I absolutely love how you're slow-rolling Aiden's background out!

So his deceased wife Irina was a giantess too, huh? That actually makes a lot of sense, given how comfortable he seemed around Eden before. Her size doesn't bother him because he's used to it. And hey, at least he seems to have a type (he likes 'em tall!).

This revelation also makes me look back more fondly at that conversation he had with Brad last chapter. I had pegged them as old friends, maybe dating back to their childhood days. For Aiden to be so close to his in-laws is pretty awesome! And Brad legitimately wanting his sister's widow to move on is pretty cool, too! Of course he wants what's best for Lily, but he also clearly wanted to help Aiden find love again. Given how some in-law relationship go, I think the fact that these two are so tight is pretty awesome!

I also think it was a nice touch to have the narrative focus more on the potential impact dating Eden could have on Lily. The fact that Aiden wants a role model for his daughter, especially if she becomes a giant, is a very realistic consideration. Any single parent will tell you that their children are a major factor in any dating decision they make.

Not only that, but while the narrative directly tells us about this thought process, Aiden's actions here clearly show us how into Eden he already is. The nervousness he has over the whole thing and him actually debating the best way to reach out to her makes it pretty clear that he likes her for far more than what she can be for his daughter. And the way he continues to question if he's good enough to even try to ask Eden out is both adorable and relatable!

But backtracking just a bit, I kind of glossed over the big reveal here, didn't I? We now know that giants start off the same size as humans and that the at least growth can be hereditary. So it seems to be a natural phenomenon, and it's still pretty rare, as it sounds like the world isn't quite built to accommodate giants yet. I can see how that would be concerning to a father and how he'd want someone with experience to be there to guide his daughter through navigating such a world.

Of course, there are still questions. Lily is already showing signs of inheriting her mother's height? It sounds like she's doing so at a younger age than usual. So at what age does the average person start growing past normal heights? Does this growth naturally take place over time or is there a sudden "growth spurt" that hits at a certain point? How much time will Aiden have to prepare?

And what a cliffhanger! I love that Eden doesn't play games and was seemingly quite eager to reach out after Aiden's text. Given what we know about her and her feelings for Aiden already, this isn't overly surprising. But man was it satisfying to see her call him almost immediately after that text!

So yeah, this monologue was really interesting! And now I'm really looking forward to seeing our two main characters interact again! Their time apart has really built up anticipation for this!

Author's Response: As per usual, you’re getting everything out of the chapter that I hope readers get out of it, and asking some great questions regarding where things go next! I have a feeling you’ll really enjoy the latest chapter. It’s currently out exclusively on size fiction, and can be red at the following link: https://sizefiction.net/story/show/243/5

And now that poor man must experience the most terryfying experience ever : the crush's unscheduled call !

Author's Response:
Glad the world building hit as intended in this chapter!

That unscheduled call is always a terrifying experience, even if you’ve dated a giantess before

Okay, so giants are rare but not that rare, it seems.

Either that or maybe that's part of why Eden feels so comfortable around Aiden; she's not the first giant he's met, so her size probably isn't a huge deal to him. I imagine people are either left in awe of her size (like that Marcus fuck) or naturally on edge or even afraid of her until they get to know her. Knowing now that Aiden has been friends with a giant for so long, it makes sense why Eden's size wouldn't be a major thing for him, which likely makes her feel like she can be more herself (unlike when she dealt with Marcus and buried her annoyance to be polite).

This would also tend to mesh with Eden's hit cover Everybody's Got a Story. She picked that decades-old song to cover and made sure the core theme of the original version remained intact: That everyone has their own struggles. And given what we know about Eden (which, granted, isn't a lot yet), it seems pretty obvious that her size gives her some difficulty. Being the object of a whole fetish (due both to her size and celebrity status, I'm sure) has to be upsetting. Those people don't see her for who she is but only care about her size. That has to be lonely. So it makes sense that she would naturally be into someone who acts like she's a normal person (Aiden has some giant experience and seems to interview celebrities regularly, so neither of those things are likely to be seen as overly special by him).

