I thought it was more of an allusion to the egg-eating "controversy" in the Lilliputian segment of Ray Harryhausen's THE THREE WORLDS OF GULLIVER (starring Kerwin Matthews). But, the only American "controversy" I can think of, off the top of my head, is the one about whether or not to put phosphates back into dishwater detergents.*

*In order to restore spot-removing capability, re: drinking glasses actually made of glass.

Author's Response: Sherry Alberoni made such a cute young giantess Glumbdalclitch in that movie (easily my favourite screen version of Gulliver's travels) some 10 years before her Alexandra Cabot voice in "Josie and the Pussycats" or her 1973 Wendy voice on Super Friends.

But did you pick that King Shrubbz attempt to conquer for cooking oil was satirizing something in your country's modern history? Think what Shrubbz sounds like, and think what he was after.
