Heartbreaking is really the only way to describe it. The only solace is we know Howard finds someone better.

It's also an insight into the more immediate past of this world, and a possible explanation why Omegas started reproducing.  Good stuff so much on your plate so it's hard to decide which one I want to see updated first.

Author's Response:

The bigger immediate issue is exams taking up so much of my time >_>

Ideally I'd like to get that new chapter of Consequences up first, maybe do another addition to this (likely an immediate followup to this first chapter), then do a Contract chapter. Time, unfortunately, is an issue.

Thank you for reading and reviewing :)

Summary:

A young alchemist after a disagreement with his employer finds himself on the run. In his desperation he flees in a forest that's guarded by more then a few dangerous creatures. The most dangerous of them all being a group of massive beast folk. How unlucky is he when he encounters one in less then an hour? Well luckier then he believed. Just a little side note. The violence and vore in this story tend to be again those that asked for it. I wrote this over a few years so I hope readers will forgive as my writing style changes throughout the story.

Okay took me a couple weeks but I finally read it all! A good story through and through, and I could definitely see some evolution and changes in your writing style as it went on.

Too much content to really comment on but I will say I hope you do write an epilogue of sorts as I felt the end was a bit abrupt. While most of the major issues were resolved or in the process of being resolved perhaps a look in once Joseph’s project was finished would be nice.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review I'm glad you enjoyed it enough to finish reading considering the length of the story. An epilogue is possible but not likely for the moment. I have other concepts I want to write on a bit more. Besides I spent  few years on hunger so I'm a bit fatigued of that setting.

Think now's as agood a time as any to post a review. Noticed this story on some of the other places I frequent and never took the time to read, so I felt now was as good a time as any. Just finished chapter 10, so not even close to halfway through it, really finding myself getting attached to the character and setting. Very solid foundation here.

There are a few quirks to get used to, chapters not being chapters so much as dialogue bleeds over into the next one. Nor are there many times where a chapter could end. Given these early chapters were written a while ago it not be an issue. A few consistent typos wrest instead of rest, and ideal instead of idea but those are minor too.

One thing though that I hope is decreased going forward are Joseph's exposition moments. Moments where he talks to a sister or brother and has a lengthy Q/A session. While it's good for establishing the world at times it might be better to show and not tell. Still as you said the writing style will likely change so maybe that element will as well.

Author's Response:

I hope that it isn't appearing too many places. I once posted my stories just about everywhere I could but then came to think that was poor behavior so i restricted it to a few sites.  I'm glad that you're liking the characters enough to continue reading. It's quite a bit to read.

True about the issues with the earlier chapters. Well the chapters here aren't really spaced how I normally space them anyway. On my deviantart account the story is actually sectioned into 12 page chunks instead of 30. Plus I like to believe I've improved my writing throughout this story. If I have the later chapters should read more smoothly.

I can't remember the story perfectly but I'm not sure if that changes. One thing about writing a story with so many characters is the massive amount of information there is to get across. If I showed everytime instead of telling the story would have taken even longer to write.

Summary:

A young woman, prosecuted for a crime she didn’t commit, is placed in the hands of her titanic best friend to learn a few lessons she didn’t earn but most certainly will never forget.

this will be interesting, though I wonder if I have the stomach for it enough to see it through. It's a lot easier to get through Ackbar's moments knowing the person was guilty but an innocent woman... Well in either case I'm here for the short term!

Author's Response:

Well, I appreciate you giving it a try. Thanks for reviewing!

Makes me wonder how this went down it's pretty hard to fake injuries. Perhaps the betas were intimidated into fingering the wrong person, maybe paid off...

Author's Response:

Thanks for reviewing! More details will be revealed about the crime itself in the next couple of chapters.

Kind of embarrassed I didn’t figure it out sooner. Kept coming up with more elaborate ways she could have been framed without coming to the obvious. I just couldn’t come up with a reason why betas would hurt themselves like that but this definitely went a long way toward explaining things (including the title of the story.)

Author's Response:

It definitely takes very firm belief in a cause to do what these Betas did to themselves. And this chapter was certainly meant to finally define the title, in more ways than one.

