The Saku Virus by JinyBlue
Summary:

In late 2020, an extremely contagious disease took the world by storm. Oddly, this disease was not fatal, or damaging to the human body in the slightest—in fact, about 89% of the human population was hardly affected by it.

The problem lied in how it affected the remaining 11%. For some reason, women afflicted by the virus were getting taller... but only those of a specific demographic. Included in this story are several accounts from the select few women affected by the Saku virus, as they adjust to a rapidly changing society.

An Introduction to the Saku Virus by JinyBlue
Author's Notes:

As the title states, this chapter is an informatory report that introduces readers to not only the Saku virus, but how our world has changed as a result of it.

In the latter few months of 2020, a contagious disease began to take the world by storm. It was a disease that left human society as we knew it completely and utterly unable to fight against it. A disease that forever reshaped the structure of civilization.

At a first glance, there is no way that this virus could have had such a strong, irreversible impact on the world. After all, it wasn’t even fatal. In fact, ever since the virus’s inception in October 2020, the deaths reported to be a direct cause of the virus worldwide is exactly zero. The absolute worse health effect that the virus had on its victims was a mild cough, which, for some reason, only lasted for seven days in 99.99% percent of cases. This is the very effect that it had on the vast majority of the population—that is, about 89% of the population.

However, the problem lied in how it affected that remaining 11% of the population.

Effects in this small portion of the population were noticed within the first two weeks of the virus’s outbreak. Unsurprisingly, by far the most frequent accounts arose from Eastern Asia. As per the rest of the world, denizens of countries such as China, the Koreas, Japan, and Taiwan were afflicted with the virus, and came down with a mild cough for precisely a week. The men of these countries came out of their sick period in the same way they entered it—with no permanent changes to their physiologies, constitutions, or appearances. However… changes in all of these areas were found in women after they rebounded from their illnesses. And, unsurprisingly, the first to be detected was the change in appearance. While it was difficult at first to discern who exactly this phenomenon was affecting, a consensus was eventually reached among the scientific community and society at large:

For some reason, East Asian females afflicted by the virus were getting taller.

All around the eastern part of the continent, there were reports from husbands detailing that they suddenly had to look up at their wives; records from guardians and caregivers concerned that their daughters were growing too quickly; accounts from teachers that their female students were becoming unruly due to the simple fact that they were now bigger. Communities were at an absolute loss at what to do in face of this phenomenon… but it was manageable—or at least, possible to ignore—for about the first month. This is because it seemed like afflicted females grew at a steady rate of about one inch per week—this uniformity only adding to the strangeness of the virus. This meant that about a month after a woman recovered from the sick period, they were four inches taller than they were before.

Of course, these unnatural growth spurts came to become troubling when they inevitably continued past four inches. Women and girls were beginning outgrowing their clothes. Public structures such as doors and seats were becoming too small for women to fit through or in. And of course, as a result of their increased mass, afflicted women were becoming generally hungrier as it became harder to fill their stomachs. However… these problems were indeed met with solutions. Clothes companies in East Asia began mass producing female garments at an enlarged size, public services were set to be reworked, and food manufacturers altered their practices to begin generating higher quantities of basic goods. But of course, these new actions placed a notable strain on East Asian economies. The process of completely remodeling multiple aspects of society was not a cheap one.

This is when they began to dominate politics. And thus, when they began to dominate society as we know it.

It was the election season of 2021 in Japan, taking place in October as usual. By this time—about nine months after the initial spread of the virus—the average Japanese woman was about 8 feet tall. This year, a marginal amount of women ran for the House of Representatives and House of Councillors, which together comprise the National Diet: the national legislature of Japan. Female voters all around the country, desperate for relief from a too small and insufficient world, were desperate for leaders that would lead them to the light. These female politicians ran on the rhetoric that a woman would be the best option to enact policy and provide for the needs of women suffering alongside her, and that they should all stick together during these perilous, trying times.

However, while most of the female candidates ran on this sympathetic, piteous rhetoric, only one candidate ran on a different policy. Akari Nakazawa, a young woman with no experience in politics prior to that fateful year’s election, promoted the idea that men were now inherently inferior to women, and that they could not provide for the needs of a population that had long since surpassed them. A rather unprofessional candidate, she consistently downplayed, insulted, and ridiculed her male opponents. Of course, this was all verbal, but she routinely invited male opposition to physical altercations and contests, in order to rile up the voter base. None of her opposition ever took her up on these offers… which still did serve to upset insulted male voters, and vindicate female voters. The vast majority of her campaign materials, ranging from posters, pins, and political cartoons made in her support, contained images of women triumphing over smaller men. This propaganda ranged in abstractness and severity; while some contained abstract representations of a female icon simply appearing larger than a male one, some posters and the like featured blatant images of a confidant woman overpowering a man in an arm wrestling match.

Nakazawa’s rhetoric empowered women across the country—even those that couldn’t even vote for her. As opposed to other candidate’s messages, Nakazawa made the growing women feel confident, ensured, and proud of their stronger, and in her words, more “beautiful” statures. After all, she was sure as hell proud, and let the public know it. Of course, these actions and rhetoric of Nakazawa’s did upset voters to a high degree—both men and women alike. However, a controversial candidate made has always made for a popular candidate. Just a week before election day, the 8’10” Nakazawa was undisputedly the most popular candidate, rallying a voter base of a size that was never before seen in Japanese history.

