@ Kazuma: morality may be not be black-and-white. But, neither is it a uniform gray. It's more like multiple shades of gray...with some shades undeniably darker than others. And, with all due respect to what the Phoenixes go through on a daily basis in their world? They're still just perpetuating a vicious circle of horrid cruelty! And, if they're not careful, they'll become the monsters of Nietzschean philosophy (i.e., worse than the ones they fight).

Holy crap, well I guess the phoenixes being the defacto "good guys" goes out the window. Both groups of resistance member groups were trying to screw eachother over.

How are they supposed to fight an group as organized as the Society, not to mention with much better technology + gts's, when they're all split up into smaller groups like this?

Things aren't looking good for shrunken humanity if THIS is the best they can offer.

Author's Response:

Yep. Their better than the Society but are not exactly "good".

And indeed, things do look grim.

@Zanderas

I know the kind of world they live in but I don’t have to like their methods. The chapter made me uncomfortable reading it. You get all the praise for that. I’m not complaining or anything lol

To think I said there wasn’t enough grey in early Act 1.

Author's Response:

Ahh I see. Good, cause you were supposed to be unconfortable. This chapter was meant to show the Phoenixes are not paragons of goodness.

And there will be plenty of grey in this story.

Lol is the title chapter supposed to be an oxymoron?

This chapter showed that the phoenixes are just as barbarous as the society in their methods, not exactly the best hope for shrunken mankind. Tiffany reminded me of pre-giantess Aviel a bit except she’s far more of a stone cold bitch.

Author's Response:

Yes.

Tiffany kinda is supposed to remind you of her. That said, do remember the kind of world the Phoenixes are in. It was pretty much either kill the Snakes or die themselves. Yes their methods are horrid and cruel, but they live in a horrid and cruel world where many of them could die at any moment. Tiffany lost her entire squad and second squad in this chapter.

Those poor Snakes! It would appear that Darius doesn't subscribe to the theory that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend."
