Chapter 18:

This was a great chapter with Kate and her reverse giga transformation. The realization that the micro humans were people like her and that her size could affect their world in the most simplest of ways, even to the point where it restricts her greatly, was very good. It was a little impractical but the giant screen that allowed Kate to see the people she’s been interacting with up close so that each one could be personalized was a great idea. It really helped drive Kate’s new perspective of the world home. The problem now is how she’s going to keep herself from cracking under the burden of what she knows. Interacting with the other caretakers is just going to be even harder.

Oh yeah, don’t kill Gary. He’s the mainstay micro human this story needs :p

Chapter 19:

Well who know who must have did you know what if Nicole is already destroying her zones. Amber and Nicole are completely ignorant to Kate’s real feelings and it’s kind of amusing. It’s like Kate is the true adult among ignorant children. I wish Kate could have saved the humans in the container she had. Like pretend she was going to play with them in private and then bring them into her zone. But I guess with the stress she was under from just being with them it didn’t cross her mind.

The zone destruction didn’t really do anything for me. I guess that was the point but even if it had more detail and was “sexy” I probably would have been more pissed off at Nicole anyway or maybe not. More like this is awesome, but fuck you Nicole. Eh, I guess it wasn’t the interaction I wanted but within the context of the story it made sense. It did make me think that even if Nicole found out the truth it would make her worse. She already likes to control and manipulate things. What’s better than controlling the lives of millions?

And again don't kill Gary.

Author's Response: I don't need to read a recap of the chapters, but thanks nonetheless :> It's still good to see that at least somebody understands what I was aiming for.

If You figure out something really creative, like how the story is going to end or such - that would be interesting (of course don't put that in a review, feel free to contact - I will keep track of who guessed tight first :>)

As for the screen - at least she has seen them, at least they are no longer "micros" for her, even despite that she has to call them that in the presence of others. I thought it was simple yet powerful, especially how she could clearly see the amplified image in contrast with "the dots" below it.

As for Gary.. I don't know... he's annoying, seriously! What about some replacement perhaps?

What made You think she is decimating her zones? Erica planned all this in ch17 already - have I suggested somehow that they were Nicole's? As for saving - that's the real tragedy of her situation... and it happened so fast. Not to mention that the tinies could hear the others talking - trying to "get away" was the only thing I thought they would do, Kate didn't prepare any trenches or plateaus...

The POV wasn't meant to be "sexy" - how could anyone in their right mind even consider such atrocity appealing in any way. That's also why I wasn't planning to repeat it later. In Nicole's defence - keep in mind that she does not really know what she is doing. The manipulative part - who knows?

The problem with micro interaction is that... well, I agree it is really impractical. Any attempt to.. I don't even know what they could want to do with the people, but it would still end badly. As Kate already noticed, killing people is the only thing they are good at...

And I have no idea where this unhealthy fixation on Gary somehow not dying is coming from - I already wrote he has some time left, that's better than billions already! Not to mention why him - and not Crawford for instance.. he's a cutey. Or Amy.

I'm still reading this. Gadget pretty much explained how I was feeling regarding the last two chapters. Mainly just waiting the meat of the plot to resume.

Author's Response: Well, technically it never really started - Kate's discoveries and Rachel's plight are necessary building blocks in the foundation to facilitate and navigate the events to come - but so were many other things. And thanks for bearing with me - I hope You will not be disappointed in the end (I mean, when Kate turns evil and kills...).

I understand the immense guilt Kate must feel because of what she has done in the past, even though it technically wasn’t her fault. The thing that annoys me, and it’s not really a complaint, is that you were so close with ending this chapter on a good note, instead of a bitter-sweet one with Kate breaking down in her room at the end. You may feel like you’re running out of ideas about how the gigas can interact with the micro humans, but Kate’s zone coming together to reassure her was great and using the monitor they set up to see the individual people was a nice touch, it made me smile.

Finally good to know what the 3/5ths rule meant and how it came to be. While Erica may be the mastermind behind the current way uTopia is ran, the way Rachel explained it made it seem like another party was involved with how the facility starting opening up to them once the 3/5ths rule was laid down. Maybe things will be made clear since Rachel can brainstorm with the former caretakers in Kate’s zone. It amused me that Erica wasn’t adept with technology before the shutdown happened. A century with nothing to do but read would make anyone smart.  I wonder how Nicole is going to take being seen in a lesser light than Kate now.

