My favorite part of this story, by far (and there are a LOT of favorite parts don't get me wrong) is that subtle understanding that in a weird roundabout way, its almost like Nastalia is slowly coming to see Rickard's own personship, in that she takes an insane amount of pleasure out of grinding it into nothingness in between long conversations about politics and philosophy. It's a weird mirror of how Rickard's slowly losing his own sense of personship, it's like they're slowly blending into each other's perspectives. Honestly I kinda hope that by the end of the story even after Ro- erm, Rickard's lost everything they maintain that uneasy dynamic.

Nice save there at the end! There is certainly a focus on how far one can fall and how much pleasure the act can bring the one to have defeated him. Yet at the same time Nalista does indeed enjoy her exchanges with him. Just clearly enjoys breaking him like a twig a bit more. Anyway, glad you are enjoying!

Btw, after reading their conversation i suddenly remembered elves of Elnead cheering not the name of Empress but Nalista's.... And once the war is over, influential person like her may be deemed dangereous and find herself as the target of numerous political intrigues...
