Author's Chapter Notes:

So she went to sit down with the doctor to try and make sense of her mind. But she never knew of
the sense that the doctor would find.

Clara gave little regard to the frightened tiny creatures she'd saved. She stuffed them in her pockets,
left and right, and jumped on her bike. She rode quickly.
The cool wind on her skin helped her calm down a bit. What a weird man. What had been the
meaning of the pillow in his lap? Did he just make himself comfortable or did he hide want to hide
something? Clara didn't want to think about it.
She had thought to have gotten rid of the urge to be violent towards the little people. It had been a
mistake talking to him about it. It had felt so embarassing and crushing the little girl had felt so
good, had made her feel so powerfull. At least she'd been able to save two of them but would they
survive her for long? She wouldn't know.
Clara decided to talk to Vanessa about it later. Talking to a friend would be less embarassing and
hopefully less...weird. Vanessa allways understood her. When Clara needed help and support
Vanessa was allways there.
When she arrived Clara saw Vanessa's bike allready parked on the patio. Finally, something else to
think about, somebody else to talk to.
After Clara entered the kitchen Vanessa smilled at her. "Heyyyy.", they greeted each other and
hugged. Vanessa had helped herself to some noodles and sauce.
Vanessa was a little bit taller than Clara. She was a beautiful girl with green eyes and a cute snub
nosed face. Her brown hair was bound to a pony tail with some wisps playfully hanging out here
and there. She wore grey jeans and an anthracite 'the who' T-shirt. For shoes she had worn out red
Chuck's.
"So, what was that urgent business of yours that was so important?", Vanessa asked. "Umm, a
doctor's appointment that I had totally forgotten about.", Clara lied. "You are so not going to believe
what I saw when I got here.", Vanessa changed the subject. Clara looked perplexed. "I saw your
note and I was hungry so I went into the kitchen to get me some of your famous pasta and guess
what I saw.", Vanessa held her hand above the table and stretched out her palm. Lea was sitting in it.
She wore her clothes again.
"I swear this little bitch was feasting on your noodles while you where gone.", Vanessa's tone was
reproachful. Lea looked scared. "It's the first time I see one of these mouse people, gosh they are
freaky!", Vanessa went on, "So I caught her and really didn't know what to do. I went outside
to...you know...dispose of her and she keeps talking to me. She says how she knows you and you
are her friend. I mean I'm talking to a rodent that looks like a little human being and I am talking to
her! How weird is that?"
Clara couldn't help but smile. "It's true, she is my friend, so to speak.", Clara explained, "She's the
first one I caught and...yeah." "Phew, I almost flattened your little friend, you know that?", Vanessa
didn't look as concerned as she sounded, "But I wanted to find out if she really speaks the truth. I
thought she was just a varmint."
"We're lucky you didnt.", Clara laughed and Vanessa sat Lea down on the table. The little girl shook
with fear. Clara sat down at the table and put some food on a plate. Lea came running to her and
hugged her arm. "Gee, you really must have scared her alot.", Clara said. "Sorry little one.",
Vanessa bend over the table looming above the tiny girl, "You think she hates me know or
something?"
"I've been bad to her aswell, she's not very vindictive.", Clara petted Lea's head. Vanessa kept
looking at the tiny girl. "Gosh she is cute.", Vanessa mused. "There are quite many of them in this
house.", Clara said with a full mouth, "Maybe you will find yourself a little friend aswell." They
both laughed. Lea didn't. "Oh, by the way", Clara reached into her pockets, "I, uh, found these on
the way." She put the blond guy and the red head on the table.
"Awww, they are naked.", Vanessa smiled, "I can see this ones dick! So tiny!" She laughed girllishly
about it. "Come here", Vanessa comanded pointing right infront of her. The little things obeyed
quickly. Vanessa gasped: "They understand me! That's so cool. Why so scared little people?"
"They've been through a lot and...I mean look at you, compared to them you are a freaking giant!",
Clara explained.
"Aww", Vanessa cooed, "Don't worry little ones I ain't gonna hurt ya!"
"Can they talk too?", Vanessa wanted to know. "I, uh, I don't know.", Clara had to admit and both
girls stared at the tiny people to say something. Scared they looked from one giant face to the other.
Trembling the blonde boy opened his mouth: "L-l-let us go p-please?"
Vanessa burst into laughter. "L-l-l-l-let us g-go p-p-please?", she mocked him, "Well, no? And what
now huh?" She smiled at hm from above. Clara sighed: "If you want them to talk to you you can't
scare them like that." "Well, how about this.", Vanessa suggested, "You talk to me or I...sit on you
for a while." The little people boggled slowly. "Vanessa, that's mean.", Clara said displeased, "And
you can't sit on them for a while, they'd die."
"So?", Vanessa asked with a playfull grin. "Vanessa.", Clara cautioned her friend, "You're not going
to hurt them. period."
"You are such a drag!", Vanessa smiled, "I wasn't going to do anything, I'm just teasing you know."
With a sigh she continued: "I mean look at them. They are mice, genetically, but it totally feels like
we've got tiny people here. They talk, they feel, they...everything! It is totally intriguing to see how
they react and stuff. I mean I just never...had so much power over somebody - something - what
ever."
Clara understood. "Let's go outside, I'd like to talk to you. Alone.", she said. Vanessa looked at her
baffled: "Well, uh, sure, why not?" They left the tiny people to themselves on the kitchen table.
