I don't understand why you tagged this as gentle. Honestly, with a title like forgiveness, I expected something very different, so maybe a bit of the blame lies with me. But I still don't think the tag fits, at all.
Is it the last interaction? The one that lasts a few paragraphs out of the entire story? Which ends with the main character dead?

A good start to a story. I don't usually read the violent/gorie stories, but this one has me interested. I think it's the escapee's situation and the grittiness of it. I look forward to seeing what you do in five chapters.
