Author's Chapter Notes:
Never realized how much work it takes in order to create a history to a world. Creating systems of government, names of people and fractions, ect. What I've written here is just a small portion of what has happened. I'm sorry for the late update, but I had to write a history that I was satisfied with. Hopefully this fills in some of the gaps about the history of this place.
Let me tell you what really happened in the past. Around five hundred years ago, the elves left the Great Forest to interact with the other races for the first time. Through our involvement, we learned a great deal from the elves. With the help of the elves, humanity prospered. Wars that would have happened were stopped, because of the intervention of the elves. Plagues were treated and famine was prevented. Our country knew about true peace for three hundred years. That was until the Great War.

The elves were ruled by two kings, Gabriel and Gideon. Together, they were the ones who decided that the elves should join the other races. While Gabriel believed in learning from other beings and creating bonds, Gideon believed that the elves were the superior race. It wasn’t until discussions became heated, that the brothers decided to separate. Elves that believed in Gabriel became known as the Lux Aeterna. Those that followed Gideon called themselves the Nox Interminatis. This only gave the world a brief peace.

While the Lux Aeterna stayed with the other races, the Nox Interminatis returned back to the forest. Unknown to Gabriel, Gideon had a more insidious agenda. In secret, Gideon had delved deep into the history of the elves, and with the help of others had uncovered dark secrets. Gideon had found the ancient beginning of dark magic. Spending a decade in seclusion, the Nox Interminatis returned, but this time prepared for war. One by one, the cities of man fell. With the help of black magic, Gideon had created an army consisting of the undead and the damned.

Seeing no alternatives, Gabriel created an alliance with the four other races. With the help of the humans, dwarves, giants, and the fairies, the elves fought against Gideon’s forces. Even with their combined might, the alliance was only able to bring the war to a stale mate. After five years, Gabriel knew that there was no way to win the war. Seeking the help from the ancient elven inventor Daedalus, Gabriel pleaded on the behalf of the other races. Using his vast knowledge, and the essence of the five races, Daedalus created the five sacred treasures. The sword Soladius, the shield Aegis, The helm Visleam, the cape Harpianula, and the boots Calcibus.

After he acquired the sacred treasures, Gabriel bestowed these gifts upon his son the crowned prince Exia. Amassing the largest part of the alliance, Gabriel set a desperate assault towards the Great Forest. This prompted Gideon to assault this force in order to finally crush the alliance.

The alliance’s only goal was to distract Gideon’s forces long enough for Exia to reach Gideon. After hours of fighting a perilous battle, Gideon’s army began to falter. Sensing the waning of Gideon’s dark magic, Gabriel rushed the remaining forces forward. After arriving hours later, the alliance was met with the remains of Gideon’s fortress. Inside the rubble fought Gideon and the prince Exia. Seeing that victory was lost, Gideon casted one final piece of black magic. After the spell was activated, elves across the world collapsed to the ground in excruciating pain. While in the mist of casting another spell, Exia was able to get up and stab Gideon through the heart with Soladius. Disrupting the spell, massive amounts of dark magic started to swirl to the area. Enveloping Gideon in dense magic, Exia could sense that it was going to be released. Using the last of his strength he encased both himself and Gideon inside of the Aegis.

Moments after the blast occurred, the Aegis dissipated leaving Exia falling to the ground. Rushing to his son, Gabriel found Exia in the rubble. Despite still being alive, the dark magic had enveloped his body. Racking back and forth, Exia’s mind was continuously being torn apart, just for the magic to reform it. Not being able to dispel the magic, Gabriel was forced to end his son’s life. Unfortunately, while he could be injured, the dark magic refused to let its host die. Not finding any other alternatives, Gabriel brought his son back to Daedalus. Not being able to separate Exia from the dark magic, Daedalus built a container to store Exia inside. This container left the prince in a sleepless state, waiting till the day that he could be cured.

After the Great War had ended, Gabriel gifted one of the sacred treasures to each of the five races. Though many had lost precious things during the war, the elves had lost the most. Not only had they lost half of their race and the crowned prince, the magic that had attacked them left the elves barren. Losing the ability to reproduce, the elves fell into despair. After years of grief, the elves came to the conclusion that they should make the most of their time. Spreading across the country, the elves decided to help the other races rebuild what had been destroyed.

Very few people know the truth of what happened two hundred years ago. Most believed that it was a regular war against some blood thirsty demons. They were released by the dark wizard Gideon. They believe that the elves practiced celibacy in order to atone for the sins of their race. It’s sad that they do not know what the elves’ lost during that war. I myself only learned of this in my youth, but was bound to secrecy.

Now, I will tell you about what happened nine years ago. On that day, elves around the world disappeared without a trace. It came so fast that many questions were left behind. On that same day, a boy was found on the outskirts of our village. Bringing the boy back to my mansion, I examined him myself. What we first assumed was a child turned out to be a young adult. This wasn’t what surprised us though. What surprised us was the fact that this boy had traits similar to the elves. Within minutes the boy awoke only to go into seizures. Seeing that his lie was slipping away, I called for Phillip to bring me something to stop this. Using the last of his magical elixir, the boy finally stopped his convolutions.

Trying to learn from the boy, we came upon the realization that he had no idea who or what he was. He was incapable of speech, but he understood every word we spoke to him. We also learned that unlike the elves, Icarus had no magical powers whatsoever. Unfortunately, not even a month later, the town was hit by a plague. Without the ability to use magic, and having drunk the last elixir, much of the town perished before Icarus. Becoming enraged, it took all of my power in order to stop the angry mob from killing Icarus. I didn’t have the power, however, to save Icarus from the law. Having used the last elixir, Icarus was indebted to Phillip. Being forced into servitude, Icarus has served Phillip since that day. Though he is hated by the village for what he is, Icarus has no resentment for those around him. Though he doesn’t hate those around him, Icarus is afraid and untrusting of those around him. That is why I was surprised when I learned that he had saved and fallen in love with some girl he found in the forest. Especially since it was someone that towered over Icarus so easily.

Blushing slightly, Terra had a question burning in her mind. “If Icarus can’t speak, then how did you find out his name?”

“I was hoping that you would ask. When we found him, the only thing that was on him was his ragged clothing along with a letter and this.” said Atticus.

Reaching into his robe Atticus pulled out a golden necklace that he handed over to Terra.

“The letter was in elvish which roughly translated to ‘Give this to her who will complete him’. This stumped me for years until I met you Terra.” said Atticus with a smile.

Examining the chain in her hands, Terra took in the story that she had just heard. Wondering what exactly he was, Terra noticed a bar a little longer than the rest. Twisting it up to the light, Terra focused on the single word inscribed on the necklace. In dark black letters read the word ‘ICARUS’.
