Here's an idea for a short story, or possibly a chapter. The time spent between Jack, Brian and Kelly's escape and the eventual defeat of Julia/recapture or whatever you have planned, from the perspective of Gina, who must face taking care of Brian Jr and having Julia constantly breathing down her neck.

Author's Response:

This actually is something I considered doing as a chapter, but ultimately decided not to because the whole story has stayed in Jack's perspective up to this point. A short story from Gina's view showing the time while the others were escaped may be something I explore after this one is finished, however, because there is some potential for conflict there.

All I have to say is, WOW! Beautiful story. You wrote 70 chapters, and those 70 chapters are masterpieces. I just want to say thank you for actually taking the time to write this story and for really putting your best work into it. This definitely deserves a 10/10. My only complaint is that you don't update fast enough, but if taking a longer time means having a better chapter waiting the next day, then take your time. Just try to finish the story.

Author's Response:

Thanks very much. I try to only add chapters to this story when I'm really in the mood for it; I find they turn out a lot better then. My goal is to conclude this one after I've finished some of my other ongoing stories.

Wild guess: they plan to shoot the shrink ray at Julia by riccocheting it off of a mirror. Sort of like the Sargasso Sea laser cannon from the original JONNY QUEST pilot.

Author's Response:

Now there's a connection I wouldn't have imagined could've been made to this story, yet there it is.

Not sure about what's the new survival plan and even less sure about their confidence on winning it. Julia may notice that they were tampering the PMRD device and set a trap for a possible uncoming trip.

Although, I expect hits on either sides. I don't know who would finally win in this cat-mouse fight but it seems to me that everybody will loose (something).

Expectant. You've built such a masterpiece along the 70 chapters, thank you for taking this story so seriously. I'm enjoying it.

Author's Response:

There's definitely both good and bad still to come for these characters before the story ends. What order that happens in will be shown soon. :)

I have two ideas for the plan, the first if successful will save them all, the second might too but they'd have more work to do.

Great stuff and can't wait to read more.

Thanks for reviewing!

Reading smoki's review gave me an idea, so I'm going to make a prediction: They'll rig the PMRD to shrink Julia when she uses it, but she'll grow instead. This is partly based on a comment in Shrink Act Files, that there was a lot of her to cover up.

Author's Response:

You're right to think there are clues to this story's outcome in Shrink Act Files. Unfortunately, for now I can't comment on whether your theory is right or wrong.

I didn't dare exhale until they were all back inside the walls. Typically, when a character has a plan-altering idea like the Jack's while the plan is already under way, there's a cost associated with not having voiced the idea from the start.  In this case, it would have been Julia returning to her room ahead of schedule and spotting them before they could reach safety.

In this genre, "waiting for the other shoe to drop" takes on a whole new meaning.

Author's Response:

I appreciate your thought about the flow of the narrative with regard to characters changing plans - I was hoping to unnecessarily worry some people with that expectation, though wasn't sure how much it came across. Sometimes making you think the monster is coming is worse than making the monster come. Of course, this story still has a fairly full climax to come, and there's plenty of room left for multiple shoes to drop.

Well, I don't know what their new plan will be i admit. But I know they expect Julia to use the PRMD ...

Author's Response:

You're on the right track!

If they do all get through this, they'll need extensive rehab and therapy for PTSD. If there is an epilogue where they get out normal sized, I'd suggest looking up symptoms of PTSD and experiences of trauma survivors.

Author's Response:

PTSD is probably the most optimistic thing they could get out of this, aside from "squished painlessly."

OH FUCK YES.

But... Knowing you, you're probably going to throw us another curveball. If everything does go down the way the gang hopes, I'm one for hardcore torture on Julia. Of course, knowing exactly how psychotic she is, if their plan goes through, her own psychotic breakdown during her defeat will be torture enough.

Author's Response:

I'm probably spoiling precisely nothing by saying there are several curveballs, good and bad, still to come before this story is through. Thanks for reading!

Love the story overall and especially the interaction and character dialogue! I'm looking expectantly to seeing what kind of a plan Jack and team can possibly come up with to challenge Julia. My guess is that she is already 2 (giant) steps ahead of them and is just waiting for them to make their move. I can't see her killing them as much as I could see her recapturing them and crushing their spirits. I could see her doing something like forcing Brian and Gina to live together as husband and wife to create a family for the baby, destroying Jack's attachment to Gina. That's more Julia's style and she's shown herself to be very creative when dealing with and teaming her little charges. Thanks for writing.

Author's Response:

Thanks for reading/reviewing! And that's not a bad theory about Julia - not quite what she has planned for them, but you're right that it wouldn't be her style to just snuff them out without making them pay for it emotionally first.

Damn you and your recesses!

Er I mean this is pretty solid of a plan even if they don't all make, she gets her revenge on them but they for the most part take away he ability to become her own god...well until Judy founds an opportunity for all future Julia's to leave out their dreams possibly

Author's Response:

Hehe. Luckily, Judy won't really be founding that opportunity for another almost-20 years after this story, so at least the world would get a break for a little while.

If you plan to bring back Family Reunion's characters in PMRD universe, it's probably an sort of presquel.

Author's Response:

Family Reunion takes place before this story, so that would probably make sense.

This plan assumes, of course, that Julia's parents aren't in a position with Techilogic where they could just get a new one, and if they are what I'm guessing they are, they have a close relationship of some sort.

Author's Response:

Interesting thought, though regardless of whether or not Julia's parents are close to Techilogic, legally obtained PMRDs are incapable of affecting unauthorized targets, meaning Julia needs this one to be able to do her dirty work.

So, Jack is planning to lead them in a raid on the shrinker device that will irreparably damage it? Even if it means their (short-lived) recapture?

Talk about going kamikaze!

Author's Response:

Kamikaze is definitely a good word for it.

Jack is a brave kid with a good heart.  I genuinely hope he gets a hero's reward.   Over, and over again.

Author's Response:

We'll just have to wait and see, won't we? Hopefully this universe isn't too mean to make it all pointless. ;)

Wow close to the end that's crazy!! Like any good story you never want it to end. But see this one end might be sweet, since I thought you weren't going to finish it.

Author's Response:

Well, we're close to the beginning of the end, if that makes sense.  The final events of the story are going to last for a decent number of chapters. Shit's gonna go a little haywire.

Jack wanna go for mission suicide here! But will others be ok with him? can Goodwin be trusted?

Author's Response:

Trust in anything is probably not a luxury they have now.

You're building toward something riveting. In Shrink Act Files, and now here, you made it clear that a lot of abuses are happening around Techilogic, but gave next to no information about the company's higher-ups. I can't wait to find out what exactly Techilogic is and does.

Author's Response:

Thanks! I've purposefully been very frugal with information I provide on Techilogic to avoid spoiling stuff from future or ongoing stories, but more about them will continue to trickle out in relevant locations.
