Summary:

After the success of Season One, the mysterious studio that runs the Shrinking Show commissions a new season with eight new contestants! One again, eight contestants arrive at the set of this secretive reality show, only learning upon arrival that they will be shrunk down bit by bit, taking part in various competitions along the way. When a contestant shrinks to 1/16th of their normal size they are eliminated--usually. Things are a bit more complicated this time around.

Season Two is longer, raunchier, and all-around better than Season One. As it is a new cast of contestants, it is its own story and you do not need to read Season One to understand what is going on, but it wouldn't hurt.

Welcome back! Women always win, so Jerry's out. I want to see Carla win, so it'll probably be Vera.

Author's Response:

I'm glad to be back!

Paul's note to Vera was a sweet thing to do.

This story is doing pretty good for fresh situations with good variety, and this chapter is a good example.

Now all four of them are breaking down. I'm starting to feel sorry for all of them.

Everyone in the compound is so nice now. They all get along very well, and Sherri has gone from Betty Lite when Tom arrived, to a very considerate girlfriend.

Then we have Paul and Carla, who are just trying to survive Betty, and Dale, who is now a victim of both rape and domestic violence. I feel sorry for him. Let's see what they're like.

Author's Response:

Yes, we'll be visiting the "naughty" ones next!

This is an excellent example of a gentle giantess story. Sherri is very kind toward Jerry, and together they have a fun date.

The hints about Betty suggest that you're setting up for something...

Author's Response:

Thank you!

Yes, we are learning a little bit more about Betty here. Part of it is just Sherri begining to figure out what anyone who read the epiloge to Season One aleady knows, but much of it is new information that will come into play later!

This is the most interesting competition yet. There are good surprises, and all the stuff in the maze is intriguing and amusing. There have been all sort of wacky adventures.

I'm a bit surprised that Dale won. I figured Betty would have her sights on him, and women tend to do better in general. This is some nice variety.

Hailey, Andy and Carla have three ribbons. Jerry and Vera have two ribbons. Hailey, Andy and Vera will probably get through, leaving Carla and Jerry.

In the game: Marie, Dale, Hailey, Vera, Andy.

With Betty and Sherri: Paul, Jerry, Carla, Let's see if I'm right.

Author's Response:

I tried to not always go for what people would expect to happen in this story--I'm pretty sure no one saw Dale coming out first!

You'll see if your predictions are correct very soon!

Well that's a change in relationships. Good thing, too: it keeps things interesting. This story is definitely a big improvement over Season 1.

Author's Response:

Thanks! I think so too.

Well, I didn't expect anyone to dominate Sherri like that, but Carla did. That was fun to read.

Author's Response:

Woot!

I bet Betty is about to cause a turning point in Paul's character arc, before giving him back. Paul's arc has been about dealing with his dwindling power, and he's almost hit bottom. He will be transformed, or broken.

So Andy has a thing going with Marie and Carla. This could with jealously or a full-on threesome.

Any time Betty says that something is random, I assume that she rigged it for her own amusement. Her statement that everyone was so predictable she didn't have to rig anything was interesting.

Author's Response:

Betty is indeed the chessmaster! And Andy has to tread carefully here!

“There’s no drive to the market. In a few years things will slow down completely.” And this was written before September 2008, I gather.

Well look at that, are Dale and Paul starting to adapt? Maybe things will get better for them.

Prediction: Marie and Carla will grow, and the others will get smaller. Hailey could either become more of a tyrant, or turn around.

Author's Response:

Huh, I guess I'm a fortune teller, lol. (Season Two was finished in July 2008; this chapter was probably written in late 2006 / early 2007)

Welcome back. The last one was good, so I expect great things out of this story.

My guess is that Sherri is the four inch person running around. What she was up to, I have no idea.

I've noticed some trends: Bill and Paul are both ex-Navy. Dale and Dave seem similar in some ways, though not identical. Both stories have a quiet, distant woman (Sandra and Carla).

When you say written from 2006-2008, do you mean you spent 2-3 years writing this?

Author's Response:

There are a couple similarities between the characters of the two seasons, but I tried to make sure the characters weren't mere repeats of Season One characters. And I when I said I wrote it from 2006 to 2008, it would be more accurate to say that I wrote it over the course of two years rather than took two years to write it. I started the story in October 2006 and wrote about the first 80 pages over a couple weeks, then I put it aside, picking it up every few months or so to add more, and I finished it with a bit of a final thrust in July 2008.