On the patio Clara turned to her friend. "I'm feeling totally weird, okay!", Clara shouted into
Vanessa's face, "You know, that doctor's appointment? I was at the head-shrinker's! I've had these
little shits since yesterday and I allready killed like 5 of them today and I really think I'm going
nuts!"
Vanessa stared back, completely taken off guard. "Have you ever killed a mouse for pleasure?",
Clara went on, "No! And neither have I. Something totally weird is going on with me. I was just so
far that I felt sorry for them and that I was going to harm them no more but that freaking perv quack
tells me it's allright and he makes me kill another one but I manage to save two and now you come
along and talk about sitting on them!" Clara stared sobbing.
"Heyyy", Vanessa embraced her friend, "Shhh, it's allright. I'm sorry. I'll stop, okay? This is new to
me aswell." After a few minutes Clara disentagled herself from the embrace. She smiled at Vanessa.
"Wait here", Clara told her. She ran inside, took the white whine Vanessa had put on the table and
two glasses. Lea and the two new mouse people where standing by Clara's plate and shyly nibbled
on the noodles.
Clara took the corkscrew from the shelf and went back outside. Vanessa laughed when they clinked
glasses: "Oh dear term break, why can't you last forever?" "Let's screw studying and become full
time alcoholics.", Clara smiled back. "Hey, you can be a teacher and have a drinking problem! I
can't do that, drunk engineers lead to collapsing bridges.", Vanessa retorted. She studied engineering
physics, like Jasper, Clara however was going to become a teacher for language and history.
"Do you remember Mrs. Schulz from school?", Vanessa asked. "Yeah", Clara replied, "The
infamous 'Misses Brandy Breath'. Cheers!" After a few sips there was a silenece.
"What did you mean 'kill them'?", Vanessa suddenly spoke again. "Huh?", Clara at her looked
quizzically. "You said you killed like 5 of them today.", Vanessa reamed the question. Clara looked
down at their feet before she spoke: "Look down there. That's one of them." They were sitting on
the table on the patio, a red smear of flesh and bones by their feet.
Vanessa looked down and gasped: "Gosh! Clara, what did you do?" "There are two more on the
lawn.", Clara pointed to the general direction, "Another one I trampled in the bath tub and one I had
to kill at the doctor's to save the two that I brought."
Vanessa raised an eyebrow: "Is it that much fun?" "No!", Clara sighed, "Well, yeah, initially yes but
I feel horrible afterwards." "Why?", Vanessa asked honestly, "I mean, it's just mice right?"
"It isn't right to do this kind of thing to a mouse either!", Clara was getting a little angry, mostly at
herself, "I know many people do it because they are pests and all but they don't do it for fun, do
they?" "Umm", Vanessa finished her glass and held it so that Clara could give her more, "I guess
not but it's not such a big deal? If you like killing little peeps, I mean, so be it! It's not like they
mean something."
"What the fuck did they do to you in that university?", Clara was indignant with her friend. Vanessa
had once been a vegetarian but even after picking up meat again she allways said how she was
disgusted by animal cruelty and what happened at large cattle farms, experiements and what not.
Vanessa shrugged: "I don't know. I guess I'd not like it if you did it to, like, cats or dogs or
something." She frowned before she continued: "But you're right. From that perspective it's totally
wrong. You monster!" She smiled.
Clara rolled her eyes and downed her drink. "Whatever", she said, "I'm not doing it again." Looking
at the garden she realized she'd propably have to do it again, was she to stop the garden tribes
people from taking her crops. "Clara", Vanessa said determined, "Fuck it." "Huh?", Clara was
perplexed. "Fuck it!", Vanessa repeated, "Sometimes you just gotta let go. Remember when we
drank vodka at 15? Or smoking weed for the first time? That's all kinda morally wrong isn't it? You
have to break free from societal chains sometimes."
"But this is different.", Clara countered, "We didn't hurt anybody, or anything, when we did all
that." Vanessa nodded her head. Clara had a point. "You're right.", she said, "But still - Don't forget
what they are. Mice. And if you enjoy trample them I think you shouldn't torture yourself over it.
They're like roadkill." "Roadkill?", Clara looked at her wide eyed. "Yeah", Vanessa said,
"Unfortunate but...you know...meh." They looked at each other and laughed.
"They kinda look like roadkill too.", Clara smiled guiltily, "You know, when I'm done with them."
Vanessa was pouring more whine: "How mean", she snickered, "They're so small and helpless and
of all people they fall into your hands!" "As if they'd live longer with you.", Clara retorted, "You're
the one telling me they're worthless." She took a huge gulp from her glass.
"To be honest I was totally going to flatten your little friend.", Vanessa admitted, "I had so much
power over her. At first I really thought she was just a pest. But then she talked and she pleaded
but...it kinda had the opposite effect. It made me want to dominate her more. I'm curious what it
feels like."
Clara knew these emotions all too well. "No.", She said, "It's wrong and it's not going to happen
under my roof anymore." Vanessa looked disappointed. Clara thought about it for a moment before
she said: "But that doesn't mean we can't have a little fun with them."
Vanessa looked intrigued. "Go inside?", she suggested and Clara winked at her in response. They
finished their drinks simultaneously and went inside.
Clara could allready feel the alcohol do it's work. It couldn't hurt to loosen up a little. At least a
little. After all that confusion...