However… she didn’t win a seat in the National Diet. This is because the week before Election Day, Nakazawa was approached by female candidates whose positions in the legislature were already all but won. These candidates implored her to withdraw from the race for the legislature… so they could instead nominate her for prime minister. Nakazawa was immediately compelled, and dropped out of the race just a few days before election day.

On that election day, female representatives took the National Diet by storm, resulting in an overwhelming majority of female members. In an unprecedentedly swift action, these representatives immediately nominated Akari Nakazawa as prime minister—an action which dissenters and the emperor of Japan had no power to decline.

For those who detest the absolute rule that East Asian women have on the world’s politics, the nomination of Nakazawa is often seen as the end of the world as they knew it.

A short time after Nakazawa’s decisive rise to power, what could only be referred to as coups started to spring up in China, Mongolia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, South Korea, and even North Korea. Women in these countries were desperate for reprieve from the numerous problems that now plagued them, and were looking for political action to grant them this. In their desperation, these women did not wait for their respective election seasons to roll by to take action. Greatly inspired by Nakazawa’s messages of empowerment and pride, masses of women simply took government buildings and public facilities by storm, and instated themselves there—whether it be on the national, state, or local level. In these countries, the processes were rather peaceful and non violent—with the standing governments of these nations not fighting back. Notably, the process of picking leaders amongst the women themselves was rather smooth as well, with many communities already having certain women who they had already planned to be leader.

But, this all raises the question: how could these coups be so peaceful? How could these countries simply lie down and roll over while their governments were usurped—especially so for the more authoritarian nations of North Korea and China? To put it simply… if average society was baffled by the peculiarities of this virus, then the scientific community was absolutely dumbfounded.

An increase in height was not the only effect that the virus had on those it infected. The first recorded instance of this second effect was captured in just the second week of the virus’s outbreak. While fooling around with a drunk group of friends on video, a similarly drunk young woman from Hong Kong accidentally stumbled and fell off of a patio. Clearly not in the right mind, the friend who was recording went to the edge of the patio to to continue filming. The fall was a long one—it wouldn’t have killed her, but it should have done lasting damage. There was simply no logical way that a normal person could just walk that fall off.

And yet, the women who fell simply got back to her feet a few seconds after the fall, brushed herself off, and walked back up the patio like nothing happened.

Indeed, the virus greatly strengthened the physical bodies and constitutions of afflicted individuals. Contrary to the early popular belief, it is not like the outer bodies of infected women simply became “harder,” like a protective shell. Indeed, the skin, hair, nails, and other areas of their bodies still felt as soft, sturdy, or flimsy as they should feel on any other human’s body.  No, rather… it was as if these bodies became “tougher.” A blunt impact, a cut, a puncture—all of these types of injuries had to go much deeper into a woman’s body to do them harm. And even then, when these women did feel some sort of pain, it was as if their pain receptors were greatly diluted. Even though this was the case, all other touch receptors in these women’s bodies remained intact—allowing them to still notice, but not feel the pain of a force that would be harmful to any other human.

While this “pain resistance” was of course immediately caught by the public eye, it was truly researched and put to its limit by scientific and military researchers. In East Asian countries—and other countries that will be mentioned at a later time—trials were ran on volunteered afflicted women. In every country, territory, state, etc., these trails were all the same: they inflicted these women with gradually increasing degrees of pain. Or, at least, things that should have been painful.

In one specific research study, it started out with a prick of a needle. No recorded pain was felt as a result of this. A paper cut. No recorded pain. Shampoo applied to one’s eyes. A honeybee sting. A full-force punch from a grown, peak condition male. The slamming of a hammer upon laid out fingers. A bullet ant sting. A forty foot fall. A blow from a shotgun. A lethal shock.

East Asian women subjected to these elements all reported that while they could indeed feel these forces, they felt little to no actual pain. But their own accounts were hardly necessary to tell this. The researchers, professionals, and even the people inflicting the would-be pain could see with their eyes that these women felt no discomfort at all. They observed amazonian women twiddling with their fingers as they were fired at with rifles, yawning as their hands were hammered repeatedly, teens rolling their eyes while strapped to chairs surging with electricity.

That said, the second aspect of the virus that baffled scientists was the age range in which it fully took effect in East Asian. That is, the age range in which these women grew and experienced tougher bodies. Females of any age could simply contract the virus, but it quickly became evident that those between the ages of fifteen and fifty-five were the only ones that were growing. This cutoff was extremely rigid—if a fourteen year old girl contracted the virus and left the one-week sick period, they would not grow as a result of the virus at all. However, as soon as they turned fifteen, they would immediately start growing—whether their fifteenth birthday be a year, month, week, or day after their initial contraction. Inversely, if a fifty-five year old woman was in the midst of growing as a result of the disease and turned fifty-six, their growth would abruptly cease, with no signs of it gradually slowing down in the days prior to their fifty-sixth birthday.

The third and final of the main “peculiarities” of the virus was perhaps the easiest one to explain, but still no less strange. It was very clear that the growth aspect of the virus only presented itself in women on the East Coast of Asia. However… it also affected women of East Asian descent outside of this region. Women of the Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and other diasporas found themselves growing in size alongside their Asian-native counterparts. The countries of the United States, Canada, Brazil, India, Australia, and Russia stood still as their East Asian female population rapidly grew in size.

This phenomenon let researchers know that this growth was not a result of the geographic region of East Asia itself. Rather, it had to be the result of the genetics of East Asian women. Or at least… that’s what the scientific community told themselves. In actuality, even after years of research, they could not discern a single gene that the virus affected. It was still completely unknown how it made the distinction between female or male, and East Asian or any other ethnicity.

