 Great piece of exposition, were you inspired by Omega? I am not a fan of the series but Jazeera's past is interesting and reveals the many flaws of the world and even makes Eva rather unique, the first child born to a G class individual. 

 

Author's Response: Hmm, I did take some inspiration, mostly the mixed size world scenario. I picked up Jacksmith's Omega story first and then read Ackbar's work. I found myself wishing that their stories spent more time addressing the way the world's system was so flawed and I guess that is really what inspired this piece. While I was writing this chapter, I found myself wanting to write a side story for Jazeera and Ambrose, but I am hesitant about derailing myself, lol

I was hoping to have chapter 6 out days ago, but I was in the ER for a day and then we lost power in my area due to snow, so my plans were shot to hell. But, I hope to have it up in short order!

Jazeera and Eva have issues, Hadley and James have their own problems, engaging enough to keep me interested, can't wait to see all these subplots resolved. Also, will Hadley's tormentors be back? Or is Jazeera so scary they've vowed never to try and mess with the little one again?

Mmm, people are not perfect, I guess. I am glad it is keeping you interested!

Oh, tormentors never disappear. They just plot and stew before making a devistating reentry into their victim's life. Hadley has not seen the last of hers :(

Interesting story but as non-english reader I need to clarify to understand it fully.

if i read well, Hadley is living in a 2 story apartment building made for H class people but it's ajusted to receive K and F class people as well. the landlord (scott's) live in higher apartment and the others in the lower one.

But i didn't understand if rails made K & F class are everywhere (residential area and inside apartment. Can you help me?, Please

Not a problem :) It is a bit hard to explain in the narrative, so I totally understand.

All of the buildings in the mixed residential district were originally built for S class residents (prior to people shrinking). So the apartment is an S class building redesigned to house the Scott's upstairs and a community of about 100 K and F class families downstairs. Eva and Jaz can fit in the building because it is still built to their proportions (doors, hallways, and such).

The mixed residential district is a short walk from the central market for an S class person. The streets are no longer safe for cars, so they were repurposed, train tracks being laid down. The train cars are designed for H class passengers, but an S class person could fit. On the side of each train car are smaller cars, situated closer to the ground. These are built for K and F class use. When the train stops, the smaller cars are positioned in front of each community house. There, smaller rails are designed to help deal with the fact that K and F class residents could not climb the front steps or open the doors. The rail leads straight into the kitchen of the downstairs apartment, going only that short distance. These smaller rails are not available everywhere, just for community houses. The larger rails connect most of the residential districts.

Good chapter, but can you explain the class system? Which classes match which income level and which heights?

I can give you a quick rundown, but I do promise to give a lengthy breakdown in a coming chapter.

S class - Fall between 5 and 6 feet - The 1% (upper class)

H class - Fall between 2.25 and 2.75 feet - Upper middle class

K class - Fall between 1 and 1.25 feet - Middle class

~ The poverty line ~

F class - Fall between 3 and 4 inches - Lower class

Such a good story !! I so love what you're writting, and I hope you'll keep us enjoying this ! The evil part of the story is important for me, because it's thanks to this that we have such great feelings towards the characters. I'm fond of gentle stories when there are mean moments, and meanwhile the hero has someone who looks for him/her (I don't know if I'm understandable because I'm French, it's hard to express my thoughts :S).  

Anyway, please continue what you're doing, I'm gonna watch for the afterpart !!

I've actually been reading this story since the release of the first chapter. It's really good. I'm interested in seeing more of the adventures of Eva and Hadley. They seem like nice characters to follow.

I'm liking what I'm reading so far!  Usually I'm uncomfortable with the class/size discrimination rampant in these type of stories, thus hampering my enjoyment of them.  Please keep the overall gentleness of the story, only descending into the nastier stuff to advance the story.

Author's Response: I a glad you are enjoying it so far! I plan for this story to deal with violence, but more through the character's shared dislike for it. At this point, I am thinking that this story will be very prominently gentle :)

Great second chapter. Lots of tension/drama. Would be nice to see a bit more of the school/world over time, & meet more genders/classes in the future.
