Oh Liana, you're like a bigger, meaner Ramona, and that only makes me more curious as to the warpath Ramona could very well go on in the wake of Greg's assault.
It was nice to check back in with Liana and Jack, and I think I like that their sections are a bit spaced out from one another. Gives a nice little sense of time passing.
As for who I'd like to check up on? Lord, that is...a tough question. I'd like to see what everyone is up to, honestly, though I have to admit a bias toward Tyler/Rain and Greg/Ramona.
Author's Response:
You know you have an uncanny habit of somehow guessing what I've have planned for following chapters....am I that predictable?...I'm not saying anymore then that...You've probably already solved the mystery of Steven Rotmer..smarty pants.

Oh, and if I had to choose who to see again, I'd choose Liana/Jack. They're prolly my favorite pair, mainly because of Liana...I'm usually not a fan of violent/mean gts, but the playful way she handles herself (an air of almost regality) is really sexy, in my opinion.
And I love the over-possessiveness she has of Jack! And her size is my favorite too. Definitely my favs by far, but next to that would be Ramona/Greg just cuz Ramona seems to have a similar overpossesiveness of Greg...Albeit she seems to be less mean and more cuddly/affectionate about it.
Author's Response:
I'm glad people have caught on to the similarities of Liana and Ramona although now I worry I've made it too obvious.

Liana is one intimidating woman. And she goes from playfully mean, to loving, to murderous in the blink of an eye! I wonder how she would have felt it Jack had gotten hurt or killed due to her antics, intead of some third party?
Like if he would have missed the jump to the potted plant and landed with a splat down below, all because she wouldn't help him use the restroom? She seems to care for him, but I don't think she's the type of person to place blame on herself.
Author's Response:
Yeah she'd probably be more pissed that he hurt himself because he couldn't hold it and didn't have the guts to upset her by wetting the bed. At the same time I'm pretty sure he was in no real danger there was probably a pillow down there or something. I don't know I only write the story.

I feel bad for Greg but yeah taking a grand in cash out of the bank at night is stupid in the real world much less a world where just about everyone has super powers. He’s lucky he’s not dead. Though I wonder how Ramona’s going to react to her boyfriend being assaulted, especially if she finds out he got assaulted trying to buy her something.
Author's Response:
Poorly. She will react very VERY poorly......be afraid.

Neat chapter, good on you for exploring new types of scenes in this world. It was interesting to see that just because someone elevates doesn't mean that their life doesn't still suck.
I'll be curious to see how this affects Greg's life. Whether the trauma causes him to become further dependent on Ramona, or if it (along with his small success in the fight) inspires his growing independence.
Also a neat look into the way business is done in the New World.
Author's Response:
You bring up an interesting point with Greg's reaction to this. It's kind of a coin flip right now.
Date: April 24 2014 6:49 AM Title: Chapter 1: Arrangement
And cue Super Ramona! She just had another evolution. Maybe this would include some kind of sense of her loved one's condition and their location? Anyway, I think Greg can kiss his remaining independence goodbye. I'm anxious to get back to Dave and his problems. Unlike the other normals, only his daughter cares what happens to him and she's too young to do anything about it.
Author's Response:
I can say Ramona doesn't have any power that lets her sense Greg besides that paranoia we all have sometimes. If she did Grag wouldn't have even made it to work.
You're probably right Ramona may never let him leave the house again if she's not too distracted hunting down and murderering Greg's assailants
Dave....well..his life sucks. I'm surprised you readers even care about him. He probably deserves his own chapter but he's not that lucky. We'll get back to that soon, but we have other people to check on....maybe he'll win the lottery or something he's earned some good karma.