To get back to politics… it was some time after Nakazawa’s success in Japan that things began to get ugly in the majority of these aforementioned diasporic nations, with only India following suit with the peaceful coups of its East Asian neighbors.

One could easily blame it on the vastly different cultures of the West compared to the East. For example, one can take a look at the United States. The “might makes right” approach of this country’s government and military, and the far less respectful and honorable livelihoods of women of East Asian descent in this country are clear.

Of course, these two attitudes did not mesh well together when afflicted women of these countries launched their own coups against their national and local governments.

While East Asian governments knew better than to fight back against their nigh-invulnerable insurgents, the more violent natures of Western governments and Western infected women made it difficult for such rationale to shine through. American families watched on in shock as women of East Asian descent stormed government facilities such as the White House—already desperate for reprieve from the problems that plagued them at their larger sizes, but thrusted into action by the rhetoric of Nakazawa. They then watched on in horror as the U.S. army and police force stepped in to defend these facilities… only to be swiftly and humiliatingly defeated by women with their bare hands.

The incident at the White House in particular was part of a campaign that came to be known as “the Liberation of Washington,” in which other major facilities such as the Pentagon were captured. At the White House, the national guard fired upon the by now 9’0” tall women for minutes on end, yelling at him through megaphones and overhead announcers, donned on helicopters, to stop. The insurgents truly didn’t have to fight back—it was clear that the government’s heavy gunfire had absolutely no effect on them. But… maybe they fought back because they found the loud, overlapping voices to be annoying, or because they simply wanted to set a precedent for what was to come. Either way, the East Asian women turned their attention to their assailants, and made sure to deal with them before they formally captured the White House. Physically, even the strongest military general didn’t stand a chance against a woman who he was only chest-high to. Over two hundred personnel were injured—through trampling, being hurled, or just brute kicks and punches… and nine were killed.

After these violent happenings, all important personnel such as the president were evacuated from the White House and surrounding facilities, making it easy for the diasporic East Asian women to estate themselves as the country’s new leaders. Similarly to Japan, America also had an individual who was unanimously agreed upon to lead a shaky, desperate nation. Sophie Young had a similar prideful, self-powering rhetoric as her counterpart Nakazawa—if not more radical and chauvinistic.

During her campaigns, Young brought to the public eye the discrimination she faced as an Asian girl growing up in a predominantly white community. As the only Asian kid in her school and neighborhood, she was subjected to verbal abuse—including but not limited to cruel names, harassment, and outright slurs—exclusion… and even physical violence. She had a scar on the right side of her forehead, underneath her hair, to prove it… it seemed as if the virus did not heal scars that were formed before contracting it. She claims that she gained this scar in high school, from a violent hate crime perpetrated by a group of white male upperclassman—an account that many now-remorseful bystanders back up.

Due to this past of hers, Sophie Young adopted a “strike first” ideology, in which she believed that East Asian women should assert some sort of control over the multitude of more “brutish” demographics, before this overwhelming majority of the population could make their lives hell in return. Of course, this ideology was rooted in supremacist belief.

As a result of this, in the months following President Young’s ascent to power, life became substantially worse for women who weren’t from East Asia or of East Asian descent. It wasn’t that policies, laws, or institutions were put in place to systematically discriminate against those who weren’t East Asian, it was that it was extremely difficult to prosecute and punish East Asian women for harming, assaulting or otherwise negatively impacting the smaller population. It did not help that these enlarged women were replacing individuals in positions such as law enforcement and the judiciary at an alarming rate… meaning that this small group of women had all of the say-so in dealing out punishment for the entire population. Overall, anyone who was not an East Asian female came to be an indisputable second-class citizen.

Of course, the changes that were seen in America could be seen in countries all around the world outside of East Asia. When the aforementioned countries of Canada, Brazil, India, Australia, and Russia were overtaken by their East Asian female population, the rest of their demographics experienced the same second-class citizenship as most of the United States.

However, it was halfway through 2022 that the world truly began to change for those outside of these countries. In July of this year, a conference was held in Pyongyang, in what was now just Korea. This is because just a few months prior to this conference, an extremely short bout of diplomacy had united the North and South divisions of the Korean Peninsula. After all, the divide between the countries had been brought about through the actions of men—a fact that the new female leaders of Korea acknowledged and sought to undo.

This July conference was held in Pyongyang to reflect this brand new, bright future which would be brought about by the new leadership. At this conference, top representatives from Japan, China, Korea, Mongolia, and the newly independent Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau, as well as the United States, Canada, Brazil, India, Australia, and Russia met up to discuss one simple thing: Their land claims on the rest of the world.

Japan, now referred to once more as the Empire of Japan, laid claim to the entirety of Southeast Asia, New Zealand, the rest of Oceania, and any other islands left in the Pacific Ocean, save for Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii.

China received most of Central and South Asia, save for India and many of its neighbors. This provided China with countries such as Bhutan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and notably, Afghanistan. Additionally, China laid claim to the entire continent of Africa, as this country has been the continent’s largest trading partner for years.

Similarly, due to the fact that the European Union was one of Korea’s most important and essential trade partners, this country laid claim to the entirety of the continent. Everything from Portugal to the West, to Ukraine and Finland to the East, belonged to the tiny peninsula, as well as the islands of the United Kingdom, Ireland, Iceland, and Greenland, which was part of the Kingdom of Denmark.

