“What did you just say?” asked Terra as she stared down at Icarus.

Feeling the object in the back of her mind grow a little stronger, Terra noticed Icarus looking around the room.

Who is she talking to?

Noticing the sound coming from the object in the back of her mind, Terra decided to try and examine it. Closing her eyes and focusing, Terra found the weird object to be in the shape of a sphere. Slowly reaching out, she could feel pleasant warmth radiating from it. Deciding to examine it further, Terra slightly touched the outside, but one her hand made contact, she felt the sphere jerk away. Not wanting this object to get away Terra grasped it in both hands tightly. Feeling it fight back, Terra tightened her grip as she could continue to examine the sphere.

Who are you? Came a panicked reply.

Terra and who or what are you? Thought Terra.

I said who are you!?

I told you my name is Terra. She replied, trying to send her thoughts to the sphere.

Answer me! Let me go! Screamed the orb as it shook violently.

Realizing that it could only communicate one way, Terra noticed a small opening in the sphere. Far too small to see through, Terra decided to try and pry open the sphere further. As she tried to apply more force, Terra noticed that a sharp feeling of pain was coming from the orb. Digger her fingers in deeper, Terra continued as pieces of the orb were beginning to give. Terra then heard a labored reply.

Please stop…

It was at this time that Terra opened her eyes and felt a struggle on her lap. Looking down, Terra noticed that Icarus was struggling with something. Letting go of the sphere, Terra noticed that Icarus stopped he struggle but remained tense. Gently wiping the newly formed sweat from Icarus’ head, Terra came upon the fact that in some way, the orb in her mind was a part of Icarus. Some time passed as Terra thought over her new discovery.

Where are you?

“I’m right her Icarus.” replied Terra.

Feeling him tense up, Terra gently patted his head. After a little bit of time had passed, Terra was starting to feel anxious until Icarus spoke again.

How long have you been able to hear me, Master?

“Not until you woke up just now.” said Terra.

“I’m also sorry about earlier. I was just curious as to what was in my head?”

That was you, Master?

“Yeah, it seems that we are somehow connected. Also why are you calling me master for?” asked Terra.

Because I’m your property now.

“Hmm, my first and only rule is that you will not call me master. From now on we will be equals. Is that okay by you Icarus?” asked Terra.

Yes, Terra. So what are you going to do now?

Before Terra could answer, a loud grumble echoed around the room. Locking down Terra saw that Icarus’ cheeks started to darken.

“First I’m going to get you something to eat.” Replied Terra.

Reaching down into her pocket, Terra removed the roll of leaf bread from earlier that morning. Peeling off a small layer, Terra handed the piece to Icarus. Deciding that she wanted some answers, Terra began to ask questions while Icarus ate.

“Now that we can communicate, what are you Icarus?”

I don’t really know myself. I really don’t have any memories past nine years ago, since I came to Windhook. I haven’t changed at all; instead I’m stuck in a small weak body as everyone around me grows up.

“But you’re not weak at all Icarus.” said Terra.

Only you believe that, I’m reminded every day about what people think of me.

“Then do you hate the villagers that despise you?” asked Terra.

Apparently you didn’t believe Master Atticus. I remember when everyone in the town was happy. It was because I drank the last elixir that lives that could have been saved weren’t. I tolerate their hatred because of my own helplessness to have saved anybody. I just want the village to be happy again.

“You can’t really blame yourself for something that was out of your control though. Now my next question is why did you save me?” asked Terra.

Why wouldn’t I, you were in trouble so I needed to help you.

“You did it because you think that I’m cute.” said Terra giving Icarus a wink.

Um, not in the beginning but later on I found; what I mean to say is that I um…

Turning dark red, Icarus fumbled out a series of excuses, all to Terra’s amusement.

“Just remember that my offer is still open, all you have to do is ask.” said Terra with a sheepish grin.

Terra was convinced that if it was possible, then Icarus would have turned even redder than he already was. Letting Icarus’ mind go rampant on ways to get out of his situation, Terra decided to get back to business.

“After talking to Atticus, he advised me to take you and visit the city of Regalia. Once you’re back up on your feet of course.” said Terra.

Regalia, where and what is that?

“According to Atticus, it was the capital city of the elves before they disappeared. He believes that we could find answers to what you really are there.” replied Terra.

After a few hours passed by, as Terra and Icarus discussed details on how they would get to the great city, they would leave in a few weeks. After Icarus could walk without difficulty on his own again. In the meantime, it would be best to study maps, and plan their traveling routes towards Regalia. The only question left would be if they were ready for what they might find out once they got there.
