Too bad he doesn't respond... silly replies ("is my name on the research paper?", "can I have a raise?" etc) would be a nice way to show why he ended up not responding; other options would have been eg that he HAS to congratulate her to stay safe, or maybe that he does, she looks at him and asks him if his brain has shrunken and more research is needed - you get the idea.
But that's just my personal opinion; the story is *objectively* good!

Thank you for the input! With anything World of Giants, the shrunken people are very much downtrodden and despair is a BIG (hah, get it?) theme in the setting for those that succumb to the shrinking disease. I wanted to hold true to that idea. If you enjoyed this you should look up anything OnlyYouGTS has done (Twitter's a good place to start) as the renders are all great and the stories that accompany them are even better than this!
