This was a delightful read. The interactions were heartfelt, and the prose has a fairytale quality to how its presented. Most of all, I really enjoyed the characters, Beatrice in particular. Her loyalty to Lenore and the extreme devotion she shows her, both mentally and through the skills she'd built through her dedication, is compelling already, but is only heightened by how caring she is towards Acorn, a strange, tiny girl who has been steali-, sorry, "borrowing" from her mistress. The brief mentions to her past certainly add to her character, but I really love the small moments we see from her, such as her thinking: "I want to pet her so fucking bad," which when filtered through her honed politeness becomes: "May I caress you?" or when she kisses Acorn and it progresses from delicate pecking to passionate licking. Really solid job with her and with the story in general.