Oh, Ramona is not going to be a happy person, is she?
Another good chapter. Greg's boss ultimately ended up being a bit...nicer, than I expected her to be, and it was pleasing to see that she isn't without empathy.
But seriously though, I was hoping for more reasons for Ramona to flex her muscle and this might just provide it. Poor Greg, though.
Author's Response:
Yeah well Greg should've known better. I mean trying to propose! No way I' m letting a normal be that happy without working for it. Ramona told him it was dangerous for a normal. Maybe he'll listen next time....ppfft :p

Wow, I just started really reading this story. Originally I just skimmed the first chapter was expecting a different story. Three chapters in and I thought you were jumping through different vignettes. Then I realized everything was interconnected and it was awesome. Last story I've seen pull that off is the Titan series and that universe has four authors.
I'm particularly engrossed in the stories surrounding Tyler and Mary. It's pretty hard for the "normal" in this world, but they thankfully have some powerful allies. Mary's story is especially touching, and somewhat surprising at parts.
I wasn't quite sure what Shelia was trying to get across. Make sure Tyler knew he was inferior, to what purpose? Not like a change in attitude will change his circumstances. And given that normals spontaneously elevate with little forewarning, such a lesson might be for not. Speaking of which, I wonder how Rain becoming a class 3 will change things. Will she become super protective like Ramona or out grow Tyler like Barbara and David, (one of the worst outcomes I hate to see where one partner in a relationship gains superpowers.)
You have a new reader. (Sorry if I messed up any names, I'm trying to review and recall 10 chapters.)
Author's Response:
You actually read it all in one sitting?!...Kudos to you.
Without revealing too much the potentiol to elevate is genetic and people like let's say Mary or Dave just weren't born with it. So Tyler may never elevate and the world won't be kind to him in the meantime.
Rain is different from Barbara in that she only just elevated and has spent the entirety of her life normal. Her personality and outlook may change but chances are nothing as bad as Barbara or Walter or even Sheila.
It's always nice to hgave a new reader. :)

Well, even if you did do it to Tyler, there's nothing that seems to indicate that things would be ALL bad for him. Elevation of any type seems to come with a lot of general perks, both mental and physical, and the right mental improvements could be very valuable in this world regardless of his size.

I continue to hate Barabara. Please do something to fight this, Amy :(
Not too much else to say, since this is only a part 1. Greg and Ramona's morning-time antics continue to amuse...and was that Megan, by chance?
That said...
> (I'd recommend looking at the tags in particular one I haven't used yet.)
...son of a bitch, I didn't even notice that one. I...don't know if I'll laugh or cry if poor Tyler ends up elevating only for him to be the cause of that tag. Regardless, eagerly looking forward to more, as usual.
Author's Response:
Barbara's a bitch but this isn't over.
Yes that was Megan. I knew Greg would have an interaction with a class 2 and Megan just fit. Fun Fact: Her morning jogs span the entire city.
Now see you've just given me the darkest inspiration....I don't want to but..DAMN!....I-I have a lot to think about.
Date: April 16 2014 2:10 PM Title: Chapter 1: Arrangement
Ya know, when Rain first elevated I was all for having her explore being a Class 3 and it's been awesome. But I'm going to be an infuriating hypocrite and note that I'm now getting really curious what a girl's life would be like in the first days of being a class 2.
Coming home from school to find her family looking like dolls, her best friend so delicate, a new group of big girl friends. I suppose I'm interested less in Tyler's perspective of Rain, but more in Rain's perspective of Tyler and the world (such as her amazing realization upon elevation that Tyler really did need to be put into his place).
Well that's why we keep writing. Love the series, excited at whatever new avenues you explore.
Author's Response:
I still plan on exploring a lot of that with Rain even as a class 3. In my universe every class is considered special and equal in different ways. We'll find out soon that this class system if very flawed when I eventually get to the chapter where Ramona finally visits the doctor. A lot of people don't fall into either of the 3 classes the government designated. (I'd recommend looking at the tags in particular one I haven't used yet.)...And hey just because Rain was the first to elevate in this story doesn't mean someone else won't elevate to class 2 later.......Maybe a side story. Hrmmm-_-....I don't think I've spoiled anything.

