Hmmm! I'm now wondering if 007's abductor is Jennifer Burton, instead. Because even "Love 'em-and-Leave'em" Bond certainly would've recognized Gwendolyn from what Messrs. Solo and Kuryakin would've called "The Octopussy Affair!"
As for Jaws being rescued by an unregistered nuclear sub? I can believe it. Wealthy as they were, individually, Drax and Stromberg couldn't have financed their eco-terrorist schemes on their own. Nor even in partnership with each other! They had to be colluding with someone just as ruthless and misanthropic. English translation: Blofeld!
I know, I know. He was dropped off in that industrial smokestack in the action-packed prologue of "For Your Eyes Only." But, what if everyone was meant to assume just that? What if that was just another surgically-created double? Albeit, one simply brainwashed into _believing_ he truly was Blofeld!
I guess what I'm trying to say is: you've succeeded in making me second-guess my earlier predictions. You fiend, you! ;-)

Well, it could still be Gwendolyn from Circus Octopussy. Remember; Octopussy, herself, told 007 how her (mostly female) crime syndicate had diversified into hotels as well as circuses. So, who's to say that Octopussy didn't buy the Whyte House from Willard Whyte's estate after he died?*
*I leave it up to you, as the author, whether or not to incorporate the real-world death date of Jimmy Dean (singer/actor/breakfast sausage mogul).

You bring up a really good scenario, and it’s one I never considered. I was always operating under the assumption that Willard Whyte divested from his businesses because of SPECTRE’s infiltration of the casino, oil, and satellite program. Plus add in the fact that he was kidnapped and then the targeted for death maybe made him realize that a quiet life on some tropical island was better for his health. I never considered that he passed, and the government bought it during an Estate Sale. That was a shame on me. 😧

Irina is an original character. I only knew the four from the classic era. General Gogol was too nice a character, Major Amasova was probably more career oriented, Colonel Klebb was implied to be a lesbian, and General Orlov, who always struck me as the type to have mistresses all over the Eastern Bloc. And I apologize for not picking up on the difference between the male and female version of the last name. An oversight on my part.

Really enjoying this - I like the scene building as the plan becomes more and more clear. I think I can see (and like) where this is going but hoping for the emergence of a super villainess (Irma?) ala World Is Not Enough who claims responsibility and ultimately benefits more than all others.