Hell, even when Aiden reflected back on that moment he shared with Eden, he briefly thought of her being 5'5" instead of giant-sized, "a normal human being who understood the weight of my burdens." His feelings for her a genuine and based on who she is as a person, not status or size. And Eden has clearly picked up on that if she's so willing to get chummy with him (and to keep thinking about him after he left).

That's not to say he's not into her size at all. I mean, he did consider what it would be like with her towering over his daughter and him, keeping them in her protective embrace. It's just that her size doesn't define her in his mind, while it does for most others.

I like Brad, though. Not falling on people is pretty important regardless of size, so I'm left wondering why I don't get paid for that. Should I maybe start threatening people and see what happens?

But Brad seems like a good friend, teasing when he can but serious when he needs to be. Aiden needed a push, as, while he doesn't define Eden by her size and status, he does acknowledge them and feels like those things (her status, at least) put her well out of his league, despite the connection they seem to share. So it was good to see Brad get a little pushy here, even telling Aiden to go ask her out after he only said he'd think about it (that felt like Brad already knew what Aiden was going to decide, which shows how close those two are).

And Brad mentioning what a good dude and dad Aiden is cuts to the core of the issue. Aiden is worried that he's not good enough because of his job (and possibly his size), but his friend reminds him of what's actually important. Eden would likely rather go out with a tiny middle class dude than a rich, snobby giant any day of the week. Brad read between the lines of what Aiden told him about her and realized that these are two grounded, down-to-Earth people who are just looking for a real connection. So why not try and make it happen?

Aiden does have some legit concerns, though. If he goes out with her and it doesn't work out, he's right that this could potentially damage their young friendship (although that doesn't have to be the case, but it's kind of rare to stay friends after something like that, I think).

His concern about his career is interesting, though. Does he think she just wouldn't want him to interview her anymore if it doesn't work out, or is he worried that dating the subject of past and potentially future articles will make him appear biased and cost him assignments?

But yeah, this was another really good chapter! These characters are really getting fleshed out without taking up a ton of real estate, and that's very much appreciated! I look forward to seeing where things go next!

Author's Response:
Once again, you’ve hit the nail on the head in terms of what I hope readers get out of the chapter, and once again, you’re asking all the right questions.

Can’t wait to hear what you think as the story progresses.

Okay, so Eden isn't the only giant around, and based on that "folks my size" comment from her, it sounds like this is natural occurrence of some kind, as the word folks implies a sense of kinship to me. But it's pretty rare, apparently, so I don't think she's part of a giant race or anything like that (although that's still possible; their race could just be dying out). So if I had to guess, I'd say this is some unique condition that very few people have.

I really enjoyed seeing Eden's irritation at her moment with Aiden getting interrupted like that. It not only shows just how much she enjoys spending time with him, even just casual conversation, but also her grace in dealing with the source of that irritation being something that annoys her. She already clearly doesn't like dealing with this Marcus guy, and he's taking away from time with someone she wants to be around, but she was really nice and polite despite all of that. Hell, she even empathized with the guy, even though, at first glance, he didn't seem to see her as anything other than her size. That says a lot about who she is as a person, and I came away from this chapter loving Eden even more than I did coming out of chapter one, and I liked her quite a bit then!

You know, I'm not a huge fan of characters in these fetish stories that are macrophiles, but I think it makes a lot of sense here. In a world where giants exist but are rare, people being into them seems like a logical certainty. It's like any other exotic thing, really. But once Marcus started talking about "the macrophiles," I immediately knew why she didn't want to deal with him. Being the object of someone's fetish, at least if that's what the "relationship" is built off of, is a very awkward thing. I don't blame Eden for wanting no part in that.