The United States received the Middle East, from Turkey to Iran, for similar economic reasons. Additionally, it acquired Mexico, all of the Caribbean, and all islands in the Northern Atlantic.

It was Brazil that claimed all of Central America and the rest of South America, along with any islands in the Southern Atlantic.

Healing from the harmful effects of Partition under wise East Asian leadership, India reunified with Pakistan, and also absorbed Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh.

In a move that didn’t surprise many at all, Australia obtained its neighbor New Zealand, with which they shared a rich history.

Only the countries of Mongolia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and Russia did not make new claims on land—either content with the land they already had, or not ready or willing to waste resources to colonize other parts of the world.

That is precisely what this was: colonization. East Asian women, who now took up every military position in the colonizing countries, entered their target territories by force and without warning. After seeing the violent display in the United States… the vast majority of countries surrendered peacefully and agreed to come under the rule of whatever country sought to subjugate them. As for those countries that did not surrender peacefully…

Nonetheless, by the time that October 2022 rolled by, there were only thirteen countries on planet Earth: the aforementioned China, Korea, Mongolia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau, as well as the United States, Canada, Brazil, India, Australia, Russia, and the Empire of Japan.

Coincidentally, this was two years after the virus first emerged, and two years after it got its name.

Named after the Japanese word for “bloom,” due to the fact that this was the first country to undergo major upheavals due to the affliction, this virus that caused East Asian women to grow to an average height of 12 feet came to be known as the Saku virus, or as it’s sometimes known, just Saku.

Chapter 1 - Jiny and Michelle by JinyBlue
Author's Notes:

As stated in its bio, this story will feature several accounts from women affected by the Saku virus, all of vastly different backgrounds, personalities, and statures. Some of these characters will be recurring, as well. This chapter introduces us to Jiny and Michelle—as such, the chapter is titled accordingly. This is a naming convention that will persist throughout the rest of the story.

“Hahah, yeah… what was her actress’ name again?”

Melissa and the other attendees at the long restaurant table all turned their heads to the source of this comment, as if the person who had asked it suddenly grew a second head.

Although, a second head wouldn’t have been the only way this particular woman stuck out from the crowd like a sore thumb.

“Girl, you mean that you don’t remember who plays the Baroness?” Melissa looked up at the woman seated next to her in mock disbelief. Her eyes went wide as a smile formed on her face.

“I mean, I’ve heard of her, but…”

“Huh?! What do you mean just heard of? I mean, every real The Baroness fan knows her actress’ name!” Melissa continued to press her target. “Oh my gosh, wait… do you even actually watch The Baroness, Jiny?”

An uproar arose from the table, at which which Jiny and her five coworkers present were seated. A chorus of “No way’s!” and “Is that true, Jiny’s?!” and “You can’t be serious’!”

Of course, Jiny was quickly overwhelmed by the insistent prying from her coworkers. She had come along with them for a regular after-work dinner that the young women often often went to. Or, at least, everyone except for Jiny often went to them. This was actually the very first time she went out for such an outing with her coworkers—she had turned them down every time they offered ever since she started working at their small office job, but today, Melissa absolutely insisted that she come along with them. She was persistent throughout the day up to the point of it being straight up annoying—it was simply easier on Jiny to accept her invitation than have to deal with that for another day.

“Well, I mean, girls,” Melissa turned to the other four young women sitting at the long table. “I guess we can’t expect Jiny to watch our shows, right? I bet they just seem, beneath her, y’know?”

Jiny’s eyes widened for just the tiniest, unnoticeable amount as Melissa’s words registered with her. However, that was just on the outside. But on the inside…

Why would she say that? What the hell was that supposed to mean?

But of course, Jiny knew exactly what Melissa meant by that unexpected snide remark. She could see the intent in her eyes, as she looked far, far down at her face.

It was currently September 2023, almost three years since the Saku virus took the world by storm, and completely remodeled society. Jiny Park, aged 19, was born, raised, and lived her entire life in Michigan, America… but she is of Korean descent. As such, she was among those who’s body underwent changes as a result of the virus all those years ago.

Jiny’s face certainly reflected her Asian ancestry. Her almond-shaped eyes were of a deep, dark brown, and were situated on a face that was rather round. However, it showed few signs of fat, this round shape instead being the result of natural genetics. Her lips were notably fuller and more plump than the standard Asian female’s, but nothing too over-exaggerated. She skin tone was that of light, cooled Frappuccino, contrasting with her dark brown hair, the shade of dark chocolate. This hair was fashioned into a wavy, center-part bob. This wavy, bob fell down to the bottom of her neck, and was rounded near the bottom. Furthermore, her haircut’s center part exposed quite a large amount of her forehead. This forehead was often the subject of lighthearted teasing amongst her old friends years ago, back when times were simpler.

Right now, she was currently wearing a formal white button-up, black slacks, and dress-shoes of a similar black color—her typical wardrobe for work, from which she had just gotten off. This white shirt of hers was tucked into these pants.

Of course, it was not these features of Jiny’s that were transformed as a result of the Saku virus. Prior to her catching the virus, she was a mere 5’0”, rather normal for a woman of Korean ancestry. However, after her growth concluded, months after she originally contracted Saku… she ended up at 9’5”. This placed her far below the average height of affected women, which was about 12’2”. This meant that on average, Jiny would only come up to a  fellow Asian female’s upper chest…

But, of course, this still placed her leaps and bounds over other humans. And, of course, Jiny didn’t ask to be for nor appreciate this at all.

