This story has very quickly become one of my favorites. The concpet of a tall, strong woman who is fiercly protective of tiny people and fiercly violent to those that harm them appeals to my sense of jusitce. The fact that she shrinks those same tormenters and enjoys playing with them means we get cruel stuff in addittion to gentle stuff.
Even better is the magic and abilties given to them by their secret garden and technology. I've always been fond of the "magical girlfriend" or "superpowered girlfriend" trope so having a kind, strong, superpowered, giant girlfriend/protector who secretly does brutal vigilante justice hits all the right buttons for me.
Another thing I like about this story is the casual worldbuilding and bits of lore we get. It really gets me sucked in to the story and eager to see what we learn next. And with these revelations about Amrita corp and this family, here's hoping Maddie and Jisoo become friends and maybe add her company to theirs.

I love magical/superpowered girlfriends interactions with a normal boyfriend, and also want to add in elements of that into a giant girl story too which I am happy you enjoy as well. Hmm, I actually want to speculate and play the devil's advocate that there might be enough grey area stuff on Jisoo's mom revealed so far that maybe Jisoo has her pinged all wrong and what she went through as a baby was done to protect her. We learned that China and Singapore have full rights for shrinkies and Korea seems to have something similar or at least far above the American system, which I suspect is somewhat related to being power bases of the Chen Family/Amarita Company. I'm still suspicous that the family Matriarch Baochia Fang is still alive and kicking and her guilt over possibly having a hand in the Dimunition virus over 100 years ago is driving the Amarita Company to flex some of their political pawn power to give the surviving generations of specks some human dignity back.
Anyway what if Jisoo's mom shrunk Jisoo with the serum shortly after having her and leaving her with her trusted friend or actual father of the child, Byung-ho, in Korea where specks had some decent rights because she feared some kind of power struggle between her and her siblings, cousins, and nieces/nephews was coming up? Byong-ho literally chose to keep Jisoo instead of flushing the speck down the toilet like his wife demanded under threat of leaving him and it ruined his life and reputation in the process so he had to have known about Jisoo's shrinking and a desperate plea to protect an infant from her mother would likely carry more wight under so much pressure then a vague threat. Until we get some of the missing crucial details I'm willing to doubt. Shrinking her daughter and abandoning her just seems to be way too random and likely to fail to be part of an organized scheme or plot. It carries the taste of being a sudden desparate move to hide her daughter from someone.
Such as 1. Who was it that approached little speck Jisoo to tell her who she really was? 2. Why does her adoptive father and sister hate her and see her as a monster? 2.5. Are they still alive? 3. Did she see her mother commit atrocious acts or get coerced into participating, or is it all relayed stories from Grace and her othe family members?
The quickest way to prove her mother is an evil bitch is to make her the one who shows up one day to tell the truth to little speck Jisoo and offer the chance to rejoin normals, at a price. the price being to prove herself, her loyalty to a mother she's onyl just met. The best way? Kill another speck. Maybe kill a random one before being given an immortality peach or special syringe. Or be restored and held at gunpoint under threat of being shrunken again and personally crushed by her mother if she doesn't crush a speck. Maybe to really hammer it in her mother shrinks Byung-ho and Tae and orders her to kill one or both of them.
I'm debating this extreme reunion being possible since Jisoo kind of gives statements about Tae in the past tense that give me a red flag about ehr already being dead. She talks about how much she respects and admires Tae, but in the past tense and if you respect someone so much you take their name when immigrating to America why would you act like respecting them is something "in the past".
Finally what if Jisoo never actually met her mother? What if Aunt Min or a famly member tracked her down somehow after her mother died at their hands and were either altruistic enough to restore her and take her under their wing or ordered by an elder like Baochia Fang to do so? Maybe it's because I've got some misgivings about the family since I still think Fang was around in the past to have a hand in the Dimunition virus and Grace show how casually the family corrupts governments and whimsically murders anyone and everyone whose a mild hinderance, but I think the family's got some much shadier and malignant things going on. They weaponized the shrink virus into a newly active serum dammit! What if she was given the family account of how the black sheep daughter tried to ruin or setback poor Great Grandma's super humane world takeover scheme?
Somebody conditioned security executive Jisoo to be an assest for the company, particulary her sexual pleasure she gets when torturing a shrinky. Given that Grace also enjoys tormenting shrinkies, I'm not ruling out tht Jisoo got some conditioning to see the bad in her mother and ignore it in her other famiyl member. Until we get more storytime alongside Eren or some more past reflection inner monologues straight from Jisoo about things her mother did and why her adoptive sister called her a monster and doesn't speak to or see her anymore, I'm willing to suspend ruling in that her mother is the monster that made her.
P.S. I'm having a bit of confusion understanding whose who in the family tree given it seems to be very multinational and with some possibly perpetually young=ish members because there's one line that describes Jisoo's mom as "the daughter of the woman who changed the world" and another as "witch that tried to destroy everything my grandmother and Grace's great grandmother did to fix it". Is Baochia Fang Jisoo's grandma and Grace's great-grandma or were you describing two different women. Because of the immortality peaches I can see some age shenanigans going on like Jisoo's mom being able to wait an extra 20-30 years to have her daughter since Grace is supposedly the 4th generation to Jisoo's 3rd but they are around the same age.