Not much action in this chapter, but we got to see the characters act and interact a fair bit, and their personalities are emerging. I'm curious to see what kind of games this story will have, and I was trying to guess what would happen to who. Dale and Hailey may break up, or wind up like Sandra and Bill. Paul seems like he'll be a domineering one, and so will get shrunk relatively quickly. Andy and Marie will love being shrunk.

I'm also curious to see what Betty and Sherri do when the contestants aren't around, whether Sherri knows about the scientists, and whether the machines actually can make you taller than your original height.

Author's Response:

I can tell you that some of these questions are going to be answered soon!

These kinds of longer-form stories I like to ramp up to things slowly, but when it gets going, it's going to be pretty wild.

Current status:

Big: Paul, Andy, Vera, Carla
Small: Dale, Jerry, Hailey, Marie

Next chapter. Yes, I counted:

Big: Andy, Vera, Carla, Marie
Small: Paul, Dale, Jerry, Hailey

And the women get the advantage in the second round. This being Giantessworld, of course you're going to go for giant women primarily, but I have reasons for wondering if that's how people would vote in real life.

I like the blocking vote. The added complication makes it more interesting.

Andy may think Hailey is a little ditzy, but her interest in astronomy suggests that she's smarter than she lets on.

And do ramp up slowly! I expect my sex scenes to be a part of a proper story, and so it's good that you're taking the time to build up.

Would Betty ever allow herself to be shrunk?

Author's Response:

It's funny, because when I was writing the Shrinking Show (both seasons) I actually needed to have a chart to keep track of who was what size at what time! Hopefully it doesn't get too confusing for the readers as things get more complicated.

I think it is likely we would have more large women than men in real life if this kind of competition played out. This is largely because the men would see each other as competition and try to shrink one another rather than the women. The women might do that to each other too, but I think the women would be scared of men larger than them so they might go for shrinking the men as well, which would tip the scales. I could be wrong though, but that's the general thought behind how it turns out in these stories.

As far as Betty, she likes to be in control. Beyond that her preferences and intentions are for now a Mystery...

@Benton: Funny that you mentioned the chart. Sometimes I had to think to remember who was large and who was small, so it would actually be a good idea to add reminders, whether charts or brief mentions.

Author's Response:

hmm, I could include a brief guide in the author's notes if that helps.

I can't say which team is more likely to be shrunk. Andy has a good reason in that he wants to be shrunk, but Paul has a good reason in that he's in for a nasty fall when he's shrunk with that attitude.

“Betty is…” Sherri’s face broke out into a knowing smile. “She’s something else, I can tell you that. There’s a lot that you don’t know about her.”

“What does she do with you back there?” Andy asked.

“I’m not going to answer that!” Sherri said.

It sounds like something's going on back there...

Author's Response:

Perhaps it's a little bit of foreshadowing...

Jerry is definitely playing it right here. He hasn't offended anybody, and everybody feels safe with him. That suggests that he's about to get bigger, and Paul and Vera are about to get smaller.

It's good that you spent so much time describing the characters in action. You get to know people by seeing them talk and act, not by reading a list of one-word traits.

Author's Response:

Jerry is definitely a low-key, non-offensive kind of guy. The tough guys are the ones that get themselves into trouble, as we see. And I'm glad you like my approach with the characters. I definitely do like to think of them as if they were actual people rather than just a list of a few traits. I also tried to make it so that people could see any character in a positive or negative light depending on their viewpoint, although I am sure fan favorites are going to emerge.

The Carla-Andy scene was a nice hint of things to come. I figure Carla will stay big for awhile while Andy gets smaller, so that they can get up to some crazy stuff.

The Marie-Dale scene was a good gentle giantess moment, a good way of fleshing out Marie's character, and marks a turning point in Dale's character. It seems to me that it was the ambiance, and Marie's caring nature, that helped ease Dale into his new state.

Paul's new attitude toward Andy is interesting. He's either changing, or thinks he needs to put on a nicer act now that he's small.

You wrote Dave instead of Dale alot. Things like that need to be caught in proofreading.

Author's Response:

It's kind of cool how the Carla-Andy relationship is the thing that is getting the most attention--I actually thought this might be the case even as I wrote it. Also, I checked and there were 19 instances of "Dave" instead of "Dale" - how embarassing!

Paul just keeps on sinking. I can see him breaking eventually.

And we now have a threesome, and one where the man is in the middle sizewise. This is another unusual sexual adventure.

Author's Response:

It's always fun to do something different with the size configurations in sex scenes like this! And yes, Paul is not doing well.

Yes indeed, Tom is back for a visit.