“It’s not that it’s beneath me, I just…” Out of the blue, Jiny immediately shut up. An empty expression glazed over her face as she did so. It seemed as if she just… shut off. However, one truly couldn’t blame her—it was clear that nothing she could have said would have swayed the opinions of the girls around her.

“So… what kind of things do you watch?” Melissa placed her head in her hands and her elbow on the table. “I’m sure you people like you have more refined tastes, after all.”

The four other women at the table all snickered as Jiny simply stared down at them, each woman only level with her chest. So… that’s why Melissa had been so insistent on bringing Jiny along with her and her posse. She had attended to deprecate her along with her friends this entire time.

Of course, this wasn’t an rare occurrence at all, which is why Jiny immediately recognized what was happening. Normal size people—such as Melissa and her posse, who were all white—rather commonly detested Asian women affected by the Saku virus. And it’s not hard at all to imagine why. Many find it hard not to have a degree of contempt towards a demographic that has turned them into second class citizens… mirroring the debatably justified feelings certain marginalized groups felt towards their oppressors in times before the outbreak of the virus.

Jiny didn’t respond to Melissa’s antagonizing question, but was now beginning to react to the situation. As she remained looking straight forward, she began to fidget with her hands, and her forehead began to sweat. I mean, it wasn’t hard for her to discern why her coworkers may have attacked her like this. But still… why her? They’re coworkers! She earned the job on her own merits—which was becoming a rarer sight among Asian women—and she wasn’t even that tall, at least not compared to other women affected by the virus. She was probably the Saku-affected young woman who had committed the least amount of offenses, then why… then why…

What the fuck is your problem, you bitches?! You just fucking wish you were me, you jealous fucking nobodies! It’s not my fault that I’m better than you! Go to hell! Die!

With a blank expression, Jiny slowly lifted her hands from her lap, raising them to push her chair away from the table. She was determined to leave the second those thoughts flooded into her head. However, before she push away, she heard the sliding sound of the old restaurant’s door opening up, and the ringing bells that accompanied it.

However, this isn’t what halted Jiny’s movement. It was the tremor that was sent through the floor as soon as this door opened.

This tremor wasn’t alone, either. Another one identical to it came right after, and another one right after that. This rhythmic procession… were these footsteps? Jiny was too stunned to turn in her seat to see for herself, but was soon presented an answer nonetheless.

Jiny’s breath caught as a leg seemingly crashed down right next to her. Or rather, just a shin. While Jiny was seated… her head was a few inches below this leg’s knee. No, this person’s knee. While Jiny found it hard to imagine that this calf that was just about 3/4ths as thick as her entire body belonged to a person, it became more and more of a reality as the person of interest continued to walk along the length of the table. And almost immediately, Jiny knew that this person had to be an Asian woman affected by the Saku virus. This woman to take up less of Jiny’s vision as she walked past her, but at the same time, seemed to take up more of her vision as her full body entered her view.

As Jiny titled her head up—cautiously, as if she could be attacked at any moment—she was greeted with a back view of this mystery woman. From here, she could tell that she was dressed in business casual attire, as if she were a woman who came to this small restaurant just after work. She was wearing basic white flats, which were not coupled with any socks. As for leg wear, she donned high-waisted blue jeans, that rose up to around her torso. These jeans were loose fitting around the calves, as they slightly flared out at the woman’s ankles. However, they were tighter around the woman’s thighs and rear, due to the fact that the woman notably wasn’t lacking in these two areas. Even from view point, it was easy for Jiny to tell that this woman’s rear jutted some ways out from the rest of her body, only slightly pronounced by her jeans. Furthermore, had thick thighs that pushed against the fabric of this leg wear. She didn’t have an extremely exaggerated hourglass figure, but the proportional length of her legs, coupled with her rather wide hips, gave her a figure that many would call “slim-thick.”

Due to her size, of course, this meant that just one of this woman’s thighs was wider than Jiny’s entire body.

As Jiny’s eyes travelled up, she was met with the woman’s upper body. Tucked into her high-waisted jeans, was a large and loose white shirt. Flaring up from the places where it was tucked in, Jiny could tell that it was a button-up shirt, though she couldn’t see them from her back view. The shirt was short-sleeved, cutting off just before the woman’s elbows and giving way to her arms. This woman’s skin was just a few shades darker than Jiny’s—a tone that was still discernibly East Asian. It seemed as if this slightly darker tone was a simple tan due to an healthy exposure to sunlight. This woman’s practical outfit certainly did indicate that she got out. Lastly, Jiny couldn’t see the woman’s face, but she could see that she had almost pitch-black hair—far darker than Jiny’s. Notably, the top of the woman’s head was literally scraping against the top of the small restaurant’s ceiling… even though it seemed as if her neck was slightly craned forward. Jiny had no idea how tall exactly the restaurant’s ceilings were… but this the first time she had ever seen a Saku-affected woman struggle to fit in a place that had been expressly remodeled to fit the average affected individual.

Though Jiny had no way of knowing this for sure, the woman was 22’8”, over ten feet over the average for a Saku-infected woman.

