I’m afraid I have to disagree Mr Speedy.  I think Cam’s anecdote was, first, an excellent character moment.  He’s been intimidated into silence by some truly evil, inhuman monsters for a week and now he’s got something to say.  And dammit he does.  You can almost hear the desperation in his voice as he rattles off his tale.  Like he’s afraid he only has so long to talk.  It feels so real and emotional.

Second, he is raising a very cogent point.
In addition to being a hopeless romantic, I am also an animal lover (NO, not like THAT...) I come from a very rural area, (one of the reasons I root for Oliver so strongly) and we have something called Future Farmers of America.  I’ts an organization that teaches young people animal husbandry.  Now I could never do this, but we have these kids raising farm animals.  The neighbor girl raises a lamb every year.  And let me tell you, lambs are crazy cute.  Now, this girl names this lamb, feeds it, pets it and every year it wins a ribbon and gets auctioned off.  It then get’s butchered and eaten by whoever bought it.  Sometimes she cries, but next year she get’s another lamb.
Try to imagine the lamb is your little sister or brother.
So, the story Cam tells is not saying she’s changed from that nice girl, it’s asking if she ever was a nice girl.  Was the kindness she showed the kindness the neighbor girl shows her lamb?  Did the fact that she was all about her “potential” show her true nature? And Cam has always been a price she could live with paying?  Or did something change her? Cam was not just saying “you never know” but also “you still don’t know.”

While Cerys can sound sincere, Sersi can carry on what seems like sisterly banter with Cam while planing his humiliation, dehumanization and probable death.

Cam's totally right, trust none of them.

(insert joke about FFA and weasels here)

Author's Response:

Cam's story may resurface at some point so I thought it was a good place to share. Look how glibly these girls interact with men/boys they KNOW are destined for the killing floor. How could possibly trust that?

My pick was for Oliver to wait it out and hide. Now that Cam was with him, it should be easier to escape. 2 brains and their communication will cure their insanity.

Oliver should not have risked it. He wasn't even that desperate. He ate that chicken recently and Cam had a week's worth of pussy. They both should be somewhat full. Also, the plant should have lots of water compared to their tiny bodies.

Did Cam just tell a story while they are on the brink of life and death? This isn't cheesy Hollywood. Inserting some backstory during an important scene. We already knew Sersei isn't that nice girl anymore.

I think Cery's story is true, but I didn't think Oliver would agree with my decision.

Well, Oliver is screwed. About to be Sersei's sex toy for a week.

I can't wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response:

I appreciate your input, but the underlying question is when did Sersei know Cam wam to be sacrificed. To describe your own kin in the context of a cigarette is pretty damn cold. How did she make that leap?

Oliver!  Damn it!

You scoop up the water with your hands, dump it on the bar and when it softens then you get a piece off.  Jeez.

Wait...what?  Cerys?  What about her?

Well, it looks like we might be about to find out if she was telling the truth...or at least what she finds amusing.

Seriously, imagine yourself debating her intentions from safety.  The second you move out there, you feel way different.  I'm sure it's a big mistake, but I gotta praise Oliver's guts.

This was amazing Duggernaut.  I totally disagree with his choice, but I'm still rooting for Oliver.  Great chapter.

So... We have an interesting admission form Cerys..."others gathered for the harvest". I have often wondered about the missing fathers of those sacrificied and I think we now have the answer.  I see a scenario something like "Dearest father of my male child, won't you please accompany me to my University for a reunion.  You can meet some of my hot sorority sisters".  Once they arrive at the event..."Here, my love,  have some of this mystery drink… Gee honey, you look so tired… why don’t you come down to the basement to rest on this sacrificial alter…err bench".  Later that night... Presto.  A three-inch-tall father... a new toy of the sisters, never to see the outside world again. With that annoying protective father out of the way there will be no one to interfere with the sacrificing of another male child to Omega Pi...

changed

I missed that word, but it's definitely important. They're still not willing to give up their immortality and beauty. They think that a rapist who lets the victim live is a good person. In this way, they're deluding themselves into thinking that they've climbed out of the moral pit they dug themselves into, blinding themselves to the fact that they're still well below ground.

This assumes that Cerys is telling the truth, which is a risky assumption to make.

Nice analysis Anchient Relic.

I want to draw everyone's attention to two bit of her sales pitch.

“There are two factions within our sisterhood, the larger and more powerful of the two are the traditionalists, those who wish to continue ritual harvesting as we have been doing. The other group are those who think the practice needs to be changed to protect not only our male offspring but others gathered for the harvest."  Please note the absense of the word "end."  "Change" is there, not end.  So either, we'll still do it, but we'll try to make sure you live.  Or we'll not go after our own, but keep harvesting.

Not exactly going out of my way to cheer her and her kind on here.  Maybe it sounds like a good deal if Oliver has no moral compass.   Not bettin so.

"We have been able to abscond with one of the Weeping Stones and so far have been able to save two others in my three years here."  Hardly a great outcome if she's got everyone saying "we lose more tinies that way."  What happened to the rest?

Burp?

Lying like a 'Meg.  She's totally full of it.  She's totally full of something...or someones.

Let's have a look at her claims:

There are two factions within our sisterhood, the larger and more powerful of the two are the traditionalists, those who wish to continue ritual harvesting as we have been doing. The other group are those who think the practice needs to be changed to protect not only our male offspring but others gathered for the harvest.

Seems plausible, but all we have for confirmation is Samantha's doubts, and that's just one person who could have had cold feet at the last minute.

Your mother Samantha belongs to the second group.

So Cerys knows about Samantha's cold feet. That could mean that she's telling the truth, or that the higher-ups know about Samantha's doubts.

