It is the twenty-first century, and there have been spectacular
advances in the field of human genetics. Parents and governments and
corporations can now decide what kinds of children to bring into this
world. In the united states, the government decides to engineer a
generation of ideal soldiers. They call the project seven-x, because
this is their seventh trial into picking the potentially right genes,
and due to its utmost secrecy they always add the suffix 'x' to the
project. In brazil meanwhile, a modelling agency is also researching
the ideal genes for the perfect supermodel. They call the project
phi, after the 'golden ratio'. One set of genes they decide to focus
on is the one for a curvaceous figure.
Twenty-seven years pass, and now the us government has 100
twenty-seven old ideal soldiers. These men are all six feet tall, 180
pounds, with very rugged features, and are all caucasian. As the last
part of their grueling training, they are placed in underground
structures to see how well they respond to isolation and sensory
deprivation. This usually proves to be the toughest test to pass. In
Brazil meanwhile, the project phi has resulted in 100 gorgeous and
curvaceous 27 year old supermodels. the only problem is that the same
genes that lead to the ideal curvaceous figures also controlled
height, and all these girls ended up being 7 feet tall, and 250 pounds
in weight. After countless lawsuits, the company agreed to pay
the girls millions of dollars, and relocated them to the most remote
parts of amazonia, so that they can avoid the public eye and live in
privacy.
Meanwhile, in a top secret facility which houses some of the deadliest
viruses known to mankind, an embittered and angry lab technician gets
a hold of a vial of one of the deadliest viruses which is spread by
air. That night, he goes home and as usual starts to drink heavily.
Finally, he takes the vial and goes outside of his house. Prior to
jumping off of a cliff, he throws the vial down the cliff, and the
vial hits the rocks and shatters. As the virus particles become
airborne, he screams : "goodbye cruel world !", and jumps off the
cliff to his death. During the course of the next month, all of
mankind is wiped out, except for the 100 soldiers who are in the
underground structures, and the 100 models who live in complete
isolation in Amazonia.
A month passes, and without anymore hosts, the virus dies out
completely. By now, the soldiers are done with their training, and
emerge from the underground structures. In Brazil, the girls continue
to live their isolated existence, still unaware of what has happened.
The guys however, soon realize that aside from them no one else is
anywhere to be found. With access to the us government's
supercomputers, they scan the planet for any signs of human life,
specifically any forms of electronic activity. Soon, they pinpoint
the location of the only remaining life-forms on earth : the girls in
amazonia. After a brief brainstorming session, they agree that if the
human race is to continue, they have to travel to amazonia to see if
the remaining humans are women.
It took the guys about ten days to plan their trip, and to make the
necessary arrangements for a potential flight back. They boarded the
us government's most advanced military plane, and entered the
coordinates of amazonia into the plane's guidance system. Flying at
supersonic speed, the plane made the intercontinental flight in 3
hours time. Once the plane had reached the proper coordinates, it
started to circle overhead, waiting for further instructions to land.
The 100 men looked out of the windows, and saw amazonia. At first
glance, it was hard for them to believe that this dense jungle held
the potential key to the continuation of the human species.
Upon closer examination, the men noted that parts of the jungle below
seemed to have been cleared of trees and other forms of vegetation.
Since there were no runways, the plane was instructed to land vertically
in that area. Once they were on the ground, the men loaded their
backpacks with what they thought was necessary. The door of the plane
was opened, and the men set foot on amazonia for the first time in
their lives.
The men feel as if they have entered another world. All around, the
only color they see is green. The air is also filled with the sounds
of exotic animals, sounds the likes of which they have never heard
before. As the men scan their surroundings, they soon find a trail in
the jungle. With their senses on full alert, they start to carefully
and slowly make their way down the trail. After around 30 minutes,
the trail finally leads them to a vast open space in the jungle. They
have reached the area that they had observed from the plane.
it is now that they see the source of the electrical activity that the
government's supercomputers had picked up. They observe what seem to
be around 100 beautiful homes. They also hear evidence of human life :
the sounds of women talking and laughing. Hearing the sounds of the
women had this unbelievable effect on the men. It went beyond
uplifting their spirits. they now knew that there was a chance for
humanity to escape extinction.
