Ah, I've known a couple of people like Etris. Infinitely knowledgeable yet with minimal comprehension or ability to properly apply what they learned. Infinite pride, infinite power and infinite cruelty in one shiny package. Utixx should have kept her mouth shut until they got back to the university.
Wish there had been a bit more exploration of the meaty body. That sounds wrong, but now that I've typed it, I'm sticking to it.
I thought Etris trying to hug people with her foot and not realizing that they need air was hilarious. As was the "Monsters win!" and the whole Canada-US war concept in general. Oh and that the award for best statue was a continent crushing kiss.
Her repeated and elevating cruelty across the entire universe was delicious especially since she forced Utixx to endure every single species even after their worlds were ended.
All in all, out of the 7 stories, I'd order them from best to least best:
Envy, Pride, Lust, Wrath, Sloth, Greed and Gluttony.
Envy: it was more character driven, very creative conceptually, and I imagine that you could do more stories from their world since it was a slice of life style story.
Pride: it was still character driven and creative and so cruel that it's literally beyond mortal and lower divine comprehension.
Lust: after reading it, I still think you struck gold with the 'Sadistic Space Lesbians' title.
Wrath: it was a bit humorous and the boss battle concept was creative.
Sloth: I liked that the tiny got to meet his Broby Buddy at the end. Never meet your heroes, kids.
Author's Response:
Thank you so much for reading this story, and leaving such a detailed review on it and the series as a whole. I really do appreciate it!
Utixx not going to the university first definitely was a very unfortunate, very impactful mistake.
I think I know what you mean by the body stuff don't worry. From Etris's perspective though, being even city stomping-sizes was a bit 'small' hence why the interactions were mostly on the giga+ scale.
And thanks for sharing your thoughts on her 'misunderstandings' and such earlier on! I wanted to convey how due to her powers and self-centeredness she'd be prone to all those sorts of wacky misunderstandings at humanity's expense. That same sort of sheer distance in ability from other lifeforms helped her to be so cruel later on though, perhaps.
To repeat myself, thanks again for sharing your thoughts on the other stories in the series here. I'm happy Envy in particular was enjoyed since it was one of my first more character-driven stuff. I'm also glad you found Wrath a bit funny!

This was a wonderful story! I really enjoyed seeing how far Etris was off from what she should've been doing, and how she managed to twist things and ended up making things go her way in the end. There's something absolutely delightful in seeing those that should not have power end up having far more than they should. Really lovely story, thank you very much!

Thanks so much for reading and sharing your thoughts Jess!
I'm happy you enjoyed seeing the lengths Etris went to "get her way". This story was at least partially motivated by the idea of a self-centered divine being faced with the prospect of "being wrong" and how they'd handle it. I figured a normal person with an arrogant self-image might have to adjust their perspectives or deny reality to cope in that situation. Etris, however, has amazing powers to use to try and "prove her points". Why deny reality when she can usually just "bend" it? That sort of thing.
Undeserved power--and just power-trips and powers in general--are some favorite themes of mine as well. I presently have more than a few ideas on those concepts. So, there should be more stories featuring that content in the future! I might revisit this setting, even.
Anyways, thanks again!

Thanks so much! I might revisit the setting in future works. It has a lot of potential for that I think.