Just an incredible chapter really. Following the last chapter I wondered if perhaps if Alexandra had been forced into hurting betas and that there was an actual case against her. Instead she comes across as more heroic managing to resist her mother’s influence and flee into the unknown at the age of ten.  It makes what Nathaniel’s done all the more monstrous as he’s punishing the person that (presumably) saw that his parents got justice.

Author's Response:

Thanks! Yep, Alexandra was not only innocent, but the only reason why Nathaniel's parents saw some kind of justice.

This could be as tragic as it gets if there's nothing that can be done for her. Whether she lives or dies the Omegas better do some serious soul searching about their policies after this.

Author's Response:

Thanks for reviewing. And you're right that the Omegas will have some thinking to do.

Kind of have mixed views on this chapter. I love the guilt with bridget and her mom, I love Alexandra's slow recovery and bitterness. However I just can't get Nathaniel's reasoning at all.

If he had just done it for revenge, fine. If he had done it as some statement that all Alphas were evil and needed to be done away with, fine. But to acknowledge that Lexi had nothing to do with his parent's murder, and was completely innocent, yet still say he was protecting Betas is insane. Granted that might have been the point but it left me with a sour tast in my mouth.

Author's Response:

I can see where you're coming from in that Lexi is good to Betas. Ultimately a combination of Nathaniel's emotional hurt over that night with his parents, and the threat to Betas with Corey's attack, override that fact. It's a response in kind to the fact that a fiercely protected Beta was able to be hurt by an Alpha; now, a fiercely protected Alpha has been hurt. In in the eyes of Nathaniel and his friends, it shows what the class is capable of.

@applecore666

I respectfully disagree, because I can't see how attacking a person who supports Beta rights, and making an organization that promotes Beta rights look stupid, helps Beta rights at all.

If anything Nathaniel's hurt Beta's rights because he's given the Alpha's a martyr. Alphas can say, 'hey of Alexandra was innocent who else have Omegas unjustly punished?', also it can raise hatred against betas. A beta actively scheming and punishing innocent Alphas isn't going to stop Alphas from committing violence against Betas, if anything it might increase it!

Of all the things they could have offered I was surprised that she offered a clean slate, and rather happy that the offer was turned down. As painful as it was it was real, and they will all have to live with it.

On the tease for the next story, it was interesting but the way Ackbar is updating it might not be up till next year. :p

Author's Response:

Thanks for reviewing! Lexi, and maybe even more so Bridget, do indeed have to live with what happened.

I thought she had gone well beyond her ten in the previous chapter but couldn't tell if it was deliberate or in error. Nice to see that talked about here. She may have been driven mad in her hunger to the point where she may not stop.

Excellent chapter, never would have thought that Justin being honest about his infidelity could result in anything other than his death and instead it might just have save the world.

Really given her personality being in flux almost anything could happen next chapter should she survive, and there's the very real possibility she didn't. Either way looking forward to seeing how this ends.

I rather enjoyed this seeing genuine conflict and remorse rather than 'I'm big so I'll kill you all lolz.' Don't know if you'll continue it but I'd be happy to read more.

A woman becomes engaged to her three-inch-tall beloved, but her staunchly conservative family may be prepared to go to extreme measures to prevent this union.

Missed reviewing on the last few chapters but those were some very surprising turns. At least Britney's hatred came from actual emotional pain, pain that in an actual conversation she was able to reconcile.

Weird thing is Britney and Ian might come out of it with a decent brother/sister in law relationship.

Looks like we're headed for a semi happy ending, though the relationship with the Mother is still very suspect.

Author's Response:

You may be right about Britney and Ian. Unfortunately, there may not be enough Christmas magic to turn the mother in this story.

Author's Response:

Hey now, I'd say at least a 3/4 happy ending.

I like the take on the family, not the usual obviously abusive, but clearly cold and unloving. Kicked him out the second it was legal to do so. Hope Lucy kicks their asses.

Author's Response:

Thanks for reviewing. This family is meant to represent a common mindset of mixed families in the Omega world; even if they don't physically abuse their Beta, there's still a lot of problems.
