Great first story, really impressive how good it is. Only complaint is how short it was, but besides that I really enjoyed it.

Thanks! I wanted to do something shorter and more self-contained for a first attempt, to make sure that people like it before committing to something more involved. Make sure I know how to pitch before I play a whole game of baseball, yknow?

The response I've gotten has been really positive, so I'm working on something more long-form now!

I really like how she knows him even better than he knows himself. He's helpless without her. Lots of feelings of futility and powerlessness.