The mystery woman appeared to be walking directly towards the restaurant’s bar area. How she intended to sit down at said bar, though, Jiny had no idea. The multiple seats at the bar were group by their different sizes: three of the seats were small enough to suit people unaffected by the Saku virus, three were designed for smaller Saku-affected women—such as Jiny—and three were designed for the common upper size range of affected women. However, in most cases, the largest these women got was around 15 feet, meaning that these seats were designed with 15 feet women in mind. This mystery woman… she was a complete and utter outlier! One of the restaurant’s largest seats was a notable distance below her knee. She would have squat almost all the ways down to the ground to rest her rear on it… which Jiny could tell wouldn’t go over well if she placed her full weight onto it.

However, as if this mystery woman read Jiny’s thoughts, she simply sat to the side of the bar, electing to sit on the floor instead, seemingly in a criss-cross applesauce style. Even still, the top bar only rose halfway up her chest, now that she was now seated flat on the ground. Notably for Jiny and the other girls at the table who were currently staring at this woman, the bar was perpendicular to their own long table. This meant that they were now presented with a frontal view of the woman who had captivated their attention.

This woman… actually appeared to be the same age as Jiny, their faces displaying similar youthful qualities. Though her skin, was slightly darker than Jiny’s, her eyes were lighter, being of a soft, hazel color. These eyes of hers were notably more narrow and sharper than Jiny’s—while Jiny’s eyes could be described as almond-shaped, this woman’s were more cat-like. Her face shape was exceptionally angular, having a sharp jaw and somewhat strong chin while still managing to maintain the face of a young woman around 19 years of age. This gave her head a slight “square” appearance from the front. Overall, the mystery woman’s face took on a more “intense” appearance than Jiny’s.

The intense face of this woman was framed by hair that was fashioned in a center part, though it was slightly different from Jiny’s. This woman’s center part revealed a slightly smaller amount of forehead, but notably, multiple lose strands of hair fell down onto this forehead. These stringy bangs fell down to right above her eyes. Her black hair was rather simply pulled back into a single, low ponytail that fell down to her shoulders, which Jiny made note of earlier.

Down below the mystery woman’s head… Jiny could now see that her loose white shirt was indeed a button-up. She could tell, of course, because the top two buttons were undone. This woman… it was now plain to see that just one of her breasts was just about the size of her head. Of course, this meant that she had quite a substantial chest, which was even more extraordinary given that it was an uncommon trait for her phenotype. A decent amount of her cleavage was shown off from within her shirt, whose fabric was stretched thin over her chest area.

Jiny noted movement, as the mystery woman seemed to be raising her hand up next to her face. What was she… Oh shit.

The woman was waving over at Jiny’s table, wearing a bright smile as she did so. Almost immediately upon realizing this, everyone at the table snapped their head away from the woman, and looked down at their plates. As she gazed down, Jiny found that she was even starting to sweat. From the way that all eyes turned to the woman, so the manner in which those eyes were torn away… the effect that this woman was having on the table just by existing could not be understated. Just by sitting there, she seemed to exude… pressure, in no doubt partially due to her unusual height.

However, some attendees at the table would rather not linger on the effect that this mystery woman had on them. Instead, they would redirect their newfound and sudden resentment elsewhere.

“S-S-So… *ahem.*” Melissa tried to recover, already uncharacteristically stuttering. “What kind of high-class shows do you watch then?”

Not only was her insult more direct, her voice was more sharp and venomous. It seemed as if she had dropped all pretense, and was now openly insulting Jiny.

To which Jiny immediately side-eyed her, and subtly shook her head in a way that only those at the table could see. However, it seemed as if she wasn’t signaling for Melissa to stop out of annoyance or anger… rather, she was doing it out of fear. And not out of fear for herself, but for Melissa.

After all, Melissa was actively provoking an Asian woman in 2023, with another, far larger Asian woman in earshot.

Jiny wasn’t stupid, and neither was Melissa. They both knew very well what could happen.

However, it seemed as if Melissa just didn’t care.

“No! You’re obviously so much better than all of us, so please, enlighten us!” By now, Melissa had become red the face, clearly visible thanks to her white complexion.” We’re dying to know what the almighty Jiny does in her free time. No, wait—you don’t even watch TV, do you? I bet you paint Renaissance pictures as a ho—“

“Shut up.” Jiny said in a hushed voice as she lowered her head and raised her right hand up to her mouth, shielding her mouth and and words from the sight and ears of the mystery woman across the room.

“I said NO!” With this, Melissa quickly stood up from her chair, knocking the piece of furniture back with her motion. The 5’4” woman tried to stand up as tall as she could, allowing her to just slightly look down at Jiny—a fact that gave her great satisfaction. “Stop trying to silence me! I can say whatever I want, and I won’t be told to be shut up by some oki bi—“

Now, it was Jiny who suddenly jolted up from her chair. Almost immediately, Melissa practically jumped back until she was behind the chair of one of her friends, as if she were taking shelter from a rampaging giant. She was still red in the face, slightly trembling as she donned a fearful expression, contrasting with the angry one she had just moments ago. Was… was that a tear in one of her eyes?

It’s not like Jiny was going to stick around to find out. She was already on her way to the front door of the restaurant, making her exit. Melissa had just called her a slur: “oki.” The Japanese word for “big,” it had gained popularity as a derogatory term for Saku affected females in the past few years, in America and other parts of the world. However, Jiny wasn’t leaving because she was offended or anything of the short. She was leaving before Melissa could aggress her further, and potentially earn the ire of the far more threatening Asian woman in the building.

Jiny wasn’t going to be the reason why Melissa ended up in the hospital… or died.

