Doctor Vivian Faye was finally wrapping up her tests for the evening in the lab bunker in Silicon Valley. The tests were going well, but she wasn’t sure if it was going perfectly. She took off her glasses, rubbed her exhausted eyes, sipped her water, and signed off on her computer for the night. She’d been staying at the labs extra late recently due to deadlines and tonight she knew she was going to be late for dinner at home with her daughter Amelia. She quickly shut off the main lights, leaving only the auxiliaries on and headed out the door. To her worn out awareness, she thought she had locked everything up, but unfortunately, she hadn’t.
Trevor was a janitor at the silicon lab recreation area working the night shift. He spent his nights cleaning, sweeping the floors and mopping up any debris that the many scientists coming in and out of the labs would leave in the main halls outside of the restricted areas. He was always curious what kind of experiments they were doing in the labs, but he knew that they always locked the doors very securely every night. But just for the hell of it every week or so he would walk up and double check just in case. He was so bored and so curious he simply couldn’t help it and you always miss the shots you don’t take, right?
Trevor wasn’t too worried about losing his job over such a security breach. He was a janitor. He had been a janitor at many places before the silicon labs. It was just a pleasant coincidence that he actually worked at a place that he had a passing interest in what was really being done behind the scene. So throwing caution to the wind Trevor headed down the hallways towards the restricted sections, the labs where Dr Vivian had just exited from.
Trevor had said hi to Dr. Vivian once or twice in the past. She was a very beautiful middle-aged lab assistant… or was she the lab manager? He didn’t know, but he was mesmerized by her flowing ruby red hair, her narrow elven face, her generous bosom. But her figure truly showed its value a little lower down. Dr. Vivian wasn’t exactly overweight, but it was apparent that she enjoyed her sweets. She had just enough of a plump belly for it to be considered a “pudge”. Her curvy hourglass figure blossomed into very generous hips and ample thighs. Whenever Dr. Vivian walked by Trevor, he always had to pause and glance as she passed at her breathtaking backside, rocking left and right, hypnotizing him. What a woman.
Trevor thought about Dr. Vivian as he approached the security door to the labs. To his elated surprise, tonight the doors were not fully locked! He noticed that Dr. Vivian had left in a hurry in retrospect. And so trying to contain his excitement, Trevor slowly unlatched the door and looked inside. What a very interesting looking lab, he thought to himself. The lab room was quite large, and there were many oddities in curiosities in various corners of the space. The auxiliary lights were still on so he didn’t have to feel his way around as there was enough light to see where he was going. And there was a whirring sound. Curious, Trevor leaned his mop against one of the control counters and walked towards it.
Unbeknownst to Trevor Dr. Vivian truly did leave the lab too much of a hurry. Not only forgetting to lock the doors, but also forgetting to fully shut down the experiment that was in the lab. This experiment, which was a type of matter transformer much like you’ve heard in science fiction, could alter the space between atoms and ultimately change the size of different objects. It was very new cutting edge technology, and it was still being understood by the people who were testing and inventing it, Dr. Vivian included.
As Trevor got closer to the noise, he wondered what really was being done here in these mysterious labs. There weren’t any notes on the countertops that he could spy that could give him a clue, and anything on the idle screens were far too technical for him to truly understand. He was only a janitor after all. Trevor cautiously approached a stage-looking area… or was it some kind of, altar? The mop that Trevor had leaned against one of the counters was unfortunately not balanced correctly, and while it remained against the countertop for a solid moment, it began to fall over. there was a very important button on the perpendicular control counter that the falling mop handle made contact with, and Trevor heard a distinct clicking sound. Before Trevor could fully understand what the clicking sound meant it had initiated. There was suddenly a loud noise and blind flashing, forcing the bewildered Trevor to cover his eyes, before suddenly passing out.
