I think he is hoping that he can make Alex snap and have accidentally kill Jaden in one of her breakdowns. Then when she realises what she's done, he'll offer to step in and cover it up but she must do whatever he says or he'll let her face the music with no protection.
Once Alex agrees, he will have total control over her for the remainder of her life. Unless Ava and Jaden can come up with something to outsmart him. Maybe fake Jaden's death and lull Ryan into a false sense of security. Force a shrinking pill on him, shrink him down and then have Alex do whatever she wants to him before she squashes him like the bug he is.