Also I don’t mind long chapters, it’s usually worth the wait.

Author's Response:
The ending was mainly to emphasize that she is still basically just a teenager - who was put in this extremely difficult position... It was only what, two weeks earlier that she even discovered that millions of actual human lives (rather than just dots) depend on her - and the weight of what it really means hit her again. The guilt was the main driving factor in that particular situation, but there's much more going on in her head (like, she obviously wants to kill Gary). And when it comes to running out of ideas - this kind of interaction feels superficial, that's all I'm saying.

Yeah, a lot of things are yet to happen!

The way how You mention "usually worth the wait" suggests that this may somehow not necessarily be the case :>

Uh, wow... I thought this story had joined the pile of great giantess stories that was never finished. Glad to see this continuing.

Author's Response: Oh, come on.. I did promise I would see it through, now didn't I? And I am glad to see somebody is still reading it!

Reviewer: KazumaR1 Signed
Date: November 18 2013 Title: Chapter 26: Amber – a different training.

Amber is such a pathetic little person. All she really cares about in the end is having “fun” with her micros. All her plans depend on her micro’s develop to a point where she can use some of them to snort up her nose, or pleasure herself, or whatever else she’s thinking about in that simple mind of hers. And I can’t even blame her since she was raised to think that way, which makes it even sadder.

I think being immigrated was the best thing that could have happened to Rachel. She may not be living in a paradise but it has to be better than living with crazy women trying to play goddess at the end of the world.

Author's Response: Basically.

I mean.. life is not just black and white, so any complex enough fiction should reflex that to some extent. Of course it is only natural for us humans to try and simplify what we perceive, categorize it and associate with stereotypes - so we can deal with it, comprehend it. Not to get too metaphysical, lets just hope for things to get better in uTopia. Will it? We will have to see for ourselves...

As for the immigration, I wouldn't go as far as the best thing. While it certainly enabled her to experience a different.. perspective on things, if You will, and maybe become somewhat isolated from others, it also introduced a multitude of problems and dangers. So again, agreed but we should not oversimplify.

Finally got a chance to read all the chapters of this story and I have to say it’s pretty interesting. I like the characters and universe. Hopefully Nephila learns not to paint all humans as cruel through her interaction with Michael.

And to chime in with what the others have said, I do like the role reversal with the humans being the dominant ones over the giants, but from what you’ve displayed at the end of chapter 2 and chapter 3 there are some cracks in the illusion of power the humans have over the giants. Nephila could easily kill Michael and that bitchy Atlantian ridiculously easily if she really wanted to.

One thing I’m confused about though. If Nephila can withstand earth’s gravity, does that make her stronger than the average member of her race? I kind of got the feeling she managed to hold back that savage male due to some enhanced strength.

Author's Response:

Thank you for taking the time to read and review KazumaR1 I'm glad you enjoyed the story.

Nephila will soon realize somehting else about humanity that will alter her perceptions on humanity.

As for the roll-reversal, It goes both ways. The giants have incredible physical power and because of their size they also have a speed advantage, with their main disadvantage being how primative they are.

On the other hand the Atlantians possess powerful technology, and the wisdom to use it as well (not to mention their near immortality and powers), but their main drawback is the fact that they are still very much human and can die easily at the hands of something much bigger and stronger physically than them.

As for Nephila's ability to stand properly in earths gravity unaided, I haven't decided why this is yet. I am currently weighing each explaination to see which one lends itself to the plot best.

Nice to see this continuing! Sadly Nephila’s distain for her own kind is unwarranted even though it is a realistic development for her. Curious to see where this goes.

Author's Response:

Hey Kazuma glad to see you have continued reading.

As for Nephila I totally agree that her hatred is somewhat unwarrented, this is because she is by design an immature character (Mentally, not physically speaking just to clarify). She has no formal education and before Michael came along rarely had any social interaction other than with Athena who sees her as more of a pet than an equal. However, Nephila will certainly develop more concrete reasons for her viewpoints as the story progresses.

