Just a note though, I don't think 'aijin' is the word you're looking for. It's true that can mean 'mistress', but that's a mistress as in a woman with whom a man is having an extramarital affair. It's also often used to refer to any form of lover that would not ordinarily be accepted by society, frequently referring to a man's male lover. It's not something you'd usually call someone to show respect.
