then found himself shrinking. He then willed himself to grow. The shrinking slowed down, but didn't stop. He felt like he was pressing against a heavy object. He was down to three feet tall, so he needs to do something fast. So he tries to make Mistar shrink with him.

He then rapidly shrank to an inch in height. Mistar was now slowly shrinking, and lost six inches of height before she realized it. She then put her foot down on him. Stephen could barely breathe. Mistar then stopped shrinking.

"That's enough you two." Mrs. Law yelled at Mistar and Stephen.

"All right mom." Mistar replied. Then she lifted her foot off Stephen.

"Are you all right?" Deborah asked.

Steve nodded and then started growing.

"What made you think you could win a size duel with me?" Mistar asked after Stephen had reached his normal height.

"I didn't want a size duel. I wanted to shrink you to get back at you for the way you treated me at World Best Foods." Stephen replied.

"You’re still mad about that? Well let me give you a tip, never pick on a Sizechanger stronger than you."

"I already told him that." Deborah pointed out.

"Point number two, a brother rarely wins a size duel with his sister."

"She referring to the size duels she used to have with Zentor." Mrs. Law said after seeing the look of confusion on Steve's face.

After the run in with Mistar, Deborah then gave Stephen a tour of the house. It consisted of the three floors. The Basement or below ground floor as the Laws called it, contained storerooms, a work area for Mr. Law, a work area for Mrs. Law and the Sizechanger version of a freezer.

"Your parent’s job requires them to work in the basement?" Steve asked.

"My parents are retired. But they both have hobbies that require space to work, hence the work areas." Deborah replied.

The ground floor had the entertainment room, a kitchen where something Stephen couldn't identify was cooking. There was a dinning room, a guestroom and a small bathroom.

The upstairs held four bedrooms. One was for his in-laws. One was Mistar old room, one was Deborah's old room, where they were going to sleep for the night. And finally there was what used to be Zentor's room.

"We haven't touched it since his death." Deborah told Stephen.

"What time is dinner mom?"

"The 17th hour." Mrs. Law replied.

"The 17th hour?" Stephen asked.

"We use a 24 hour clock here." Deborah replied. "Come on, we have time to do a brief tour of Revbend."

After leaving the house, Deborah led Stephen to a paved road. Then they started walking toward the west.

"We got two choices. We can grow into giants so we can cover more ground faster. Or we can stay this size and see the town from this point of view."

"When you say giant, how big are we talking?"

"Oh, I had in mind 150 feet, maybe 200 feet. Big enough to see over most of the buildings."

"I don't feel comfortable being that big in a town."

"Suit yourself, although most sizechangers do take a giant/giantess course during their studies."

"Tell me more about the town itself."

"Well in the last census the town had just over 10,000 people. Rivbend is what you humans would call a service center. Serving farms for miles around and it's a major stopping point on the Longtar River."

"So Rivbend is a typical small town."

"Hardly. The great Zola himself founded Rivbend."

"Who?"

"Zola was one the greatest explorers Sizeloa had ever produced. He founded settlements on both the Beta and Gamma continents. You'll see his statue in the center of town."

"How long ago was the town founded?"

"About 2000 years ago. Our year is the same length as your year."

"So your town is far older than America."

"It's status as one of the oldest towns on Beta continent does draw in a few tourists." Deborah admitted.

They were now buildings on either side of them. Deborah identified them as houses.

"I thought Sizechangers might have different size houses."

"The poor are sometimes forced to live in shrunken housing. The rich and powerful sometimes live as giants in giant homes. It's a matter of taste." Deborah replied.

"Is that a giant home over there?" Stephen pointed to a three-story home that was big as thirty-story building.

"That's the mayor house. His name is Bitor Bigla. He feels being a giant most of the time makes people respect him."

"Other than the mayor's house,  I don't see very many giant homes."

"That's because they're only three or four in town. About 90% of people in this town live in normal sized homes."

"I take it that poor people live in that row of doll size houses?" Stephen asked.

"Who are you calling poor?" A female voice asked in Sizechanger.

Stephen looked down and saw an eight-inch tall blond standing before him.

"Dol-la Doll is that you?" Deborah asked.

"Deborah Law is that you?" The tiny blond asked.

"Yes it is. It's been years Dol-la."

"Another of your old friends?" Stephen asked.

"Who is this jerk?" Dol-la asked.

"That jerk happens to be my husband." Deborah replied. "His name is Stephen Miller."

"You married a human! It would explain why he mistook Doll club homes for poor people homes."