Well shit now that you’ve called me out I have to read this now, don’t I?

Lol I kid

Anyway, things have certainly hit the fan, almost too quickly I think. I don’t think Athena got to be all that fleshed out. It’s interesting to hear the Alantians have become so arrogant and grandiose that they have homes as big as cities and that the giants can become extremely possessive. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or bad thing for Michael lol

Interesting to see where this story goes now that Michael and Nephila are planet side and Michael is powerless.

I’m not so sure about the episodic chapters, I guess I’ll have to see how that pans out.

Author's Response:

I do believe you called me out first if I remember correctly.

Athena never got the chance to explain how obsessive they can get but I can assure you that it is a two edged sword.

On the subject of episodes. Think of the episodic chapters as mini-adventures as the two (and eventually four) of them travel in search of the axiom. The main plot will never be far removed from these storys, and with the exception of a few multi-chapter specials they will all end with the main characters continuing their quest.

Reviewer: KazumaR1 Signed
Date: April 20 2014 Title: Chapter 8: Into the Arid Wastes

Sometimes Michael feels smaller than he actually is with the way you describe things. A spear long enough to impale 40 cargo ships? You sure Michael isn’t micro size?

I’m also going to assume Athena did experiment on Nephila to make her naturally used to Atlantian level gravity so her own home world gravity would feel light.

And actually feel sorry for the two Nibiru that Nephila attacked. I can see why that obsession is a double edged sword. Nephila’s mind goes on auto-pilot and she runs on instinct. It could get her and Michael killed.

The Nibiru language does kind of sound like gibberish.

I find it hard to believe that one girl acquired such a huge following for Nephilia based on a single meeting.

Author's Response:

Well, Seems I've got some explaining to do. I guess I'll cover all statments in order.

1) No I'm positive he's not micro. Although I understand why this is confusing. You see, because of this stories setting it can be difficult to create size comparisons since everything takes place thousands of years in the past and the technology is differnet from ours. So I can't just do what normal macro authors do and say things like "As big as a phone booth" because then I would be including elements from out own time into the story. That would just sound awful, and pull readers out of the story entirely.

Thus I need to create things that sound large to compare the giants too.

2) Lips shut on this one.

3) An excellent analysis. Obsession is a powerful emotion like fear or anger. It can definetely be a double edged sword. Also If you knew what the girl was saying you wouldn't feel as bad for her. Btw, the boy is fine; he just has a sore jaw and a couple of loose teeth.

4) Yeah... it does. Then again so do many languages.

5)  I personally felt it was quite believable. The last time they met Nephila did something that is impossible for other giants to do. Although we understand that because Nephila is accustomed to earth level gravity she can jump very high, Nia (the blue painted girl) does not. She saw what Nephila did as a miracle; a display of divine power.

It may not be as incredible as healing the sick or moving mountains, but to a primative like her, what Nephila did was proof that she possesses the same "divine" power as the Atlantians, who as we already know frequently come down and abduct giants.

Hopefully I was able to answer all your questions to your satisfaction. If you require additional explaination just leave me a review and I'll get back to you ASAP

I’m going to be honest. I kind of didn’t remember what was going in the story and I don’t like having to re-read earlier chapters just because of the long delays between them. As for this chapter, it was alright, mainly an aftermath of the previous chapter. I don’t trust nor like Nia so it’s good Michael is being cautious around her.

Author's Response:

You would be correct not to trust her. Nia is simply put completely amoral. At any moment she could kill either of them without hesitation

Summary:

The beginning of the After Shrink High series. A "What-if" scenario where Chijunda lost to the Director on top of the tower. Despite his best efforts, he runs out of time and all living things are shrunk to 1/100th their size.

The story focuses on one of the newly rebuilt, in a sense, cities, Atlanta, GA, and one of its many Ranger squads. Ranger Squad 5 will find itself thrown right into the middle of the war between the Society and the Resistance. Only to uncover a mystery that may bring to light truths they never meant to find...

