I suppose I should have expected this when the military higher-up wasn't a Reasonable Authority Figure earlier

Author's Response:

Yeah Griselda probably didn't put a ton of resources into that murder investigation lol

@Greenanon That’s fair.

Definitely seems like a fitting way to wrap up her character-arc though.

I’d imagine the elves in this universe draw their magic from a different god/goddess? Seems like they can shrink people at will.

Author's Response:

To go into the mechanics of magic in the setting you have divine blessings which generally require the blessing and service of a god/demon, this can be just magical power or other blessings. To use them you need to obviously be right with your deity. There are also plenty of creatures with innate magical ability, some humans, most elves, etc, some people with more than others and different talents with it. Elves don't need to ask a god for permission to use a shrink spell, they have enough power to do it on their own.

Cynthia has a good amount of innate magical ability (rarer in Amazons than baseline humans) and she's also serving her goddess, consider that Dirk finds her on par with other mages hes fought despite her relative lack of experience.

I'd suggest calling on a priest/ess of Zenovia for help, but she might think the idea of Griselda asserting herself over the situation appealing.

How do the Amazons regard Zenovia? Or is her worship still functionally extinct save for one relatively small temple?

Author's Response:

Her worship is still mostly just around Vann's temple, I really need to make a map for the setting at some point but Champion of the Goddess takes place in a kingdom to the Empire's northwest and to the north of the summer court Elves.

I would guess that Amazons worshiping Zenovia would be seen as rather extreme, a lot of their faith is built around the idea of protecting and leading, you might say that they believe with great power comes great responsibility and their goddess gave them great power. Zenovia is more about domination and being selfish, while she has her moments of goodness she's a much more neutral goddess and won't be looking to do good for it's own sake, most of the miracles we saw her hand out were for Vann who she has a personal affection for after all.

Great to see more of Cynthia’s size changing abilities in this chapter.

Now I’m curious to see if she can pull off something similar outside the dream-world. If she’s somehow involved in the plan to save the day, seems like now would be a good time to put such a power to use.

Author's Response:

Pulling stuff off in dreams is one thing, the real world application would require a lot of favor from her goddess.

could he give the property way? and possibly go to the church to church the fight it?

can't wait to see how he gets out of this

I hate forced marriages

Author's Response:

He's got the church on his side on a local level, but the priestesses of Diana don't have as firm of a hierarchy and institutional power as organized religions do irl, still having Cynthia on his side is important.