Very interesting hypotheses! You'll have to see but you are on the right track. So without delving into too much spoiler territory, to clarify the Chen/Fang family tree I was describing two different women. One of whom, Baochai Fang is Grace's great-grandmother. The other woman in question is her sister; Jisoo's maternal grandmother. Min Chen is one of Baochai's several grandchildren.
The family tree I think right now is especially confusing because neither Jisoo nor Grace have stated many family members names aside from Min, and the actual age of many characters has also not been revealed either but that information will all be provided later to make it more clear.

A decent chapter and continuation of the story. I like the world building and subtle additions that leave the reader wanting to know more. The chapter title of "Ravenous" is an odd choice. There's no vore elements as one might expect, and aside from the brief mention of Eren's old speck life and their lack of rations nothing in the chapter fits with it. I still look forward to reading more though.

Hey thank you for the feedback! I chose 'Ravenous' in reference to the feast that Eren, Tae and Grace have for Christmas dinner, and also because of the way Xiangling looks at Claire. Every chapter of the story has to begin with the letter R (there is no reason for this other than by coincidence the first few chapters did this and I just went with it lol) and since this was a Christmas dinner focused chapter I went with that.

This is getting really interesting. The magic peach, Grace's family's hidden influence over American politicians, the fact that her family possibly knows the truth of what shrank everybody.
It also appeals to me that they are caring and protective of specks but also very much enjoy toying with people who are speck sized, either because they deserve it or are tying up loose ends. I like stories like this. I came for the fetish and stayed for the plot.

Hmm, a family that posesses magic or just a family of brilliant chemists/biologists who can create anti-aging fruit and weaponize a century old shrinking virus? I'm wondering if Tae was born into the family or was adopted as a speck when they tested her and found something special in her dna. Grace seemed to imply her family knows something about how the Diminution virus began, maybe they owned the lab that developed it or just did a loot of research and had special specks like Tae.
Also Tae's claim that her familiy can't help or directly handle speck communities because American companies own them and block foreign interferance seems disingenuous now. If their family can buy attorney generals, governors, members of congress, and soon the president of the US, buying out or ruining small competitors seems like no issue. Grace's concern for Eren hints that her family may have no personal issue sheltering and helping the born specks, especially if there's useful one like Eren who can improve the efficiency of machines, since they don't acknowledge all the worthless propoganda about them. Wonder if the specks have or will have better treatment in countries the family already controls like China?
If it's Tae that's about to solo brawl with Thomas, hopefully he's injured enough to not be able to best her. She's strong and skilled but so is he. Tae might get her serum used on her if bested, remains to be seen if that happens if she has some kind of peach or blood power to reverse it when the time is right.
It's kind of funny how everyone's reaction to being told why they were shrunk is too say "but he was just a speck". Are you sure you want to make the arument that speck abuse is okay when you yourself are currently speck size?

