My preferences aside, I really like how you are able to write a attention grabbing first chapter with an intriguing cliffhanger.

You established the set up and scene between the two characters, and ended it in a way where the audience knows what it will lead up towards and what can happen. And still question where the direction of the story between the characters will lead towards and how it will be played out.

You also established the premise really well.

Great job on the chapter layout and writing.
