Same old double standard. A woman can claim her relationship with a younger man is purely Platonic. But, when a man (truthfully, in this case!) says the same thing about his relationship with younger woman (a celibate vegetarian, in this case!), he is totally disbelieved. Either way; this was a good story. Perhaps not a happily-ended one. But, still good, just the same.
