My opinions on each god:
(Personally, I really like how each god is not who they initially seem)

  • Melissa initially looked the most stable god, but she might actually be the biggest control freak of the bunch, and will thus likely not accept any changes in the status quo where she is on top;
  • Hailee is the one I just can't figure out. On one end, she is clearly controlling like Melissa, but she is also aware of her faults and seeing a psychiatrist. For now, I'm guessing that she is just possessive and cannot handle someone else taking what's "hers";
  • Alexandra, I think, is clearly just high on getting worshipped, be it out of devotion or fear. However, her interactions with Emma and Brad do reveal that there is more to her;
  • Brad is probably the most relatable of the bunch and thus probably the one we are gonna spend the most time with.

MY PREDICTIONS:
With the title being "Divinity Lost", I'm guessing that Brad will gradually lose his godhood as he lives a mortal life and this will create a power vacuum between the remaining goddesses as they vie to obtain the souls of Brad's former worshippers.

Since Alexandra is the one whom Brad will be worshipping, I'm guessing that she will (accidentally) absorb his powers, immediately giving her a leg up on the others.
This will piss off Melissia, who will no longer be the top goddess, prompting her to increase her followers.
In turn, this will upset Hailee at Melissia "stealing" her worshippers.
And so, the power struggle is on!

For now, I think Brad will just make an excuse and leave the gym before Camilia finds out his secret and they will stay in contact. Of course, this will inevitably create a future conflict with Alexandra once the goddess learns about her. And Brad will be unable to stop her physically since she absorbed his powers.
I also hope to see Emma again and she will have grown interested in Alexandra to the point of using her journalistic skills to find out more about her past, since she is the only god whose background we have yet to explore.

So yeah!
Those are my opinions on each god and where I believe the story is going.

Please let me know what you think...

Author's Response:

Oh wow; now that’s a comment!

I wonder if it’s too early to ask people which god they like, when we’ve only seen episodic, slice-of-life type scenes with them. The lore and their ascension history would put into context each god’s character. But I purposely dove into the story this way, because I love it when stories unfold over time instead of just telling everything upfront. So, I’m sorry if the characters don’t make a whole lot of sense or seem too capricious.

The title “Divinity Lost” serves two purposes: one, it’s an homage to the epic poem “Paradise Lost” which is about Lucifer leading a rebellion against god and being sent to hell for it; two, it alludes to the history of how these gods became gods and how their power ‘may’ be fleeting. Again, I haven’t told the entire story upfront, and a lot of the backstory is purposefully a mystery.

Your predictions are awesome. I love ‘em. I’d say you’re close about Camilla and Emma. They’ll come back and create a lot of drama between the gods. Camilla will cause a rift between the gods, and Emma will serve to open Alexandra. It’s gonna be fun exploring all of them.

Awesome comment. I’m grateful you took the time to write it. I hope you enjoy the future chapters!

I liked Melissa initially until she ate all those people on the boat.  I think a God/Goddess needs to give people time to come around, even if it takes decades.   I think that is why the system of jailing people for such long periods of time exists.   If there is even a small chance of redemption over their lifetime of being jailed is possible, then that is the reason to do it.   Also, I don't like that Melissa is not really treating her husband as a true partner in her life.   She is acting behind his back, and keeping secrets.   A true marriage just doesn't do that kind of stuff.

Hailee is just to concerned over that guy she likes, and is too obsessed with him.   She seems nice, but doesn't really seem open to other people who might really love her like she wants be loved.

Alexendra is strange because she likes to be nice, but she also likes to crush cities.   I guess she is Hedonistic too.

Brad is pretty relatable as a guy who wanted to do all of the god stuff, and then realized he should just be himself.  I guess even though I would want to worship a woman, I think I would be on team Brad given what I have seen so far.   Weird.

Author's Response:

Haha, yea, you’re pretty spot on with each god. I probably should’ve asked this question much later—after discovering more about the world and who these gods really are. I understand how Melissa’s actions may seem horrible at the moment, but she’s a product of being a goddess. Really interesting you’re on Team Brad. Nothing wrong with that, but I think I got my work cutout for me to really show who these goddesses are. :)

Great chapter and the story has been amazing so far

Now I think the best gods are Melissa, Alex, Hailee and Brad so far

and the god I would worship is probably Melissa and close second Hailee

Author's Response:

Team Melissa, all the way :)

Somehow I get the impression that Alexandra knows every single person that she steps on, and that each and every one of them deserves it in some way.  It wouldn't surprise me if deserving people somehow manage to not be crushed during her rampages.  Just my thought on the topic of her.   I think she is hiding her purposeful destructive nature just to generate the fear/worship from everyone else.

The soul-ownership aspect is really interesting. If a goddess eats someone, do they get their soul regardless of who they worshipped? How does Carlos feel about knowing he’ll be owned by his mom when he dies (or will he, if he doesn’t worship her)? Will Hailee make amends with Grace and convince her she won’t be subject to eternal damnation? Alexandra seems like a bit of a hypocrite - does she give her victims a pleasant afterlife? Great work so far!

Author's Response:

Hey, thanks for your comment! You raised a lot of though-provoking questions.

In my documents folder, I have 5 pages of lore, world building, and rules that define the universe in this story. I’ve written everything about souls, the afterlife, religion, and politics across these pages and use it as my bible (heh) when I write the story. I also have an explanation of the start of the universe and the who, what, where, and why these four gods are (seemingly) out of nowhere become gods. In other words, I theory-crafted the ever living shit out of this universe before I uploaded the first chapter.

Because I’m one of those, show don’t tell writers I won’t be answering your questions here. You can always DM me on discord if you want to speak privately, and I’ll give you the low-down if you don’t mind spoilers. But I recommend sitting back for the ride. Because it’s gonna get good.

Really enjoying the new story!   However don't forget about Lilliput!

Both are great, I am just a huge fan of Lilliput and hope you won't stop on that one.

Author's Response:

Haha, I haven’t forgotten about Lilliput. Imma finish up the next chapter of this story and then hop back on Lilliput. This has been a nice mental break from the near-constant writing I’ve been doing since last September.

Funny how the only god whose toenail color we never found out was Alexandra who's the one using her feet lol

I wonder how many gods there are. I'm also curious to imagine what Alexandra's afterlife is like.

I imagine she was more so upset they were blaming her for doing bad things rather than them doing bad things in the first place. Tho, I believe it's implied she may have been poor before she became a god.

Author's Response:
  • I legit didn’t know I was describing each goddess’s toenails until you brought it up. I guess that was a foul for not describing Alexandra—and she’s the one that would smite an author for not showing her due respect.

  • There are four gods. 3 Goddesses and 1 God.

  • Alexandra is a complex character, and there’s a lot going through her mind that drives her actions. Her background (pre-ascension) and her newfound powers amplify her behavior and thought process. There’s a lot going on, and I can’t wait to write her next chapter.

Great addition, 2 down 2 to go. Hopefully the next goddess. It's a little bit more sexy.

Author's Response:

I think you'll like Goddess Alexandra in that case, lol. Thank you for your continued support.

Ill always be a fan of busty mega milfs. Cant wait to see what you have planned for this story.

Author's Response: Not only is she a mega MILF, she's a goddess in charge of all gods. She's a great character :)

This is fantastic. I absolutely love the premise. A woman attaining power but still navigating elements of her normal life.
I love Melissa. Hopefully I love the other gods just as much. Can’t wait to read more!

Author's Response:

I hope you like the others too. I'm putting a lot of work into each god so that they feel real.
