I feel bad for Greg but yeah taking a grand in cash out of the bank at night is stupid in the real world much less a world where just about everyone has super powers. He’s lucky he’s not dead. Though I wonder how Ramona’s going to react to her boyfriend being assaulted, especially if she finds out he got assaulted trying to buy her something.

Author's Response:

Poorly. She will react very VERY poorly......be afraid.

Ramona's quite scary when she wants to be. :o

Heh while I enjoyed the bit of sibling drama probably the best part was just how oblvious both Ramona and Mary were when discussing their significant others. The fact that Ramona even considered Greg was bored of her was hilarious, and Mary's revelation makes me look forward to the next time Emily interact.

I felt it was a nice trade off between the bits lost and the bits added in this new part.

The ending does pile on Dave but it is realistic, hopefully it doesn't get much worse for him.

Author's Response:

I'm still on the fence about the new chapter. As far as Dave...well we can only hope.

3 mostly because Tyler's surrounded by enough 2s already.

I’m in a weird place where I kind of felt bad for Sheila. While her methods were deplorable, it was fairly obvious she liked Tyler and her goal was protecting him albeit in a perverse way. It's clear she isn't done yet though so maybe that emotion is more than like.

It'll be interesting to see was Rain can do. Aside from being tall and glowy she's a blank slate.

Author's Response:

Yeah people are hardly ever black and white. That being said Sheila is still a smug self absorbed class 2 with a mean streek in her whose not used to being denied what she wants sooo...(I wish there was a shoulder shrug emoticon)

Really enjoying the series so far. The different interactions between various couples and family has been quite interesting. Looking forward for more.

Ah was confused by the Erica/Emily thing until I read the comments, I see it's been edited since I read it too. Really loving the many new characters and the connections between them. I think the only isolated characters so far are Greg and Ramona.

On Mary being more open I believe lack of sleep and a very scary brother might have a hand in that.

Author's Response:

Ramona from chapter 2 is the little sister Mary had considered calling in chapter 3 so there's a bit of a connection there as well. As for the Erica/Emily thing let's all pretend that didn't happen. And if your the type of person who says NO! Erica now exists for the few hours she was in the story i as the author decree that Erica is just Emily in a parrallel universe where everything is exactly the same as this one except that her name is Erica and on that very day she went and got it legally changed to Emily. Now everything's solved. :)

Summary:

The story of After Shrink High continues. Hope seems to have been all but lost with the ending of Act 1.

But there are still those who fight the Society's corruption. Outside Atlanta, men and women struggle to survive in the new shrunken world all while fighting against the titanic giantesses of the Society. The shrunken world is a harsh place, but such a cruel world may just temper the only hope of stopping the Society.

Act 2 assumes you have read Act 1 so make sure to read it first.

Brutal opening but it does go a ways to establish the Resistance as a threat, important since they often looked helpless against sword/shield in the first act. Still no sight of Saunders (dead or alive) which is probably the best way to keep us hooked.  I will admit it will be a little weird if we’re following a complete new set of protagonists for awhile though.

Author's Response:

Indeed, the Resistance CAN be dangerous and I wanted to make that obvious from the start. They are a threat no matter how dismissive the Society is of them.

As for the new guys, well I hope they grow on you and it doesn't feel too weird to be following them

Liking the new characters now, not sure I would have been had Sanders not returned though. The developments this chapters have me intrigued. Also with the reveal of how Sanders escaped, I'm still not sure what to think of Aviel.

Initially I thought it was all a plan to save his life, no longer sure of that, but not 100% sure about her betrayal either. Guess we'll see down the road.

Now the question is will Darius believe any of this?

So hard to get a good read on Lutice which makes her such a facinating character. Next chapter should be a doozy.

Author's Response:

I will admit, Lutice is one of my more favorite characters. Still not my favorite though, and who it is will remain a mystery for now.

Can't say I was expecting that! Wow Lutice is fully off her rocker though it's hard to say if that happened naturally or if it was caused by something else.

I really hope Sanders isn't relating this part to the resistance, because even though I like him, if I heard he threw away a weapon that could possibly turn the tide of this war away for sex I'd put a bullet in his head.

Author's Response:

I...think its safe to assume he doesn't tell Derek and Darius everything. I mean, would YOU tell someone all about that?

Date: March 17 2014 Title: Chapter 2: Explanation

I’m surprised so many people are siding with Ashley on this, I thought there was a very strong implication that she acted without the Beta’s consent.  The entire time she describes the incident, it’s ‘I thought it would be fun for both of us’, ‘I knew he’d like it’, there’s no mention of his thoughts on it aside from a sputtering ‘yes’ after the fact.

Her whole rational behind his interest was pretty weak too. She admits she doesn’t know him that well, and they’ve only talked a few times, yet she takes him looking at her sandals a few times to mean ‘I want to be dropped into your shoe.’ I think Ashley may have been reading too much into those looks of his.

