A nice, cheerful interlude. I love it that Pete's got more than one female friend!

Author's Response:

Thanks!

Not to cramp (heh) anyone's style, but I think holding one's palm flat to support and not jostle a five-inch-tall person would start to hurt after ten minutes, let alone after an hour-long rehearsal.  I love handhelds, but I'd like the holder to enjoy it as much as I do.

Also, handhelds are awkward in any situation where people are expected to applaud.  Jack needs to find a happy pocket.

Author's Response:

It definitely would start to get sore after that much time. Luckilly he won't be in an audience member's hand during the applause.

Well, I could have taken advantage of the implied foot massages he'll be giving her. But, I figured that was stooping _too_ low for a Sherlockian pun.

Even for me! ;-)

Author's Response:

Luckily, the odds are you'll have an opportunity later on to make more relevant use of a foot pun.

"As I've told you before, Watson. Once you've eliminated the possible, whatever remains (however improbable) MUST BE THE TRUTH!"

Author's Response:

Thank god there wasn't foot or games content in this chapter or this allusion would've been stretched even further.

Ok, so, rounding up the usual suspects.
Erica not only has no motive, but also doesn't have the same gym period has Peter, so thus couldn't have access to gym clothes.
The Sharon Trio all have the gym period, but none of them have a wind instrument like the one Peter was trapped in earlier. Likewise Mandy.
The only ones who we know are in band are Lena, who also has a different gym period, and...
Lisa. Who also happens to have a wind instrument (clarinet) and has his gym class.

Author's Response:

Hehe. Good approach to try lining up possibilities by trait/accessibility. Can't comment on what's right or not, of course. ;)

Ok as everyone made a suspect list, here's mine:

1  Mandy because she's unstable.

2  Kim from evil trio because she is lacking of knowlodgement from her leader sharon.

3  Ms Watson because of her suggested foot massage demand. she agreed also very quicky to keep this incident between Peter and her. A unprofessional move.

Author's Response:

Fair considerations. I won't spoil, though.

Wachoo talkin' about, Spooky?

There IS a short list of unlikely suspects: mine! And, as demonstrated by the novels of Agatha Christie, the unlikeliest suspect is the guilty party, more often than not. And which two out of three characters are most unlikely of kidnapping Pete?

Erica and Lisa. ;-)

Wow, don't know who that was but wondering if they were aware that coud have killed Peter if he wasnt discovered.Must have been the same person who deposited him in the Tuba? Think that was the instrument? I don't think it was Mandy either, I think shed be much more likely to stuff him in her pocket and take him home.

You've crafted a very realistic tale here, Im usually detached from the tiny and fine if they meet their demise but I'd actually feel bad for this kid if that happened to him.

Of course, I still love the rough treatment, hope there is plenty more of that ;)

Author's Response:

Glad to hear you care about what happens to Peter. There will definitely be more rough play to come - Peter's barely a few weeks into school.

Whoa whoa whoa. It DEFINITELY is not Erica. That's just insane. She's not on a 'short list'. If it's Erica, then I read no further.

And I'm sorry but Lisa is also NOT a suspect. She was NEVER a suspect.

It baffles me how you guys can even SUGGEST those names. Shame on you!

It's clearly one of the Sharon trio, probably the quiet one with freckles. I mean what do we know about her anyway? You can't trust people with freckles! ;)

Great chapter. Keep 'em coming!

Author's Response:

Hehe. Again, I can't spoil anything, but I like at least some of your thinking as well. ;)

@ Olo: I was going to _add_ her to my short list of unlikely suspects during my upcoming analysis of Cal's possible guilt. But, you beat me it to it. So, in the immortal words of Homer Simpson?

"D'OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Author's Response:

Y'all are looking for the macro illuminati.

I dunno, Cary.  I like that Ms. Watson wants a dependent, pliant Peter to fondle, but I don't know if she's clever enough to have predicted Peter's insistence that she not report the incident.  I think she's just an instinctive opportunist, like most sexual predators.

The most likely candidate for tossing Peter in the hamper is someone who doesn't personally want some one-on-one time with him but just thinks it would be a funny prank, which means someone who (probably independently) thought it would be a good way to score points with Sharon.

It all comes back to Cui bono?  What most of Peter's tormentors seem to fail to realize is that he's constantly on the verge of being withdrawn from school by his mother, and that would end their fun.  That's why Sharon probably didn't authorize this latest assault (which could well have ended with Peter being drowned in the laundry); she's got Bigger Plans for him.

