I think the sales pitch will work. They will find the island. And proabely get shrunk for their troubles.

Author's Response: LOL! You just reminded me of an old joke. This guy goes to a carnival and he sees a funhouse-type structure that has a sign at the main entrance reading: "Man Eating Alligator ($1.00)." So, he buys a ticket and goes inside. And, what does he see? A man eating an alligator...made of cotton candy!