Jiny put on her small black jacket that was previously lying on the back of her chair, and stepped out into the cool Autumn air. And that was that. Walking down the street away from the small restaurant, Jiny simply resolved herself to never come out for dinner with that crowd again, and to move on with her night. She wondered what good shows were on TV right now… hopefully something starring Cassandra Liu, her favorite actress.

However, after about two minutes of walking, Jiny felt as if something was off. But, what was it? She had resolved to never go out for dinner with that group again. Again, again… shit.

Jiny just left her coworkers alone with a twenty foot tall Asian woman after one of them just spent a full minute expressing her hatred for them. There may not be an “again” on that woman decides to have her way with them.

…This was bad. Immediately, Jiny turned around, and started making her way back to the restaurant. How could she have been so stupid to leave them in the first place?! She had to go make sure they were safe! She needed to be prepared to defend them if necessary—either verbally physically. Wait… what was she doing? Her coworkers apparently hated her, so she hated them back. Especially Melissa. Why was she risking her neck for her of all people? Emphasis on the “risking her neck” part. Jiny was less than half the size of that woman, that much was clear. What could she truly hope to do against her if she wished to harm her coworkers? Was she just putting herself in harm’s way for the exact same end result?

Despite these doubtful thoughts… Jiny kept pressing forward, headed back to the restaurant. That is, until, two figures came into plain view in front of the now visible store.

One of the figures was abnormally large, her head rising up above the top of the restaurant. And the other figure was far smaller, not even reaching up to the other one’s knee.

…Shit!

Jiny stared daggers at the far taller woman as she continued to walk up to her. It seemed as if her fight-or-flight response had activated, and right now, it wasn’t flight she was feeling. However, it was the mystery woman who engaged first. She was drawing closer to Jiny—apparently, she and Melissa were already talking towards her.

“Oh, hey there! We were just on our way to come see you. Jiny, is it?” The woman said, apparently donning a bright smile.

All three women stood in place as they came to face each other—that is, Melissa standing right beside the mystery woman, and Jiny facing them both. Jiny’s eyes shot down to Melissa… and saw that the woman who only rose up to her waist was looking off to side and sniffling. She couldn’t see her eyes, but her face still looked to be red.

Immediately, Jiny’s head shot back up to the far larger woman, her body standing straight and her eyes glaring dagger. However, Jiny’s display of angry confidence would have seemed silly to an outside observer. Jiny only slightly rose up above the woman’s mid-thigh. Thighs that were notably thicker than Jiny’s waist, and only slightly thinner than the widest part of Jiny’s shoulders. The absolute difference in size between of the two women hadn’t truly set in for Jiny, whose judgment was currently clouded. To an aforementioned outsider, if this encounter were to become physical, it was clear that it would turn out the way Jiny hoped it would.

“What did you do to her?” Jiny boldly asked the mystery woman, in reference to Melissa’s current state.

“Oh, I actually didn’t do anything to her, other than just talk to her. I didn’t touch her, I promise.” The mystery woman replied to Jiny. She was tilting her head far down, and was slouching down a little bit in order to better talk to Jiny.

Jiny was thrown off by the woman’s words—she hadn’t expected the woman to deny hurting Melissa if she had actually done so, but she still wasn’t fully convinced. However, before she could press further, the mystery woman began to speak again. The larger woman’s voice was so much louder than her own… that it silenced Jiny before she could even get a word out.

“I assure you, she’s fine. We actually came out here to look for you because she has something to say to you. Isn’t that right, Melissa?”

With this, the woman looked down at Melissa, still wearing her bright smile all the smile. To this, Melissa turned her head even more so to the side, and brought her hands up to her eyes… in a motion that indicated she was wiping away tears. It seemed like she wasn’t going to say anything.

“Hey. Isn’t that right?” The mystery woman repeated in a voice that was in no way more forceful than how she spoke prior. But suddenly, after she spoke, she began to squat down. Jiny took a few steps back so that the woman’s gradually extending knees did not clip her chest, although it seemed as if she were out of range in the first place, demonstrating spacial awareness from the larger woman. Once she was completely squatted, her rear seated on her heels, her head still rose about two feet above Jiny’s, and Melissa’s head now barely reached above her bent knees.

Suddenly, it was clear why the woman had squatted down. Her hand slowly moved to around Melissa’s back… and lightly patted her twice. That was all she did, and yet, Melissa’s reaction was extreme. The larger woman’s hand was easily twice the length of Melissa’s body, and as she patted her with her hand pointed horizontally, it covered her body from her shoulders all the way down to her lower waist. Each time this large hand came down very softly on her, Melissa jolted forward, she sharply gasped, and after the second one… she began sobbing hysterically.

“I-I’m s-s-sor-sorry… J-Jiny…” Melissa managed to spit out between hiccups and coughs, looking down at her shoes all the while.

“There you go!” The mystery woman looked at Melissa, and then turned her head to Jiny. “Sometimes you’ve just gotta give them a push to make them do right, y’know?”

Jiny simply stood in silence as the woman spoke and Melissa sobbed. Her eyebrows were furrowed and her mouth hung agape. The scene that was unfolding in front of her… it was just disturbing. A grown woman reduced to a sobbing mess, as another one makes her apologize to someone. She had heard of abuses of power from Asian women like this online or on the news, but to see it in person…

“Alright, that’s all. You can go back in now.” The mystery woman turned her head to Melissa as she spoke. However, as soon as Melissa started walking back to the restaurant, the woman called back out to her. “Oh, and don’t stay out for too long! Your friends, too! It’s dangerous outside this late at night.”