So who wants Peter to give up and leave the school?  Who benefits thereby?

That's right; my tinfoil-hat theory points at the person whose life is most burdened by having to shepherd Peter around all day:  Erica.

Or it could be the as-yet-unnamed Risk Management Director for the school district, terrified by liability concerns.

Author's Response:

Without wanting to confirm or deny anything you're guessing, I will at least say you're correct to take into consideration the fact that Peter's detractors would have to consider losing the opportunity of toying with him if he was pulled from school. Though there's a related something to factor in that you may have missed. ;)

Cool, the hamper scene was well done. Now he gets special attention from Ms. Watson. I wonder how life is inside her pocket?
Nice,
Diesel

Author's Response:

We'll just have to wait and see.

So! The Phantom Pete-napper strikes again. And, this time, it's not Lisa who found him...which eliminates her as a suspect in the first abduction.

"WTF?" I hear you asking yourself.

Well, let's face it. That first abduction could merely have been an overzealous way of teaching him not to take the kind-heartedness of normal-sized students for granted. That some of them (like Sharon and Mandy) were only giving him lip-service amiability.

So, the question now becomes: who is Pete-napper # 2? And, once again, the most likely suspects are Sharon, one of her two stooges, or Mandy. Re: unlikely suspects? Ms. Watson would top that short-list. As pretending to save Pete in the nick of time would be a perfect way of getting to feel gratefully obligated to her.

"A tad Machiavellian for a gym teacher, don't you think?" I now hear you asking.

Gym teachers merely being has-been ex-jocks, trying to recapture their high school glory days, is as erroneous a stereotype as the selfish, narcissistic, nymphomaniacal cheerleader. But, pretending to be the former would be diabolically brilliant on Ms. Watson's part, I reluctantly have to admit.

Which brings us to the unlikeliest suspect of all: new BGF Calvin. But, I'll elaborate on my reason(s) for suspecting him in my review for chapter 48. Right now, I have to get another booster shot against recurring TomSpeedyitis.

;-D

Author's Response:

Oh conspiracy, conspiracy, conspiracy...

Great chapter, the only thing I found odd was how he knew his attacker was female. Intuition, maybe? Since most of the people he's most afraid of seem to be girls. Or did I miss a sentence that explained how he came to that conclusion? Anyway, despite this oddity it was a decent read, I was wondering when Peter's good luck streak was gonna run out!

Author's Response:

Probably part intuition, probably also assuming that it would've been suspicious for a boy to go into the girl's locker room. Thanks for reading!

Ok, first of all, what Stella did was ridiculous. I mean she 'stamped him hard enough to rattle the living room furniture'?? What?? a) How could that NOT kill him...it RATTLED furniture. b) How does a girl decide to become a murderer at the age of 13??

Clearly, this allows us to put checkboxes in the standard giantess foot-related tropes, but it strikes me as unrealistic.

That being said, I'm a gentle giantess fan and the relationship between Lisa and Peter has me hooked. :) I find myself looking forward to the next chapter as I read further. Plus, I really like Peter's sisters. Each has a different way of showing love for him.

In spite of the existance of impossibly-evil girls in this story (seriously, do people like Mandy and Stella exist in real life), I have to say it's becoming one of my favorites on this site. I just wish the conflict were a bit more subtle in some areas.

Overall, incredible story so far. Please keep writing! I look forward to the next chapters.

Author's Response:

Well, the thing to realize about Stella is that she wasn't making an attempt to gravely hurt him. Depending on how her foot landed on the floor, she could've rattled the furniture and still kept Peter from the major impact - like if she led with her heel, for example.

Glad you're liking the story.

Such as cute chapter! It's like their the gals are gushing over a little hamster or something. Dehuminizing maybe, but I don't think any guy wouldn't enjoy being in that situation so long as the girls aren't getting grabby or violent.

Author's Response:

Yep; they probably don't really think about the implications of their behavior on Peter because they've become so comfortable being around him, but there definitely are subtler effects.

She could use it just as much as Peter, really.

Something tells me that, by the time they're through with poor Jessie, Pete's other relatives are going to make the Fockers look like the Waltons by comparison.

Author's Response:

Luckily for Peter, Lisa's only going to meet the 3 members of his extended family, not an entire cast of loonies.