"Doll club is a group of Sizechangers, manly women who prefer to spend most of their time doll sized." Deborah explained.

"Sometimes we sneak into human homes and pretend to be dolls. It's fun teasing the humans that way." Dol-la added.

"Sounds dangerous to me. What if the homeowners catch you?" Stephen asked.

"I've only had it happen a couple of times. And I can defend myself." Dol-la replied.

"We got to go. Keep in touch Dol-la."

"I will Deborah."

While Dol-la was still talking, Stephen felt himself being carried off the ground. The next thing he knew he was face to face with a sixty foot giant. He had red hair and blue eyes and didn't look too happy.

"So you’re the Sizechanger who grabbed my Deborah." The giant sneered.

"I was never your girlfriend Jerktor Bigla." Deborah shot back.

"Please put me down." Stephen asked Jerktor.

"Make me." Jerktor shot back.

Stephen then willed himself to grow. Jerktor tried to stop him but only succeeded in slowing down his growth. Within moments Stephen was too big for Jerktor to hold, and then Stephen was looking Jerktor in the eye.

"Look bud, Deborah is my wife."

"She should have been mine. I always loved her."

"Nonsense." Deborah said, as she grew from six feet to sixty feet tall. "You had what humans call a "Crush" on me. You never really cared for me."

"Humans Bah. Some day we'll exterminate that species of vermin."

"Hey! I used to be human."

"I know Stephen Miller. I know."

"You know me?"

"I never lost tract of Deborah. Some day I and my fellow human haters will kill every human in the multiuniverse." Jerktor vowed.

"That will never happen Jerktor." Deborah vowed.

"There are more of us than you think." Jerktor said before he turned and walked away.

"Who is that Jerk?" Stephen asked.

"He is the only surviving son of the mayor. He was always a jerk." Deborah replied.

"What's this about "Human haters"?"

"They are a small minority of Sizechangers who want to wipe the human race out of existence. They have been around for years and not much of a threat."

"Jerktor sounded like a threat to me."

"Come on let's go back to my parent's home."

"All right. But let's stay 60-foot giants. I'll feel safer that way. "

"Fine. We'll shrink back to normal when we reach the house."

The dinner that night was one of the strangest Stephen had ever attended. For one thing, other than the glasses of water, none of the food and drink on the table was familiar to him.

"I assure you that everything is safe to eat." Deborah assured Stephen.

"You're looking at some of best food the lands and seas of the Beta continent have to offer." Mrs. Law added, pride showing in her voice.

"No offence. But I have no clue what most of this stuff is. Take this for example." He pointed his fork at a fish. But it was a very fat fish, for it was ball shaped.

"That's a Blofat." Deborah explained. "They are grown in fish farms all around the coast."

"If you think cooked Blofat grosses you out, you should get them raw." Mistar added.

"Mistar we will not have your gross out stories at the table."

"Sorry."

"I assume this is some sort of vegetable or fruit." He pointed to what looked like a purple cucumber.

"Actually it's neither. Puzta's don't fit under any Human classification." Deborah explained.

"Try it. Once you develop a taste for it. You'll want it for the rest of your life."  Mr. law said.

 "Really?"

"I  have been eating them for decades. I know what I'm talking about."

"What a day. I'm ready to hit the sack." Steve commented as he and Deborah entered Deborah's old bedroom. His heart sank when he saw the bed.

"Nut's I forgot the bed is built for one."

"Honey your forgetting we are Sizechangers."

"Right! We can make the bed bigger."

"Actually it would be better if we made ourselves smaller."

"Not keen on that idea."

"You're going to have to get used to being shrunk. Besides half size isn't that small."

"I suppose your right. Just don't like going to sleep shrunk."

"Fine, I'll shrink to a tiny size so can remain normal sized.

"Are you sure that's a good idea? I might accidentally crush you."

"A Sizechanger is always able to sense his/her true love. Your body will sense me and avoid hurting me."

"I know you can sense me, but what's makes you think I can sense you?"

"You’re a Sizechanger now and I know you love me. Now do what I say or I'll shrink you to a tiny size."

"All right."

"Take off everything but your underwear and lie down flat on the bed.

Stephen did as he was told.

Deborah then began to rapidly shrink. She climbed on the bed as she shrank and shrank. When she had stopped shrinking, she was only two inches tall.

"Decisions, decisions should I sleep on your chest or your belly?"

"Um. Sleep where to feel the most comfortable."

"The belly it is. You know that it's a sign of trust among Sizechangers when you sleep on their belly?"

"If you say so."

Deborah lied down on his belly and within moments both were fast asleep.
