Author's Chapter Notes:

getting a little creative to give Max some space.

11/28/20XX

It took a little while to get used to the new house. As it turns out living mostly in the walls makes it difficult to interact with either Max or Jenna. But don’t get me wrong, it is better this way. Earlier this morning I tried to walk across the kitchen to find some food, only to realize that from my position on the floor the nearest ledge was 20 feet above me. As I turned to make my way back into the wall Max entered the room. She was still half asleep and didn’t see me right in front of her. Her enormous foot landed right beside me, only a few feet from crushing me entirely. I was too far away and too small for her to hear my yelp of shock and I quickly made it back to safety to catch my breath. After that harrowing experience I made a point of staying in or near the sections of the house meant for people my size.

Max was still “taking it easy” this largely meant relaxing in her comfy chair and listening to audio books. I was intrigued by the massive tablet and headset she used for this. I assumed they were once again a custom order funded by her lucrative work. The tablet looked almost identical to a normal tablet, apart from being 8 feet long and 6 feet wide. I was able to activate the touch screen using my whole hand and set myself up in between her huge headset to try and listen to some music. That was a mistake. It turns out the larger you are the louder things need to be to be picked up by your ears. I’m not sure how loud Max’s headphones were but they just about stopped my heart when they started playing. I was still recovering when Max lifted me up to speak to me.

“Hey, your mom is here and she brought a guest. Do ya think you could entertain them? I need to….calm down a bit.” She blushed slightly and looked at me with her big puppy dog eyes.

“Yeah, sure I’ll handle it.” I said, maybe a little louder than was necessary thanks to my ringing ears.

“Great! I’ll drop you off.” Max spun on her heels and carried me over to the living room. She placed me down by a door in the wall that led to a more normal sized living space. “They’re already inside, just waiting for you. Have fun!” She winked at me in a way that led me to believe I probably wouldn’t. I was half right.

The moment I entered the smaller room I was greeted with a shrill scream of excitement and found myself winded as a large body collided with my own.

“Trevy! I missed you!!!” The voice belonged to Jasmine, my cousin on my mother’s side.

“Mmmph!” I replied, smothered by Jasmine’s embrace. I managed to separate myself for a moment and hold her at arm’s length. “Hey Jas, you’ve...grown…” For the second time that day I was shocked. Jasmine had always been a tiny girl, not so anymore. Her long auburn hair fell loosely over her shoulder and down to her stomach. She had a slightly bookish look but always struck me as the kind of girl who was one makeover montage away from being a total babe. If memory served she should be 18 as of last week. I’d always remembered being head and shoulders taller than her and yet the girl in front of me towered over me. It took me a moment to remember how small I was now.

“Haha! Not really, I’m still only 4’10.  But you shrunk! You’re so short now!” Jasmine grinned widely and once again pulled me into a tight hug. Due to my now relatively frail frame she was no doubt far stronger than I was as well, I had no chance.

“Now, now.” My mother stood and placed a hand on Jasmine’s shoulder. “Let the poor boy breathe!” Jasmine relinquished her viper like grip to allow my mother to kneel down and give me a light hug. If I thought Jasmine looked big my mom was on a whole other level. She had to be a least twice my height and many times more my weight. “How are you sweetie? Are Max and Jenna treating you well?”

“Yeah mom, I’m great. What’s up with you? When did Jasmine get here?”

“Things are….good.” As she stood I swore I saw her face redden slightly. “She arrived late last night. I asked my sister if she could come down.”

“Oh? What for?” Jasmine took offence at this.

“What, I can’t come down to visit my little cousin around the holidays?” She crossed her arms and tied to look intimidatingly down her nose at me. It didn’t really work.

“Oh hush, she’s here because I think I’ve found a way around her little problem.”

“What little problem.” Jasmin and I asked in unison. My mother’s face really did turn red this time.

“Well….that you’re so little.” Jasmine looked confused but I caught on immediately.

“You can’t be serious.”

“Deadly.”  My mother seemed convinced and there likely wasn’t anything I could do or say to change her mind.

“Okay so, why are you here then? Do you need some of Max’s….stuff?” I gave Jasmine a glance, unsure of how much she knew.

“No I have some of my own I’m going to share.” My mother reached into her purse and pulled out a small vial containing a cloudy liquid. “We’re here because I need someone to watch over her while she grows.” I was about to object but Jasmine spoke first.

“Grows? You mean that stuff will make me taller?” She was excited now. My mom smiled and handed the vial down to her.

“That’s right! It’s only a small dose, we wouldn’t want you getting infected but this should add a foot or more to your height.”

“A FOOT OR MORE?!” Once again Jasmine and I were in sync.

“Why do I have to watch her? Why can’t you?” I tried to protest.

“Because there are things at our house that she is too young to see just yet.” That shut me up. Mostly because I was trying not to imagine what those things were. “Besides, you had so much fun measuring your girlfriend when she first started growing and she should be done before the end of the month so it won’t get in the way.” My mother spoke with such authority and confidence that I had no choice but to concede.

“Alright fine, she can stay.” I mumbled.

“Will this make me as big as the lady who let us in?” Jasmine asked excitedly as she opened the vial.

“You mean Max?” I answered. “Lord I hope not.” Jasmine ignored me and downed the contents in one swig. She gagged slightly before clearing her throat.

“Tastes like fish!” She complained loudly. My mother and I exchanged knowing looks.

“Alright well I’d best be off.” My mother started for the door before turning to say one last thing. “I left some food in your fridge. It should be enough for the both of you. Love you lots! Mwah!” She blew a kiss as she turned to leave. Even though she was already bent at the waist to fit through my smaller than normal door she still ramed her forehead into its frame. I winced as I saw the wood crack slightly. She mumbled something about “doors these days” before swooping under and out.

I turned to find Jasmin standing right infront of me. I looked up into her bright green eyes as she smiled.

“I can’t wait to be even taller than you!” She oozed excitement. I feigned a smile in return. I didn’t sign up for this.

Chapter End Notes:

I'm thinking of doing anothe bonus with Alison, maybe following her around "a day in the life" style to see how things have changed for her.
