The friendship between Asuka and Rei had truly been blossoming after the mission that Rei had embarked on. Of course, this information was never given to Asuka as to not bother or irritate her at the thought of having that “doll” Rei go inside her and save her. They had been talking more and more with each passing day. Cooperating even better than ever whenever they had to fight off the next Angel or so. The pilots had already been taken out of the EVA Units and were in the locker room together.

Asuka smiled and was recounting the mission they had both undertaken while she changed out of her plugsuit to put on more casual clothes. Unannounced to Asuka, Rei had been looking over shoulder. “So Rei, read any good books lately?”

“I’m currently reading a book on quantum physics. All forms of science are just so incredibly fascinating to me. The pursuit of knowledge and knowing we may possibly never know everything. 

Asuka wasn’t expecting such a heady answer but it was an answer nonetheless. “Sure is humid today.”

“It is.”

“Where are we going to eat” asked Rei, starting the conversation for the first time.

“I was thinking we’d go grab some fast food, ya know, something casual.”

“As long as I can get a salad or something.”

That fact completely slipped her mind. She forgot that Rei doesn’t like eating meat all that much. But she felt a quick sense of relief knowing that most, if not all, fast food places order some form of vegan food. 

By the time Rei and Asuka made it to WcDonalds, rush hour had already passed making it quicker and easier for them to finally order there food.

They finally entered the air conditioned WcDonalds. Asuka let out a sigh of relief once that nice cool ventilated air rubbed against her skin. She opened her sundress a little bit just so the air could cool off her breasts. She looked over at Rei and noticed that the heat must’ve really gotten to her. “Do you know what you want” asked Asuka.

“Yes. I think I’ll get a Kale Salad. How about you?”

“I’m gonna get myself a burger. I love them so much.”

Rei watched as Asuka licked her lips at the anticipation of food. She realized this would be the first time since the mission that they’d be eating together. They both got the food they ordered and sat together at a table in the more secluded corner of the restaurant. Both of them weren’t particularly fond of eating with a crowd surrounding them, and Asuka knew this was especially true for someone as shy and timid as Rei. 

Before eating, Asuka watched as Rei slowly stretched her arms out. Her blue eyes slowly examined as Rei’s pale arms stretched for comfort, examining the dark spot that was in the armpit of her button up. Rei walked right up to her bed and rested her back on the bed while she took a deep sigh and stared at the ceiling. 

Asuka looked around in surprise, Rei’s place was kind of a dump. There was scuff marks on the ground from shoes, dirty clothing lying about, she felt a bit grossed out about it. “Even Misato’s place isn’t this messy” she thought to herself.  

“I’ll cross the bridge when I come to it” Rei said to herself and got herself back up. She seemed to have been able to knock herself out of the negative headspace that had been resting within for the entire walk home. “I should really just relax.” She reached downward to take her shoes off, letting her white socked feet plop onto the ground. Rei looked at them and examined the dark, almost yellowish marks where her feet would be on the soles of the shoes. “I wonder if my feet smell” she said to herself.

Asuka hopped off the shoe once Rei’s massive hand came down to take her shoe off. She watched as Rei’s massive feet came out of them. It was a shocking site to her of Rei’s massive socked feet being the size of her own EVA Unit. Suddenly, a smell started to permeate around her. While Rei was walking to her bed, she picked up a book labeled Quantum Physics and proceeded to get out her nail polish set. She sat up against her pillow while she took out all the equiptment she’d need to complete her pedicure. This was the first time that she’d really done any of this so it was a mixture of exciting and a bit scary. She didn’t know what color she wanted to make her toenails. She looked through the vast rainbow of colors throughout the set and decided on black since it’s a color that can go with anything.
