It wasn't, but I can see how you drew the comparison. 

This is actually a short piece from a much larger story I haven't yet written. 

I try to think about these scenarios and how these tiny people get kept as slaves for so long and like, what motivator do they have to keep suffering without killing themselves? Especially after hope of escape and rescue have diminished? 

The idea that if you kill yourself, your captor might seek out the rest of your family is kind of a devious result that I came upon.
