Looks like the Society uses mind control to keep some of their people in line. Too bad Sanders couldn't get his hands on a Shrink Gun, and further that Lutice had to turn hers in. That means no more "safe" sex if Sanders had stayed. I think the Resistance should now focus on disabling those mind control devices. If they can get a few giant women on their side, they might have a chance. Good chapter!
Author's Response:
That would be helpful. Lets hope its that and not just that Lutice was nutty all along.

Grrrr! I thought we were headed for an interesting moment between Sanders and Lutice's boobs. This being a prank, I suppose it could still happen. Looking forward to the REAL next chapter.

Take all the time you need. You can't go deep enough into this world and its characters.
@Carycomic: Analyze all you want. It's interesting to read.
Author's Response:
Don't tempt me. We will never get to Act 3 if I went as deep as I could go. Be deeper than Sanders will be in Lutic- I MEAN.

So hard to get a good read on Lutice which makes her such a facinating character. Next chapter should be a doozy.
Author's Response:
I will admit, Lutice is one of my more favorite characters. Still not my favorite though, and who it is will remain a mystery for now.

Lutice, not turning in Sanders? A military organization not under the direct control of the Society? Startling developments, indeed! With regard to Lutice, I'd say it was due to her earlier attempt to take him as her love-slave. She now gets to fulfill that intention, and there's nothing he can do about it! Because the only alternative (for now, anyway) is to be turned over to the Society as a traitor and potential flight risk. As to the NAMF? If their founders/leaders discover the truth about the Great Shrinkage (or whatever title the Society uses, in public, for the event that helped bring them to power), their autonomy will provide the Resistance with a valuable (and, frankly, much-needed) ally.
Sorry; I tend to get over-analytical with riveting stories like this one.

Lutice is definitely coo coo for cocoa puffs when it comes to Sanders. I still think she’s more mentally unstable than evil or just a yandere.
Author's Response:
For Sanders sake, lets hope you are right. And not getting yandere mixed up with tsundere....
Anyone else getting the mental image of Pyrrha and Lutice fighting over Sanders now?

Interesting development...
And as for the new characters, I like them. It's good to see resistance members not painted as the bad guys, even if some of the members used to be criminals.

Good chapter. I like seeing just how Sanders escaped. Now, though, I'm curious about who that woman is, how she got that way, and what becomes of her after this.
Author's Response:
We will learn more about Lena and how she wound up where she is, though its going to be awhile before we get back to her.

Im sorry papa dont whip me!!
Author's Response:
Well alright. I guess I can forgive you.

After all this time the weight and impact of your chapter 1 ending still hangs over this story. I guess it still bothers me that Isabella was killed and Sanders was betrayed by Aviel, whom was empowered with gigantic size for her betrayal. That any future encounter will be with them on opposite sides. Even though they were pretty well matched when they served on the same squad, Aviel demonstrated pretty well on Sanders the power she now had and how very little chance he had of of striking back at her.
These are things that were probably going through Sanders' mind as he struggled in your latest chapter. But it looks like you've thrown him a bone, a chance to begin to help turn the tables on the Society. And who knows, maybe even have Sanders and Aviel reconcile their friendship at distant point in the story. Keep up the good work!

This is the chapter ive been waiting for since act 2, took you long enough.
Author's Response:
Don't you get uppity with me, boy. You will get what you want when I DANE to give it to you. Be grateful you get anything at all.

Ah! A long-lost Resistance member who puts the ESP in "espionage." No wonder the Society has her on ice!
Brilliant. :-)

Liking the new characters now, not sure I would have been had Sanders not returned though. The developments this chapters have me intrigued. Also with the reveal of how Sanders escaped, I'm still not sure what to think of Aviel.
Initially I thought it was all a plan to save his life, no longer sure of that, but not 100% sure about her betrayal either. Guess we'll see down the road.
Now the question is will Darius believe any of this?

Disheartening chapter with a nice surprise at the end, I can’t help but feel the phoenixes are underestimating the society.
Nice to see Sander’s again, but I wonder if he’ll be the same Sander’s we all know since he’s supposedly been living on his own for a year. I wonder if that collarless cat girl was the same one to escaped at the end of act one.
Date: March 14 2014 5:58 PM Title: Chapter 2: In Vain
It's pretty clear that the Resistance (at least this group) isn't a bunch of heroes themselves, though they're still not as bad as the Society. The Phoenixes are coldly pragmatic whereas the Society is properly evil. Also, it's good to see Sanders back. It would be good to see how he got here.

Ah! A new recruit...and not just any recruit, either. Excellent tie-in!!