I just recently started reading this story. So far it's quite good. I do like that in several cases the characters have good underlying reasons for their behaviour. For example Sheila terrorizing Tyler because she thinks it's in his own best interest. Also doing it not out of malice, but more of trying to protect him when she's not around and also she's doing the teenage equivalent of a boy pulling on a girl's pig tails. What I'm saying is it's very interesting to see a multi-faceted character that's motivation is more than self-gratification.
I'm also interested to see how the Dave/Barbara/Amanda triangle plays out, especially as it's likely two of those three might see the third as a cold and cruel character whom only came back now that Amanda might be worth having as a daughter. (I'm assuming Barabra didn't see her daughter much between her elevation, and her daughter's, if at all.) Makes you wonder what Barbara's been up to in that time.
Author's Response:
It's always nice to have new readers and hey! You even decided to comment so that's double nice. Dave/Amanda/Barbara is a very complicated relationship but I can say it doesn't end here.

Happy to check in with Greg. He seems to be doing a good job adjusting his masculinity in the New World and mostly living a good life. I'm curious how his relationship with a class 3 might differ from Tyler & Rain.

I too enjoyed many things about the lost version of this chapter. The same plot points got hit, but some of the "feeling" was lost. Emily likes Mary? Awkwad! And could lead to some problems if Mary has to reject it. Ramona and Greg's relationship is portrayed as good as ever and I enjoy reading about it. Some of Walter's internal dialogue humanizes him somewhat. Can a loser who was destined to be in and out of jail for the rest of life, avoid that fate, even and despite all his power? Dave's daughter was the last thing he had left that gave his life any meaning. Losing her will probably accelerate the downward spiral he's been on since the original incident with Walter and the loss of his wife. His only hope is that his daughter fights it, which I think she's old enough to do unless the courts find a compelling reason to deny her wishes.
I look forward to reading more!
Author's Response:
People probably aren't going to like what happens early on but give it time.

Author's Response:
Who doesn't like relationships? Yay a Greg fan! You might enjoy the next chapter which he is the star of.
Hopefully its a happy chapter, Poor guy has to live in a world where he's close to insignificant, i hope Ramona is good to him .
Author's Response:
It shouldn't be too bad. We only really know Greg through his interactions with Ramona it's about time we see what he does when he's away from her loving domination.

I felt it was a nice trade off between the bits lost and the bits added in this new part.
The ending does pile on Dave but it is realistic, hopefully it doesn't get much worse for him.
Author's Response:
I'm still on the fence about the new chapter. As far as Dave...well we can only hope.

You know, mary was quite accepting of the revelation that anouther girl had a crush on her. Didn't stop to think about it just immediatly decided she was going to start flirting. kind of a snap decision huh? especially with how dissatisfied she seems with working for her.
Anyway, I don't know how dave's story will play out, but I hope the next words out of his mouth start with an F and end with a you.
Author's Response:
Yeah I think I handled that a little better in the lost upload. My hope is to leave it rathe ambiguous. Mary hasn't had much time for relationships or dating since she lost her teaching job. She doesn't know what she wants. It's guaranteed to be ackward and might end in heart break :o
Date: April 03 2014 2:25 PM Title: Chapter 9: The More Things Change
I'm glad you were able to recreate this one, it's one of my favorite chapters. I think you recaptured the original and added some nice new moments.
I'm curious how Mary & Emily's relationship will develop. From the previous chapter I didn't get the impression that Emily was looking for a girlfriend so much as a toy to torment, but I guess in the new world there will be some pretty extreme relationships. I hope Mary is able to find a dynamic that can make her happy, but I'll be sad if Emily gives up the joy she gets from having Mary under thumb.
Author's Response:
Emily's true feelings haven't been fully discussed yet besides admiration, which can easily turn into other things and most people don't think about someone staying with them indefinitely because they like them as friends, but I'm just rambling now. Feel free to make your assumptions Ramona doesn't seem to have a problem doing so. Whatever I decide the power dynamic between them probably won't change much.

Hopefully Marys comment on Ramonas stamina will help her appreciate Gregs effort a little more. I like the Greg and Ramona couple :) and hopefully Ramona explaining to Mary her situation with Emily will help spark something. Yay relationships!