That conversation does make me wonder how well Marcus and Eden know each other, though. Eden knows who he is, so I have to wonder if that's because he's talked to her about his fetish before just as a fan (which is creepy, obviously). Or did they know each other before Eden grew (unless I was wrong and she was born into a race of giants, she would have been born normal-sized and grown later, It think)? There was just enough going on in this brief conversation to leave me curious.

I love, love, love that Eden seems tight with her bouncers. They were relieved when she came to deal with Marcus, which means they weren't concerned about her going off on them for struggling to keep this dude out. And that conversation with the third bouncer at the end of the chapter was so fucking sweet! I know it was primarily about Aiden and his daughter, but that the bouncer recognized that Aiden saw her for who she is instead of her size is a clear indication that he's keeping an eye on her, that he cares. I was a little touched by that, even though it was a small thing.

I was also left wondering if Eden has met Aiden's daughter before. She called the daughter adorable, but she could have just seen pictures. Then again, maybe she agreed to meet the daughter in person and talked to her or something. This made me wonder just how well Aiden and Eden know each other already. Has he just done a few interviews with her and this stuff came up in passing for Eden to wonder about or are they close enough already that things like meeting his daughter are normal for her at this point. I like that we're kind of left to figure out for ourselves how far back their pre-established relationship goes.

This was another great chapter, and again, I'm impressed with how much you put out there in so few words. My anticipation at seeing more of Aiden and Eden together is rapidly growing, and I'm already rooting for them, despite them not even having a date set yet!

Author's Response:

You’ve covered pretty much everything I’ve wanted people to get out of the chapter, and then some! It’s great to see characters like Eden landing so well with readers. Stay tuned, some of your questions will be answered in future chapters.

Oh, and I forgot to even bring up the mystery of why Eden is so big!

At first, her "land of the little" comment made me think this was a world where both giants and tinies just exist together. But then the MC mentions her "unique circumstances" at the end of the chapter, which makes it sound like she's either the only or one of the few 130-foot-tall people in the world. I'm really curious to learn more about how she ended up that large in the first place!

Author's Response: You’ll get answers to some of these questions in future chapters. Stay tuned!

I'm actually really jealous of this!

You accomplished so much in just 600 or so words, things that I take thousands of words to convey, and you did it so well here! This is a really impressive way to open up a story!

The already established relationship between Eden and the main character is really intriguing but also makes a lot of sense. It seems like they've really connected as people during and probably after previous interviews. But Eden not only going out of her way to talk to him beyond the press she's getting but also being legitimately concerned about his personal life was so touching. She's such a sweetheart, and I love how she fit that "surprisingly down to earth" description you gave her so well!

The MC's family situation is really tragic, and you were able to make that clear without any real exposition. Just a question and a quick clarifying sentence in the narrative and we were right back in the conversation without feeling interrupted. And the thought of his daughter belting out Eden's song is so heartwarming!

I also love how Eden was kind of annoyed how something probably more professional-related took her attention away from the MC. She was really enjoying that conversation with him and reassuring him about how he's doing as a parent. That's a really subtle way to show how deeply she cares about him early on.

And the way you conveyed her size was just awesome! The footsteps of Eden both coming and going, her getting into a crouch just to talk to the MC, the slight tremor of her putting her hand on the ground to lean in even closer (another nice piece of intimacy, by the way), and even the warmth of her finger on her shoulder lingering after she took it off: All of this was perfect in showing us just both how big she is and how gentle her soul is. And, again, you got all of that in such a condensed piece of writing.

I'm already really invested in this story, and I'm so eager to see where you go from here!

Author's Response: I’m honoured to get such a great review from an author/reviewer of your caliber! This review sums up exactly what I wanted the reader to get out of this chapter - from the interactions to the dialogue to the size difference. Glad to hear you’re so invested this early on. Not bad. And I think that the young reporter and the pop star giant belong together and once they are together, they could also let his daughter grow up to be a giant. And the reporter belongs in the pop star's breast pocket. But that's just my opinion. And please keep it up.
