Thank you for the observation. I was trying to capture Susan's motivation. She had just come into the office at the end of the previous chapter, and there was that secretary giving Tom a really hard time. And she realized that because she couldn't be in the office all the time, she couldn't protect him from the ladies. So she sent him to help her friend, and giving him a new lease on his professional career, while making sure he is safe from harassment and intimidation.
