Yeah she wasn't happy at all. Which isn't surprising since her whole world just flipped upside down. For the first time I'm excited to how this story will end. As these chapters dwindled.

Author's Response:

Glad to hear it! Thanks for reading.

Yes-yes-yes-yes-YES!

Poetic justice, at last.

:-D

Author's Response:

As well as other types of justice, with any luck!

What a twist! You are really punishing us, leaving us in agonazing ignorance and painful suspense after having read every chapter. Really great, smart and well written.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much. I am hoping all of the ignorance and suspense will be worth it in the end.

Jack's absolutely right.  Whatever else happens now, Julia's ancien régime is over, and they all should take pride in that.  Hearing her wail in despair was as sweet a reward as he could hope for.

So, she's done shrinking at 12 inches? Once she figures out she can't immediately reach Jack, her rage will turn to panic.

I'm partially relieved that I came up with a darker plot twist than what you actually went with. Gina's always had an irrational faith in Jack, but she's as capable of self-sacrifice as any of them at this point. I never thought Julia would harm the baby, but Gina might not have seen that, and she could easily have decided to remove Julia's leverage by killing the baby and herself, given an opportunity (she could quickly smother the baby and then provoke Julia to kill her).

Author's Response:

Yes, she's done shrinking at (roughly) 12 inches - really that's just an estimate on Jack's part, since it's only because the ray couldn't take its full effect before Julia threw it away.

That definitely would've been a dark twist! Perhaps it could've crossed Gina's mind as she spent all of this alone time while her friends were gone in the walls, though at this point she's seen too many innocents die to want to be responsible for one herself.

Guess Julia still has a soft spot for him.

Author's Response:

It may not last very long, though!

At last!! I was afraid you kept this story away for a while again but thank god you're back with it :)

Great chapter as always and exciting cliffhanger, it seems action is coming!!

By the way, have you ever thought on writing a book or something? I'm amazed about your writing skills and your deep ability to empathize with characters and build their emotions. I'd definitely buy anything you write ;)

Author's Response:

My hope is to finish this story by the end of the summer. Action is on the way. And I am interested in writing a book someday; I appreciate your kind words.

IT'S BAAAAACK!!!!

An odd cliffhanger there but I give Jack credit for having the guts to try this tatic with the great destroyer. Hopefully things go better for him than the others who have tempted fate in such a way.

Author's Response:

Back indeed. And guts are just about all they have to work with here. Thanks for reviewing!

Ooooh I can sense it...how many chapters until the grand finale?

Author's Response:

Thanks! There are about 5 or 6 chapters left of this story.

Holy Shit Molasses!

She's gonna go volcanic over that one.

Author's Response:

There's definitely a little bit of an eruption coming up, and not the good kind.

That a very nice ending, an intelligent twist, with an even more excruciating cliffhanger!

Author's Response:

Thanks for reading/reviewing!

This is an excellent example of your talent for portraying conversation with depth and nuance.  I really appreciate it when dialogue is leavened with body language and internal asides, and you always deliver.  The entire story hinges on this encounter, and reading it made my guts as icy as Jack's.

That said, I don't think Julia's the only one engaging in desparate wish-fulfillment here.

Author's Response:

Thanks, it means a lot. This conversation is definitely pivotal to the entire relationship of Jack and Julia. But you're right that Jack has his hopes up just as much as Julia.

Always awesome to see you updating again. Suspense is killing me

Author's Response:

Thanks! Hopefully the suspense builds a little higher before the end.

I really like your writing style. It’s
kind of a no-bullshit approach. You don't underestimate your reader and you
don't elaborate unnecessarily on the environment, but focus on emotion and
experience of the characters involved. You know that we as readers can fill in
the blanks.

Like I said, it’s a unique style and it’s
actually something I might try to emulate in future stories.

Author's Response:

Thanks! This story especially is meant to be in a stream-of-consciousness style, so less about the environment and more the semi-erratic thoughts of the main character. It can be a tougher style to follow but I think readers are up to it.

Awe man that was a killer cliffhanger. You could feel the intensity rise. I love this story so much, it's been going on for a while now.

Author's Response:

Thanks! It has been going for a while, so my goal has been to finish it well before it turns 4 years old.

Author's Response:

...which is hopefully not solved with a penalty shot.

Damn your cliffhangers!!!

That said GREEEEEEEEEEEAT to see this back.

Author's Response:

Thanks! Unfortunately there may be a couple more cliffhangers before this is through. ;)

Great chapter. So Jack is a distraction to let others to do execute the rest of plan which is still unclear lol. But the goal is bring their normal height back globally.

Author's Response:

You're partially right; Jack actually has a goal here besides keeping Julia in the room. Their plan will be shown in the next chapters.

I note the chapter is not titled "VJ-Day."  Wouldn't want to get our hopes up.  Jack, Julia, Judgment, Jubilee.

Julia's announced threat to Gina and the baby is too vicious by half.  She'd do it to Jack, though, after she forced him to say that he wanted her to do it to him.  If Jack's plan requires him to be sacrificed, I wouldn't mind reading such a scene, actually.

Author's Response:

Yes, "Victory over Julia" Day might be a little bit too positive a name when the group is facing such tough odds.  ;)

Jack is definitely willing to put himself on the line here, so he may very well have to make such a choice.