Please Oliver, understand she did not want this for you, ever. I know what you’re thinking, if that was the case, why are you here then? There was no way she or the others seeking to bring about change could openly defy the ruling council of the sisterhood, they are just too powerful, too well engrained in positions of power everywhere. Where could she take you where you would not be found? Nowhere.

We've seen hints of this level of power, but just hints. It is plausible, though, if she's been telling the truth so far.

So in order to maintain the illusion of loyalty to the sisterhood, and more importantly to protect the movement, you needed to be subjected to the reaping. She asked me to lay claim to you because she knew I could get you away from here without suspicion. Unfortunately, I won only a second draw and Sersei established first rights to you.

This is good for Oliver. This is a fact that can be verified. If Deacon and/or Stan finds him, Oliver can tell them to confirm that with Samantha. Ask for her side of the story, without giving away the information that needs to be verified. If Samantha's account lines up with this, then Cerys is telling the truth. If not, she's lying.

Also, we know that Samantha has been going to "retreats". However, we don't konw how enthusiastic she was about them, or what she actually did there.

We have been able to abscond with one of the Weeping Stones and so far have been able to save two others in my three years here.

These facts haven't even been hinted at, but they're facts that can be confirmed or denied.

It’s up to you. If you think I’m lying, you don’t have to reveal yourself but I can guarantee Miss Frost will ferret you out, if Sersei doesn’t beat her to it. I think she is going to petition her grandmother for aid in about an hour or so. I can’t promise you restoration, but I can offer you a chance to survive this

There needed to be a plot development to end the last bit of running around, and this is it. Oliver is taking a risk if he trusts Cerys. He can't confirm her story until he finds Deacon or Stan, but if he hides from her, then he and Cam have to find a way out of the house by themselves. And if Frost or the grandmother use magic to find Oliver and Cam, they're fucked, literally and figuratively.

If you think I’m lying, you don’t have to reveal yourself but I can guarantee Miss Frost will ferret you out, if Sersei doesn’t beat her to it. I think she is going to petition her grandmother for aid in about an hour or so.

Is that Sersei's grandmother or Frost's grandmother?

Thus far, generally, when the Omegas describe an aspect of the house, ritual, or circumstances, there seems to be an element of truth to their descriptions.  With few exceptions, there is enough truth to manipulate and to deceive their victims.  That said, If I were Oliver, I would trust Cerys about as far as I could throw her.  Let’s not forget that the sisters have motivation for everything they do.  While playing with the victims of the ritual is sexually satisfying, the shrinking is only a byproduct of the reaping of the life energy that grants immortality and eternal beauty.  The sisters will say or do anything that perpetuates and facilitates the reaping and Sersei has told us of it’s incredibly addictive nature.    These junkies will lie, cheat and steal for that next fix.  Hold your ground Cam and Oliver, help is coming…

Contrary to popular belief, I believe Cerys. There is a reason she was curious about Oliver when he fought the "Bear" kid during that one party. She wanted him and used her disguise as a man eater to gain the trust of her sorority.

Also, Duggernaut likes to throw curveballs at us and expand on it, so I think he wanted us to believe Cerys is crazy and wants us to refuse to accept Cerys story she just mentioned.

Her story is also pretty specific which leads me to believe that it's probably true, at least most of it. By the way, that story that Certs just said took forever. Oliver, Cam and I fell asleep half way through. That speech was kinda long.

Oliver should not go out even if he believes that Cerys is right. I think he is better off on his own and is capable of escaping. If he surrenders, he has to suffer with Sersei and then go with Cery. But before Cerys, he has to spend 7 days with Sersei. I doubt Oliver wants to end up like Cam.

Well, I can't wait for the next chapter!

It's a good thing Cerys isn't one of those psychic girls who talks to plants. Daisies might not be big-mouthed. But, aloe vera plants might say more than "aloe!"

No.  No she is not.
I know what I said!!! That was a joke!
Look, we’ve seen in Samantha’s head.  She’s written Oliver off.  And that chuckle when Cerys saw the towel?  Nope.  It’s a scam.
So what if she works at a hospital?  That proves nothing.  How many killer nurses have there been?  I don’t know either, but it’s practically an arch-type.
I won’t believe a one of them...not a one.  Especially not freakin’ Cerys.
Go ahead, get suckered.  See if I care.  Tell me how your trip through the sunny esophagus went.  Remember, it ain’t paranoia if they are out to get you.

But then again.....

Gee Duggernaut, thanks.  I’m having enough trouble sleeping lately.  This really helps.

@pixl8ed,

If Oliver was really "lucky", he would be in the clutches of Brooklyn. :) That's my type of luck.

Okay, so there might be a slight tendency to use words like "lucky" at finding potted plant.  If you apply luck to any thing Oliver has gone through...you must be Tom Speedy (hi buddy)...This is Oliver brilliantly using very limited resources.  And hiding in the pot: I doubt I would have thought of it.

The really surprising part will be tomorrow when Cam has regrown to full size and the plant he's sharing space with is huge...turns out that Brooklyn juice is a super fertalizer.  A side effect of her general shitty nature and the 'Megs' forays into whore-ticulture.  (C'mon...I had to...it was RIGHT THERE.)

Thanks for a wonder of a chapter Duggernaut.

Lucky Oliver getting some time alone with Brooklyn without her knowing. If that was me, I would just stay down there, crawl into her panties and pretend to be Cam. She can roll on me as much as she wants.

Oliver probably is the only one who got to have fun with a giant girl while the girl doesn't have fun with him. Oliver did what he wanted, teasing Brooklyn like that. I bet Brooklyn wants some payment for that touching she received.

The door with no towel just has to be a trap. I mean, Sersei is asking everyone to clog up that space.....unless.... it's her own door. My goodness, is that Sersei's room? This should be interesting!

I can't wait for the next chapter!
