Well, at least they've made up for the earlier misunderstanding.

A very thought-provoking story, so far. It strongly minds me of the now-classic (and regrettably still-incomplete) THAT SINKING FEELING. And, while I normally read-and-review, chapter by chapter, this story was so engrossing, I read the first ten chapters straight through. Each one showing very plausible reactions on the part of the characters concerned. Chapter 9, in particular, shows just how much for granted parents take being "owed" respect by their children. Not realizing that what they really mean by "respect" is actually courtesy. And, the two are not now, nor ever have been, one and the same thing. They also don't realize that their ability to get either, from their children, is purely a result of superior height coupled with the power to exploit same for the purpose of asserting their authority.

In short; children might have to show their parents or authority figures courtesy. But, the latter have to _earn_ respect just like everybody else.

And, with that long-winded (and perhaps overly serious) critique out of the way, I'm off to the next chapter.
