So far its starting off good just please don't have hate to be the theme like so many authors do to me that ruins a story.

You're off to an amazing start! Really like how you're setting up the scene and the relationships Alex has with his family. It's totally fine that it's a slow burn, just makes it much more worth it. Really looking forward to more time with the mother. I wonder if she even realizes the affect she has on him. Can't wait for the next chapter!
