He sighs with relief, but what if Natilie doesn't find him in the cabinet. I think the mom needs some time with him. You could use similar dialogue that you use for Alex. Alex sounds like a MILF. I thought only moms say darling. I guess not.

Maybe Katie's parents take him. Lots of possibilities here. I can't wait for the next chapter.

Well, if this were Writing.com, the next installment would go one of three ways. Unwitting abduction by an older woman working at the pet store; miraculous opportunity for escape presents itself and is successfully seized; or, he is captured in the middle of the escape, by an adult woman customer, and bought.*

*The latter transaction would probably be handled by the adult cashier while Natalie was on break. Ergo, she wouldn't know about the sale until it was too late.