Perhaps a curious mixture of both science and magic? :) So far Sylvia probably had the best plan to get herself out of the woods, she tried to claim she was drunk and it was a mistake. Everybody else apparently did not think about how their response would be taken. As for everything else, in time the history of the world as well as it's future will all be explored later, I hope you stick around to see how it unfolds!

Xiangling! Is that a Genshin reference I see? If so, that's great. I started playing about a month and a half ago, and it's really fun. If you play it, who's your main? Mine's Kazuha.
Anyway, this story is still fantastic! It seems like the hole of revenge and destruction is just getting deeper and deeper, and I'm looking forward to seeing where it ultimately ends up, as well as how it affects poor Eren. As another reviewer said, he's truly the only innocent one here. Still loving his adorable relationship with Tae, but I can't help but worry about what will happen when he finds out about everything. For me, their relationship is the main draw of the story, so I hope to see more of it soon! Either way, keep up the great work, and take care.

It hasn't been that long but I'm already starting to dislike Claire as a person. Reffering to Eren as "it" was all I needed. When it comes to Thomas I could sort of see where he's coming from since he's clueless about what his sister did to get beat up, but I doubt he'd care about it If he knew. He doesn't strike me as someone who cares about speck rights, so I am still hoping that he fails in his revenge quest and gets what's coming to him. I just want Tae and Eren to be happy. The suspense about what's going to happen next is killing me, but I'm hoping that Thomas and Claire are on the losing end.

Claire's probably realizing that not only is she working off the record, but she's inadvertenly kicked a hornets nest owned by an influential billionaire (trillionaire?), and making Thomas if not herself as well "disappearing" a real possibility. I think part of what will seal Thomas's fate is his reaction to Tae letting Eren give his testimony of what Alice and her friend were doing to him to that night and how Tae saved his life and if his response is "so what you're just a speck"? Claire's already earned a red card for calling him an it and could very well be killed in front of Thomas depending on how thorough Grace wants to clean out the problem characters. I wonder if/when Tae reveals she shrank and killed Alice to Thomas, it would be the last chance for a "she's still alive and I'm drawing her death out" twist. Also how much of her underworld she exposes Eren to. Will she have him tell Thomas what he went through while still shielding him from the truth of what she did afterwards and what her sister is going to do to Thomas and Claire?
My plot crafting has me suspecting Grace will be the one dealing with him instead of Tae. I think she's going to threaten the cop into forgeting everything and that she was never with Thomas. Then she may tell Tae she's going to deal with him since he did come a split second within slugging her in the head. I suspect that the female bodyguard who curbstomped him will be tasked with shrinking and/or killing him but Thomas may pull off killing the bodyguard and her accomplices instead and having an escapade to get to Tae and Eren again for revenge-bugaloo after learning Alice is dead.

So Tae was born a speck, called it: http://gph.is/2lBjtGE . We finally confirm that correlation about Eren noticing how tall and athletic she is for a human and the comments about how fit Eren is since only fit specks have a chance of surviving in the dangerous world. It's interesting if Tae-yeon is Tae's biological sister instead of a friend like-a-sister. Since Grace called her Ji-soo earlier, is that a general title for a family member or Tae's real name and she just strangely goes by her friend Yeon's name? It hasn't been stated yet if regular humans occasionally concieve speck babies. It would lower the bar again on the morality of the society if parents are abandoning speck infants and dumping them upon the impoverished speck communities if not requesting their doctors to kill them outright. Since Tae has a unique biological trait, the Xirang, she could either be the biological sister of Tae-yeon or she was simply a friend kind enough to care for Tae until she one day grew.
This kind of hints that Tae may be involved in the Amrita corps ability to produce weaponized shrink serum since apparently the general public has long been immune to the original outbreak a century ago. The company may have been researching the virus in speck test subjects and Tae happened to be the one in a million who had unique genetic code allowing the virus to be extracted and edited. If specks can come from normal people she may have been hidden in disdain as a mistake of the extended Amrita branch families before being used in the latest experiments and accepted back into the family as a normal human. For such a valuable assest I wonder how closely they monitor and protect her since she seemly has a great amount of independence and gooes around kidnapping and killing people of her own accord.
I'm realy curious what Tae did to make Yeon hate her and call her a monster, considering she loved and cared for Tae when she was a speck. I've got my suspicions about preying and tormenting her fellow specks when she got big, believing it was just the natural order of things. In spite of Yeon's affections she may have just gleefully decided it was her turn to feel in control over others. Or if she was given syringes of the weaponized shrink serum after being either adopted or recognized as a member of the Chen's extended family once she became normal sized. She does have the wicked streak of enjoying torturing and killing people, perhaps it's always been regular humans she suffered at the hands of or witnessed killing her fellow specks. She may have been caught in the act by Yeon or showed her one of her victims and gleefully invited her to join her, only for Yeon to be horrified and outraged. In the darkest timeline, what if she used a syringe on Yeon in a fit of rage and killed her?
P.S. That's some hella inflation when $43.55/hr is just slightly above minimum wage and insultingly low for a college graduate, from MIT no less if it's still equivalent to present day MIT. Fingers crossed this future society actually mandates that minimum wage to actually match what the living wage is. I wonder if Madeliene thinks he's just that desperate for work or if the gears start turning when she notices other awkward moments with Eren in the coming weeks.

