Thanks to updated transparency laws passed by Congress several years ago, the CIA and other secretive US agencies were forced to declassify countless troves of previously hidden information, and release them to the public. Most of the material was relatively inconsequential––designs for slightly more efficient semiconductors, reports on outdated spying techniques, and an admission that ‘aliens’ were really just the government all along. But one declassified technology was different: nanotechnology––specifically the ability of the CIA to create small, easy to produce, quantum-entangled receivers which could shrink objects and people through the use of antimatter. Although the shrinking receiver itself could be produced at minimal cost, it required connecting to a central server containing antimatter, which would teleport the target, shrink it, and send it back, or to any other receiver. An interesting side effect was that targets could become much tougher when shrunken down, depending on the server’s settings.
Only a few companies could afford such complex antimatter servers, and it ended up mostly being used by shipping and the travel industry. However, a group of entrepreneurs saw an intriguing new opportunity. They created a app called Minuit (‘midnight’ in French), which harnessed this new technology to create a dating experience like no other. Using Minuit’s antimatter server, users could match with a partner, choose their size, durability, and for how long they would be shrunken down. In theory, this was a safe system, but with one caveat: after being shrunk, users no longer had access to their phone, so they had no way to regrow early or leave their match. But that didn’t seem to stop people from flocking to the new app.
Harry was a young, healthy, but overall unremarkable man, who had worked in retail at the local mall for the past several years. He had dated a couple women over the years, but never felt any particular spark with ant of them. He had also tried some dating apps in the past, but didn’t have much success. That’s why he was so excited when he heard about Minuit, which had a phenomenal ratio of male and female user––apparently a lot of women were discovering their dominant side, and not too many men were keen on being shrunken down. Even though Harry didn’t have a particular interest in size play, he decided to give Minuit a try. After all, what could go wrong?
One day after getting back from his job, Harry was laying on his bed, bored and scrolling on his phone, when he read an article about an interesting new dating app called Minuit.Even though Harry didn’t have a particular interest in size play, he decided to give Minuit a try. After all, what could go wrong?
Harry got to work setting up his Minuit account. He added his name, age, location, sexual orientation, a few photos, and a generic bio. Next, he had to choose his preferences for his size, durability, duration, and any potential matches. He didn’t know (or care) too much about the size-specific settings, so chose the recommended settings: 5 inches, high-durability, and 12 hours duration. With that done, Harry was presented with one final disclaimer:
Minuit is a mature dating app for consenting adults. While consent is paramount in our community, you acknowledge that for the duration of your shrinking, you will not have access to your phone, and thus have no way to terminate a match or regrow early. Communicate clearly with your partner about rules and conditions before shrinking
“Meh, whatever,” Harry muttered to himself, clicking ‘agree’ without a second thought. It was Friday afternoon, he was sexually frustrated, and he was anxious to make some plans for the night. There was no time to lose. Harry went to the main page of the app and started scrolling.
Hazel, 28: looking for a platonic shrink to help with housekeeping for the night :)
Harry rolled his eyes and swiped left––he worked enough already, he didn’t need to do it for free for some girl!
Mary, 30: looking for shrunken board game partner for the evening, swipe right if you think you can beat me!
Harry hesitated, but swiped left again, deciding he wanted to find someone a bit more ‘intense’ to spend his time with.
Sabrina, 22: I need a panty slave while I go out clubbing with the girls. I’m not violent, but not kind, either. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
“Woah.” Harry was floored at how confident and direct Sabrina’s bio was, but he was even more surprised when I noticed how incredibly hard he had become at the idea of being this random girl’s panty slave for the evening. Sabrina was 5’5” with medium-length brunette hair, had a cute body that was curvy in the right places, and had an incredibly hot face with piercing brown eyes. Her bio swirled through Harry’s thoughts––I’m not violent, but not kind, either––what did that even mean?
Harry knew he should be careful, especially for his first time using Minuit, but his dick was leading the way instead of his mind. He swiped right. He was amazed to instantly get a notification: Congratulations, you matched with Sabrina! Maybe the ratios on this app really were as good as he read about! Harry navigated to the new chat with Sabrina, and sent a message.
So, you’re going clubbing tonight? Sounds fun!
After hitting send, Harry immediately cringed. What kind of message was that? No pickup line, no compliment, nothing. Of course she was going clubbing! She said it in her bio! Harry let out a sigh, no wonder I am alone, I’m so fucking hopeless…
Before he could feel too bad for himself, his phone buzzed with a new message from Sabrina. Probably more fun for me than for you. I’m leaving in 40 minutes, you ready?
Harry was absolutely throbbing hard, and before he could even think through what he was getting himself into, he replied––yes…I think I’m ready…
Good boy, Sabrina typed back, and a ‘confirm shrinking?’ notification popped up on Harry’s phone.
So this is it, Harry thought to himself, and pressed ‘confirm’. Harry saw a flash from his phone, and felt a fuzzy, electric warmth spreading all over his body, as the room started spinning around him. Then everything turned to black.
