It's a bit more complicated than that at this point in the story. Jake pretty much has no choice given the conditions Kendra has given him and he sees Kelly as unattainable because of the boyfriend and everything else. Given the circumstances, it's very hard for our main character to pick a side. But perhaps, I've said too much.
