I like that individuals are being used as intimate objects. My preference would be to focus on objects used by women, but I understand that some objects would also be used by men. Of course, there are many such objects that could be the subject of future chapters (panties, bras, socks, sanitary pads, adult diapers, portable toilets, etc.). And you could also tell the stories of other lottery losers - both young and old.

Just a suggestion to add to the believability of the stories preface:
Over-population is a problem in many places throughout the world. It is an especially harsh reality in regions where there is strife, starvation, and war. It might make more sense to offer this new technology of turning people into useful objects in areas where life is cheap, civil rights don't exist, and military might holds sway - as an alternative to suffering, with incentives being offered for governments or organizations who "volunteer" people for this transformation.

I did actually have the idea to do something along those lines, but not quite exactly what you suggested. Incorporated vastly over populated places like china into the mix
