These people are insanley brave and then at the end Hayes seems to state the obvious. I want to have sympathy but these people were asking for trouble.

An interesting start. Rather than have the time skips I think it would have been better to have a prolouge, but that's just me.

This story seems pretty good so far (so far being I'm halfway through the first chapter), but just one thing I have to point out--95% is actually a pretty distant DNA match. Humans share 97-99% of their DNA with most animals, and plants are only a little further off.
