A simultaneously horrific and cathartic little tale about the tables being turned. Love the contrast between the celestial's sweetness/empathy and her doling out justice callously and all-encompassingly.
I do wonder how long this dose-of-their-own-medicine when administered by such a long-lived psychic being would end up lasting. Does our species end up paying for the sins of their forebears in perpetuity? Or, in a few (or many) generations on, when all the animals in Isabel's control who benefitted from a system that killed and imprisoned and forcefully bred other animals have met their fitting ends, is there a Garden of Eden (or whatever Isabel would call it) where Earth life lives in balanced harmony? I don't really need a firm answer to that question or anything. (Isabel seems empathetic enough that I'll dare hope that the latter is more likely.)
Really nice first story, I would certainly enjoy reading the View From Below, but happily my imagination is spinning on its own with the flavor you provided already. Thank you for writing this!
Author's Response:
Thank you friend, truth be told, this was more a practice in writing than a fully fleshed out story with complex concepts, motives, or progression behind the characters. Still, I may touchup or revist the setting and characters, though it would be after finishing my second story.
