A better title for this chapter would have been "Journey To The Far Side Of The Pun!"

Other than that, I enjoyed the whole thing, immensely. Thanks for the nostalgia. :-)

Author's Response:

Any time. Glad we share Gerry Anderson shows in common too.

Ah! But, as I remember it, only one of the alien races on FIREBALL XL-5 had developed artificial teleportation. Earthlings still "dinna have the power."

;-)

Author's Response:

I hope i hid it well in the story, but I don't know the organisation that Fireball XL-5's team is part of. I'll bet you can help out on that one.

I can barely wait for the next chapter. FIREBALL XL-5 was the first Anderson series syndicated on American television, where I live. And, I always got a kick out of the accents voiced by Steve's partners!

Maybe it was the result of re-dubbing by the American syndicators; but, Venus always sounded like one of the Gabor sisters. And, Matthew Matic--while resembling a clean-shaven Einstein--sounded like Walter Brennan!

Author's Response:

Matthew Matic. So that was his name. That's why I didn't mention it. I forgot. I really liked Paul Maxwell's great voice for Steve Zodiac, having liked his voice of Captain Travers in Thunderbirds are Go the movie too.

Yes!!! I was right.

Author's Response:

And unlike me, you can remember what BIGRAT and BISHOP stand for. I had to cheat the acronymns into the story without remembering.

I think I know where this is going. Can you say "Joe 90 and his B.I.G.R.A.T?"

Author's Response:

You got it in 90 ... err, in one.

I don't know why Alan would have any kind of difficulty in handling TB-1. Aside from only being flight-capable within Earth's atmosphere, it's not that different in design from TB-3!

Author's Response:

Apart from the fact that he was based on Derren Nesbitt's facial features. LOL.

Yes! A typical TB cliff-hanger, just like I remember. :-)

Author's Response:

Guess who's online?

What? No Space: 1999? I'm disappointed!

Author's Response:

I made a rule with myself that this story would be just the puppet characters, and then broke it to use the Journey to the Far Side of the Sun's new planet to replace the shrunken Mars, but my plan was to try to write a time travel crossover between UFO and Space 1999 some time in the not too distant future too.

They are my favourite shows of Gerry's, but it was hard to work them into a crossover, because UFO is clearly set in 1980 (unlike all the futuristic puppet shows in the 21st Century); and with Space 1999, once the moonbase was blasted out of earth orbit, the possibility of interaction with other characters was pretty much impossible.

I haven't thought of anything in either show to build a gts plot from either, but maybe I'll make up my own.