This view is hammered home when Ashley challenges Claire on it. What’s the difference between the two of them? Simple, Claire’s fun was consensual.

Ashley’s defense mirrors the old ‘it’s not my fault they wanted it’ which is a pretty dangerous mindset to have in the real world much less here given the size difference. Not sure if the girls are right or wrong about their methods (that will wait till next chapter) however I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that they’re able to tell the difference between a real incident and an overprotective parent.

On a lighter note Claire’s a bit kinky isn’t she? Footplay, voreplay, and of course ‘sticking him in places.’ Wonder if she’s still with Sean and wonder if he’s an Alpha or Beta. Her mother probably wouldn’t approve of an Alpha, but not sure a Beta could do the things described no matter how gentle she is…then again I didn’t think they could have sex either so what do I know.

Author's Response:

You caught a lot of stuff, and that makes me happy.

And yes, I believe I said it in response to comments to "Work" over in Consequences, but Claire is fun.

Fun fact: Sean was originally going to be introduced in that chapter as Claire's assistant that she mentions. Buuuuut I looked over the sections with the expecting parents and Stephanie's mom and decided that a scene of Claire casually playing with and dominated an Alpha guy contrasted far too much with the mood of those to go through with it.

Kind of in agreement with the chapter notes. Ugh necessary but very hard to read.

Also while I'm one of the few who believes Ashley legitimately did something wrong I think the girls would have been better served going over the report in detail first. So long as she thinks someone just overreacted this might be doing the opposite of its intention.

Author's Response:

Things are likely no being done ideally (or, as ideally as this could have been done) because Melody herself can't bring herself to talk to or even look at Ashley this chapter. So she can't explain to her the lesson she's hoping to impart. But expect that report to be a major thing next chapter, they aren't going to continue doing things without letting her know what the problem is.

Chapter was pretty much what I was expecting given the hints displayed in previous parts.

I think the words actually hit harder for Ashley than the actions, and I take back what I said in a previous review as being made to feel helpless first made the revelation of what she actually did to Jack have greater impact.

On the alternate chapter I wouldn't mind having a look. It's always interesting to see how a story could go.

Oh god what a setup for what’s to come.

I’m very interested, and very scared, to see what Jenna will do. On the one hand I tell myself it can’t be that bad as Melody and Jenna are decidedly still friends going into the future. However at the same time Kayla has flat out said Jenna shouldn’t be in charge of anyone with a chance at redemption. Will that be because of this incident, or just what Jenna has developed into?

I think if this was just a slice of life story people would probably love Jenna, from all accounts she has fine self control of herself outside of dealing with criminals. Because of the nature of this series though we always see her at her absolute worst, here’s hoping for a swerve and it’s not too traumatic…

As others have said now that the pattern has been set there’s room for timeskips and maybe an epilogue on their progress (or lack thereof ) Really so long as we’re not left hanging, either through Consequences or another story, i’ll be happy.

Author's Response:

Jenna is consistently interesting to hear opinions on, because I constantly feel that the general response toward her is because I made Naomi TOO sympathetic. Naomi is a sweet, remorseful girl who wants to do the right thing and then Jenna shows up and lays into her verbally as well as physically. It feels like I poisoned Jenna from the start by attaching her largest scene to the nicest girl. And yes, due to her scenes typically involving a criminal or some sort of punishment, it presents the worst aspects of her character.

And thank you for your thoughts.

Jenna so far is living up to my defense of her. She hasn't gone overboard physically and honestly her words are having far more effect.

Honestly it makes sense in that Omegas are given strict classes before they can officially even touch a beta, naturally they would have a sense of how to handle an Alpha as well. But how many Alphas, even well intentioned ones, know how to handle a Beta?

Jenna painted a very interesting picture and one that casts a lasting method. If it goes no further than this, or at least not much further than this it cements Jenna as one of my favorites.

Author's Response:

The way I generally consider it is that handling a Beta itself isn't too hard - treat one like you would an egg, basically. The real issue comes when you want to do more than just hold one in your hand and get really involved with one - hence 'Work' where the Alpha parents sign up for training so they can handle their infant Beta.

That was a little picture I've wanted to do for a while, and I'm glad it piqued your interest. Also glad you're enjoying Jenna.

Took me a moment to realize what Jenna was doing but when I realized it it was brilliant. Playing off of her reputation to infuse Ashley with that crippling sense of dread and anxiety of what 'might' happen. The same feeling that the Beta Ashley hurt no doubt felt as well. Hell, she was so effective it worked on just about all the commenters too!

Jenna really elevated herself in my eyes in this chapter and I can't wait to read the epilogue.

Author's Response:

Jenna Reynolds: Theatre Genius.

This one was honestly a treat to write. It was...pleasant, to portray a softer, more affectionate Jenna.