Jiny and the woman watched Melissa walk back to the restaurant… it seemed as if the mystery woman was making sure she made it back in safely. After she finished scurrying through the doors, the much larger woman turned her head back to Jiny, still squatting down. She now brought her arms around her knees, as she smiled down.

“Sorry you had to see that, I don’t know why she was so upset. But… it’s better if we’re the ones to set them straight before they run into someone way worse, right? That’s my logic, at least.”

There she was again, with that use of “them.” What did she mean by that? Jiny simply stared back at the woman, brows still furrowed, though her rage seemed to be simmering down. Given this woman’s rhetoric… Jiny was starting to believe that she really hadn’t physically harmed Melissa. Her pride was a different story, though.

Upon seeing Jiny’s unfriendly reaction, the mystery woman’s eyes went wide, as it was her turn for her mouth to open agape. “Oh, my fault! I realize I haven’t given you my name yet. I’m Michelle, nice to meet you!”

The woman apparently named Michelle withdrew her arm from around her legs, to present her hand to Jiny.

Jiny didn’t shake it back.

“…Oh.” You… must be in a hurry to get somewhere, my bad!” Michelle spoke somewhat frantically, clearly thrown off by Jiny’s refusal to shake her hand, and overall unfriendly demeanor. She continued to speak as she brought her hand back to her knees. “I’ll make this quick, then.”

“Call this just a hunch… but you’re not around other East Asian girls very often, are you? Or at all, really.”

Jiny’s brow furrowed at this accusation… which was completely true. She had lived in this Michigan town for her entire life, which was predominantly white. The state itself didn’t have a very high Asian population at all, either, nevermind East Asian. Jiny had absolutely no Asian friend, acquaintances, or coworkers to speak of. There was a Japanese-American boy in her grade back when she was still in school, but still no girls to speak of. She was surprised to she Michelle in this area in the first place.

“So what? It’s not that hard to figure out.” Jiny said bluntly to Michelle.

“Oh, so I was right!” Michelle beamed proudly. She pushed on, despite Jiny’s demeanor. “So… would you like to be around more East Asian girls?”

This time, one of Jiny’s eyebrows rose as she saw a hopeful glint in Michelle’s eyes. “Why’re you asking?” The shorter woman asked.

“Because, I’d love for you to come attend my college! It’s Young University.” Michelle said, clearly pepping up. “I asked Melissa if you go to a college before we walked out here, and she said no. You’d love it there! Only like, 5% of the study body is Asian and female, but it really doesn’t feel like it when you’re actually there. It’s really accepting, and… I’d just hate for you to spend your entire life not being around people who are like you, y’know?”

Now, Jiny’s eyes widened at Michelle’s sudden proposal. This woman just went from forcing her coworker to apologize… to now formally inviting her to a college?

Truthfully, Jiny wasn’t the best student at all. She in no way had the motivation, mental, or concentration to put in the work necessary to excel in school. She made straight B’s, in no way high enough grades to get into any good school in Michigan. This is why she went straight into the work force, taking up employment at the place she and Melissa worked.

However… by the time she had graduated, at 18 years of age, the Saku virus had already enlarged her and East Asian women around the world, and reshaped society. Because of the power that these Asian women had, Jiny knew very well that she could get into any school she wanted. However, she didn’t do so, simply because she would have felt… scummy. A B-student taking a spot away from a student with straight A’s would not have weighed well on her conscious.

“Y’know, Young University had its lowest accepting class this year. A comparatively low amount of people applied… there are a tons of open spots.” Michelle titled her head up and to the side, a knowing flint in her eyes.

Jiny could tell that she was completely serious about this. The chance to actually attend a college, and to be around other people like her, without ruining the chances of another individual… It wasn’t a thought that Jiny could shake out of her head too easily.

“Are you for real?” Jiny glared daggers up at Michelle, asking just for assurance.

“I’m dead serious.” Michelle smiled down at her potential recruit.

“…I’ll consider it.”

“Great!” Michelle jolted back up, shaking the ground causing Jiny to take more steps back. Since her senses were hazed due to her rage earlier… this was the first time she truly took in the full size difference between her and Michelle. With both of Michelle’s legs close together… it was harrowing just how much more volume this woman took up than her. …Was she truly prepared to fight this woman just moments before? What was she thinking?!

“So, um… I’ll let you on your way!” Michelle spoke, quick to stop the conversation with someone who she still viewed as preoccupied, lest she actually change her mind on attending. “Just one more thing though. Do you think I can get your number? Applying and getting in should be easy, but I can help you get moved in and settled into life and campus!” Michelle smiled down at Jiny has she pulled out her phone.

What was she, some kind of recruitment coach? Jiny thought this internally, as she slightly grimaced as Michelle spoke. Her voice was pretty loud… how was she not bothered by it until now? Was it just due to the heat of the moment as well?

Nonetheless, Jiny pulled out her phone as well, and the two exchanged contact info. Michelle’s last name was Hwang… most likely of Chinese descent, then.

“Well, it was nice meeting you, Jiny! I hope to see you soon!”

“…Yeah. Alright.”

After Jiny’s closing response, Michelle continued staring down at her, perhaps two or three seconds longer than what was normal… and with one final smile, began walking down the street, in an opposite direction from whence Jiny had come.

It was only September; Jiny wouldn’t be too far behind if she started school in the next few days. And, besides, her current job was pretty boring.

…Young University was two hours away. She should start looking for a dorm as soon as possible.
