That was a solid start. The premise is fascinating, and i can see that you took your time to develop this post-war world, and that made for a potentially very interesting setting.

The descriptions are in general pretty poignant, and i like the relationship between the two drivers.

If i were to offer a critique, I've seen some grammatical errors here and there, although nothing major, mostly verbs slipping and orthography errors and a couple of periods are written in a confusing way, which made me unable to understand what was happening. I'll give it a 4.5/5 nevertheless cause those are very minor issues in the first two chapters (the ones that i've read).