Much like Shrink High itself, the story and characters are the bigger focus rather than sex. There will be sex scenes, however. Also, not played/gotten the cliffnotes for Shrink High will not make the story unreadable. I made sure to limit things that you would have to have played Shrink High to get as simple shout-outs/gags. The story assumes you have not played the game and brings you up to speed/explains everything.

Ironic that this chapter is called perspective when Aviel is deaf and blind to anything but society drivel. Outside of that, the plot is definitely thickening and I'm very curious what the deal is with Manchent. I expected Sanders to fall into the ressitance but this is much better.

Author's Response:

Well it was more to give the reader some perspective on the Resistance. Up till this point, we have pretty much only seen them through the lense of the Society and now we are getting to see them without that lens warping them. At least in part. Of course, Aviel IS right that the Resistance has burned down entire villages before and slaughtered people. And remember, she has lost her parents AND two partners before Sanders to the Resistance. She has reasons for being rather...hostile toward anything they say.

Why worry about criminal giantesses when the ones on your own side are crazy! But I digress, Lutice seems to be bipolar or something and I’m not going to immediately judge her yet even though she might just turn out to be a total irremediable bitch, who knows?

It sucks that Sander’s is missing and potentially dead. For all that talk about the resistance being evil, now Aviel and Isabella might have to explain to Sander’s parents that the people that were supposed to protect them was ultimately responsible for his death. Meanwhile, Aviel’s desire to be a giantesses is ramped up to elven now and I could only shake my head when she almost died watching the giantesses fight instead of running. Thank god Sanders snapped her out of it. Priorities girl, you must have them. At least she redeemed herself at the end with Fionne.

However I must say the entire fight was pretty awesome and you did a great job describing it from the point of view of the tinies. It really was the battle of the titanesses. Fionne is just getting more awesome and Isabella is pretty damn hardcore for fighting multiple girls at once. Too bad what happened to Sanders is going to hit her like a mack truck.

I have an idea what is going to happen to Sanders and I’m crossing my fingers and hoping it comes true.

Unless the scouts carry recording gear on their person, it’s going to be hard to prove that Lutice’s squad was at fault for the confrontation that led to Sanders getting “killed”, especially with Sanders actually being alive. While I understand their rage, going in guns blazing isn’t going to help make their case at all. I have a feeling the leaders are going to end up siding with the swords because of it.

What is interesting me more is Fionne’s backstory. I don’t think she was cloned. And Morgan might know more into how fairies are really created.

Also, first!

Nice an early update!

This chapter was awesome and even more emotional than the last one. Angela is still a bitch and really don’t know how she became a Matriarch. I almost felt sorry for Aviel until the last third of the chapter when she made a complete face-heel turn. Still part of me hopes she is doing all this to make her loyalty to the Society as legitimate as possible and that she knows that the Society is corrupt on some level, but couldn’t do anything about it at her minuscule size. I also don’t know if she expected Pyrra to save Sanders or if she really was just being as cruel as possible. Wishful thinking since as much as I disliked Aviel’s attitude on things I didn’t want her to go all evil.

I feel for Sanders the most, though. He lost two close friends with one being his enemy now. He has very few people he can turn to. Fionne will be fed Society lies and believe he is dead. He’s probably going to join the resistance due to his hatred for the Society. Could he even go back to his family and tell them what happened? Probably would be too risky.

Excellent and emotional chapter all around. Can’t wait to see what else is in stored.

Author's Response:

Just have to wait and see if she did. Though, to be fair. Pyrrha had blonde hair where as the catgirl Sanders got was black-haired.

Gabby is still around, sorta, but yes right now, assuming Sanders is even still alive, he has pretty much noone.

And thanks for the kind words.

1. Yes it helps with exposition and some of them are amusing to read.

2. To be honest I ignore them. I’d rather set the scene in my head than rely on YT

3. Never played the game so it doesn’t matter to me, but doesn’t the game take place in Japan… Why would they come to America? Either way, I like original stories with only original characters.

4. Once again never played the game, but I enjoy the more realistic feel of the story. That said this universe is still nonsensical to the point where if you place enough scrutiny on how things would actually work with every single living creature shrunk down to 1/100th its normal size the story would break apart. I think you did a good job fleshing out what you could while leaving other stuff to SOD.