I won't say too much and risk giving anything away, but I can clarify that 'Ji-soo' is Tae's real name, however you wish to interpret that. As for who this 'Tae-yeon' person is, you will have to wait and see :).
Honestly calculating the inflation ended up becoming an educated guess for how 2107 would look, assuming a few world changing events that have not yet been discussed by any of the characters impacted the economy. Buuut I can assure you many of those events and changes in the economy will be hinted at in future chapters!

I'm nearly all caught up with this story, and it has quickly become one of my favorite stories on this site. The politics and world building are simply fantastic. The world is very believable for a story with tiny people. The cast, although small, has enamoured me. I really love the lead characters and their relationship (and people say you can't write a strong female protagonist and make them likeable). I'm really enjoy seeing their interactions with each other because they are incredibly wholesome, however, their individual segments are just as amazing because they really let you catch a glimpse of this semi dystopian future. This story gives me some Dexter vibes as well as some slight Batman vibes. I've fallen head over heels for this story so congrats on the incredible writing! I'll be looking forward to the most recently released chapter as well as future chapters. Godspeed!

It is interesting how the general population thinks specks get billions in aid, when in reality they live in slums and are given scraps. Oddly enough I could see the small group of speck rights activists and the much larger specks are pests groups both coming together to cause a huge outrage if someone funded several news channels and documentary film makers to investigate and expose the living conditions of specks and how a handful of companies are pocketing the billions in funding. "Where are your tax dollars going? Tonight our investigative reporter Tom Johnson reports to us from the field from NYC's sub-borough 1, one of NYC's 5 diminshed human communities. The Werner Company holds a $40M annual contract from the city to exclusively manage and develop the cities 5 DH sub-boroughs. But what does the company do with this fnding? What we found may shock you." New channels covering multiple speck slums in cities across the country over a few weeks followed up by some famous filmmaker making a Netflix series about how the contract companies and the politicians they bribe are pocketing all the money could easily cause a public fervor from both speck supporter and hate groups for opposite reasons.
They could be setting themselves up against the world's largest conglomerate. Grace could use Eren becoming an innovative engineer at his new job as a model example to the Amrita board about specks being an untapped workforce. If she convinces the board about their use and how the conglomerate could monopolize the communities since no one else is currently using specks as a reliable workforce, the company can use the opportunity to swoop in and place the majority of the speck population under their protective wing with the promise of safer communities and living conditions. They just need to flex a bit of that wealth an influence to clear the corrupt competitors out of the way. Opportunity for a potential epilogue or a timeskip.

I can read that news report in the voice of an anchorman! That Netflix series would be a hit with all sides too.
Odds are there will be a timeskip at some point in the plot; this is definitely meant to be a long story with numerous arcs and plotlines. Of course that may change, but right now in terms of what i envision we are not at the half-way point, so there is absolutely time to develop more big events. I hope I can keep everybody interested for the long haul!
